I have loved your Father's Debussy for 30+ years. Now I hear what he could do with SVR's " Corelli's". Perfect irony, sadness, AND hopefulness. I think they would have understood and enjoyed each other a lot ! Greetings from Detroit, where we were fortunate to have them both perform, about 45 years apart.
A felvétel Bécsben, a Baumgartner Casino-ban készült 1989 dec.
I might be four months late with this reply, but surprisingly, Philips is not the guilty party here; my father is. For some odd reason, he didn’t feel this was ‘good enough’ at the time. Crazy right? Source: he told me. Later in life, he changed his mind and planned to make a sequel to his 2nd piano sonata album, which would have contained this very recording and the 1st piano sonata (Op. 28), among other things, but he sadly passed away before he could even set foot in the studio.@@fp8035

What a superb performance! What a pity he didn´t record the First Piano Sonata...

could Philips not be persuaded to release this? it's superb.
Like everything your father touches WONDERFUL
Such an incredible performance of a criminally underrated Rachmaninoff piece! As always, everything your father touched turned to gold ✨️❤️
Emlékszem amikor tanulta. Sokszor mutatott belőle részleteket.

Thanks for the information. Why on earth did Philips never released this recording? It´s pure perfection
