What an absolutely beautiful lady! Even though she died 9 years before my birth she is probably the most beautiful woman I have ever seen! Laurence Olivier was a very very very very lucky man!
Wow, too cool, thanks for sharing. How is it that one of the greatest actresses of the London stage gives two of the best screen performances of all time?!? Yesterday, I watched “Streetcar” for like the 12th time….then turned on TCM (here in Panamá), they were showing GWTW! What a treat!
I like this video because she isn’t tied with Larry. and there are some photos of Vivian and Jack. Jack deserves the respect of Vivian’s fans. He never hurts her. His love, patience and kindness gives Vivien so much comfort after her divorce.
What a classic looking lady! No other actress can meet her quality now. At least, she enjoyed her grandsons before she died. Lovely post. Thank you for share.
What an extraordinary life. I don't know if her talent was the only thing that matched her beauty. I think she still rates the single best performance in GWTW in motion picture history. I wish there was treatment for bipolar back then to ensure a less torturous life. I revere her talent as an actress as many did with 2 Oscars and 1 Tony, and 1 BAFTA. She succumbed to a physical and mental illness that plagued her at the age of 53.
Thank you for this comprehensive collection . The photos taken with her grandchildren are rarely seen and beautiful. This collection captures her magical beauty.
Maybe the best way to explain one of the major paradoxes of Vivien Leigh's life is to quote from one of the New York paper's review of "Gone with the wind," which, in essence, stated that Miss Leigh is so talented that she need not be so beautiful --- and vice-versa. All of these pictures are wonderful, but I'm especially touched by the one of a more mature "Scarlett" and "Rhett" taken, I'm guessing, in the early-50s. A belated thanks for all the effort you put into searching out and posting these pictures.
Me too. Love it. Feel like they were soul mates but she was besotted with Olivier and Clark was 2 masculine for her. Like she was afraid of a real man.
I was wondering when & where this picture was taken of her & Clark Gable sitting together some years later. They were both more mature looking in this picture at frames 5:03-5:07. Does anybody know what this occasion was?
My Mother met Vivien Leigh , during her tour of Australia. I have asked Mum to repeat the story many times over the years. When they met at a garden party. My Mother said that Vivien was very small , and when she smiled , that she became Scarlett, and she was so beautiful.
I just finished reading "FULL SERVICE My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars" by Scotty Bowers w/Lionel Friedberg. According to Mr. Bowers She was indeed a charming, dynamic & very troubled woman.
She was incredibly talented and beautiful, she was in a film that is not mentioned very much with Robert Taylor called Waterloo Bridge. This is one of my favourite films, second to Gone With The Wind. She was remarkable again in this film. God rest her soul.
Sublimely beautiful woman whose life was marred by bipolar disease. My favourite actress. What happened to her daughters three sons? Did any of them have a girl who looked like Vivien???
I believe I am correct in saying she had one daughter from her first marriage with Leigh Holman, Susanne, who is now deceased (2015) and became Mrs. Robin Farrington. Her husband predeceased her in 2002 and they had three children, all boys. Vivien Leigh was a step-mother and had a close relationship with Tarquin Olivier, Sir Laurence's son. Tarquin has spoken of this relationship and I believe you can watch clips on UA-cam. Tarquin and Suzanne were also close as step brother and sister. I believe Tarquin is in his mid eighties, now.
In the picture of Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable at 5:03-5:07, I imagine that Scarlett and Rhett finally came back to each other and got happiness forever :-) I am a huge fan of GWTW.
I'm glad to come across someone else who has that opinion. When she won her first Oscar, I have read he wanted to jerk it out of her hands and hit her over the head with it. That's love????? I think, then, he decided consciously or unconsciously he would show her who the great actor was. And that was destructive to her in so many ways. Why was she so obsessed with him?
I also believe that hadn't she not met him she would have pursued a fantastic filming career rather than being absorbed by the idea that she would need to follow in Olivier's steps in theater just to be like him. However their love was also great and passionate and she chose it. She could have done another way but it was her choice and she was happy with it. The problem with artists in general is that they are more self centered that the regular non artist people. It's difficult for them to accept that someone else, close to them, get more light. And after all Vivien Leigh had some of the most prestigious characters in the cinema industry during the golden age of Hollywood, so...
marriageto that over rated Oliv. ruined her..O beautiful women...never marry! He was eaten up with jealousy and enby of her charisma and talent...and success...what a path she blazed!
Thank you Cece for posting this video and other videos of Vivien Leigh. It is such a delight to watch them. Please, please do not remove them from UA-cam. Are you in any way related to Vivien, since your last name is similar to hers? Again thanks
Vivien Leigh once made this comment "Beautiful people make their own rules". (or something similar). This was her down fall. Vivien did what she pleased and you know where that gets you?

love this girl. she is sooo beautiful. One of the most beautiful women i have seen. and gone with the wind was perfection. :)
My favorite actress 🥺❤
What class. What beauty. What style. What a brave woman who struggled with bipolar disorder, as so many of us have. An ICON.
she is pure class and grace the world lost and gained so much through her

She was amazing, and I still watch Gone With The Wind. I have several copies on dvds and vhs.
She used to think of her beauty as a handicap because it would be a deterrent of her acting talent... She was pure class.
She is the most beautiful woman in the world.

Thank you very much ♥️
Lovely collection. Great choice of music too, thank you 🙏
Many are never seen. Where did these come from.
Very nice!
@ 2:49 - It looks to me like Clark Gable liked her. I think the rumors that they didn't like each other were untrue.
Believe what you want ; I feel that Robert Taylor was more her type and she said “Waterloo Bridge” was her favourite film , his too.
Agree he liked her very much
love that picture..looks like they were very closed

Ilove evry one who love Vivien
I'm not certain at all, that the photo at 6:51, is vivien. I often see several instances where she is frequently mislabeled
CeCe do you know where the picture with Vivien and Clark Gable in later years was taken at ?
I believe that is on the set of Waterloo Bridge.
Restaurant in Hollywood in 1950 ,, she in street car at that time.
They said that it was in November 1950 at Romanoff (Beverly Hills) for an after-theatre supper party.
Im avid fan of vivien leigh are you related to ms vivien leigh?

I believe Cecelia Leigh is one of Vivien's great-grandchildren.
Herb Alpert and "Blanche O'Hara" (heehee): what a weird and wonderful souffle!

Your quote is from the film "The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone", not something Leigh said in her private life.
That line was from the film The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone. In the film, she says she did that WHEN I was young and beautiful.
2:52 OMG my fangirl heart. Is this real?
yessss he visit her, when she was doing a movie

Whose the handsome guy at 5:49?
he was her boyfriend
I suppose this must be Canadian actor John Merivale, Vivien's companion in her final years.
It would have been nice if these photos had been shown chronologically, rather than skipping all over the place.
She looks a bit like MERLE OBERON.....
Just like Merle Oberon, Vivien is rumored to have some Anglo-Indian ancestry.
