I randomly remembered today this game from my childhood but I couldn't think of the name. I googled "old computer game snowy mountain" and that led me here. Ahh the memories.
I did the same thing haha. I also played Midnight Rescue made by this same company. What a time to be alive... Such a golden era that will never forget
I'm sorry for your loss. Your dad sounds like he really made your childhood happy and memorable. Hopefully my video didn't make you miss your dad even more.
I'm SO GLAD I found this! It sounds stupid, but I've been wanting to make a little RPG video game inspired by the feeling this game has imprinted on my memories from childhood. It isn't the game itself, per se, nor would my game be really anything like this nor for little kids, but I want the aesthetic of it to evoke a similar kind of feeling I get from my personal nostalgia of this game (but more mature). I was afraid that seeing this for real after so long would shatter my "rose-tinted glasses" and make my vision falter, but it has actually helped me clarify the feeling I'm going for and mentally turn it into something I can make concrete. Thanks for posting!!
Oh, the memories! I used to get such a kick out of making the chick say "What's in-whats in-what's-what's-what's in the green bag..." I was so easily amused. 😂
The gameplay bgm. This song. OMG. This has been an earworm for me for 2.5 decades without me even revisiting the game. And now I actually hear it again all this time later. It's like I met a classmate from kindergarten and hearing their voice again.
The master of mischief invented a magical machine that changed the weather by making a storm!. The clocks went cuckoo, the gold scales tipped, and the crystals crumbled!. In the end 450 treasures were needed to take the throne. The master of mischief was frozen by the crown's power!. From Joe. X
Oh man. That clock part gave me traumatic flashbacks. I was horrible at telling time for whatever reason and never understood the instructions when I played this as a kid. I was eight or nine or something....but honestly, time still confuses me even though I’m an adult. I didn’t do well at the measuring game either and I still suck at measuring. I’d be a crying mess after playing those parts and never knew how to get them right. I don’t think I ever finished the game because of those minigames. It’d be annoying if I played it now but I could probably get through it...at least if could get over the memories of panic attacks it gave me.
I suddenly thought of this game. Found your video. Realized the theme music for the first level occasionally gets stuck in my head. I had no idea where it was from.
Dang, I haven’t played this since elementary school. 22 years ago since those days. Thank for this slice of nostalgia! Boy do I miss those simpler times 😪
About the music: Earlier this year (2022) I chose to learn a new piano piece seemingly on a whim, and I had a deep connection with these games as a kid. It took me a minute to realize that the title screen music is that very same piece! “Invention no. 8” by Johann Sebastian Bach! Talk about synchronicity 😊
I once played the older version of this game before this version, and let me tell you the diabolical laughter on those robber snowballs caught me by surprise when I first heard them!
pretty phenomenal production, from procedural generation, progression, and a clear endgame in mind. it makes the horrendous modern titles coming out today pale in comparison
Make sure you run the game in 640x480 otherwise you'll get audio / video issues. Treasure Mountain on the other hand needs 640x480, 256 color and compatibility with Windows 95 in the Compatibility preferences.
I want to cry I just remembered this randomly and when I heard the music I had to catch my breath. This game was so important to me and I never was able to beat it as a kid. Maybe if I can find it I’ll try again so many years later
Thanks so much for the upload! I remember playing this on the computers in my elementary school's library many a time as a little kid. My sister and I loved it so much we installed it on our old Gateway computer at home. I have no idea how I ever reached the end because math was, and still is, my worst subject. lol
I remember breaking into the classrooms on lunch break just so I could play this game. must have only been six years old and I got in a load of trouble lmao. oh the memories!
I loved the bajeezus out of the first game way back when, but this one made me nearly pull the hairs out of my tiny elementary-schooler head. I never got to see the end because the endless replays frustrated me so much with no end in sight.
remember playing this in my Christian kindergarten computer class. this was like 2008, and the computers were super old even for the time. didn't know this game had audio 'till now. i think they made us play the games with the audio off. awful school, but i remember really liking the computer class and the music class. the teachers of both classes were married too. wanna say the computers rand DOS, but i vaguely recall some kids playing MS paint, so idk.
It is like voices are there but lips do not move. The detail is older schooled than this one. I think it was for window 95. It has the same gameplay. Different net style and Shop keepers. I believe it was year 1992.
I played this game at Altamont Elementary. Nathan G (my friend) got an answer wrong in the Time Igloo and Crystal Cave and the "du du" sound played. I got excited about it and Nathan scowled at me and he said "Not funny!"
This game is the reason I’m an engineer hahhaa. My mom bought it for my 7 year older sister and I wanted to be able to play it so I learned math well before Kindergarten to do so lolol. Couldn’t read but wasn’t much of an issue :P this and cluefinders i loved 🥰 playing years before the recommended age hahahaha
This game is So Nostalgic, I remember playing it with my Tutor on her Computer. One time, we purposely got a Math Question Wrong after Catching the Elf, Just to See what would Happen. Aaah . . . Memories.
Wow, I don't recall the Macintosh version's music sounding like this. I suppose I had an earlier version; The graphics were more primitive though it had some sound effects in common and when at the clock guy after he'd say it was correct music would play. Also, the snowbullies didn't move around as smoothly. The "Greater than" lady also had a different voice. The thing is the 1992 Windows version and DOS versions aren't the same as the Mac version though, it's like the Mac version was in between those versions and this one. I also think I beat this game once back in the day but never had it installed after 1999.
Wow i was thinking of all the games i used to play. I remembered snow balls, clocks and math lol. This is so nostalgic. I played this 29 years ago at 8 My dad bought it for me and thought it might help. RIP PAPI. The clocks would have me crying😂. I could not figure out the time for shit. This music has me so happy lol. Glad i found it. This and never ending story
I remember the clock, scale, and crystal games having intro music themes and success music themes for the exact same version as this. Why doesn't this version have that?
I came here for the freaking annoying background MUSIC because it’s a tune I’ve whistled for nearly TWENTY YEARS. Anyway I’m glad to hear it again, and I want to play this game again too
omfg i remembered this from FIFTH GRADE! It took so long trying to find this game again because it's been years since I played it so I couldn't remember what it looked like, until I found Treasure Mountain and my sister told me "Treasure Mathstorm! That's the one we played!" god, memories..
This game felt like Legend of Zelda on N64 lmao This reminds me of my kindergarten/ 1st grade memories. Back when computers were really taking off in the industry. Man life is crazy!!!
I remember playing these games, and having find memories of them. However, I was still having trouble reading at the time, so I had no idea what I was doing. Guess I was able to wing it enough to get up the mountain several times.
Holy shit finally I found the lost game from my childhood, I remember playing this gem around '05, I didn't know english back then so some puzzles I would just bruteforce them with countless replays and random combinations. It's funny cause I could remember this game so vividly but didn't know what to search for, I typed "old pc game with elves" and the 1st search result was this!
We didn’t get the sound on this at my elementary school! Had to figure out the hard way why we were doing math problems on a snowy mountain for no apparent reason!
This was the first computer game that I was allowed to play when I was a kid (besides that 3D Pinball game, Space Cadet). I googled catching snowballs with net lol
