I think Ayumu is the type of guy who sees himself as his biggest rival , not anyone else. He beats shaun or not it was just simply because he hates losing, that’s it. He doesn’t care what others do as long as he can do the impossible then it’s fine. That’s why it’s quite interesting watching him grows. Congrats on your gold medal, you earned it!!
So proud of him and so exciting that Ayumu is making a history in snowboarding!! Who would have ever thought that Japanese boys could compete like this?!
Hirano should of won last Olympics. Any boarder would definitely understand the difficulty, technicality, and finesse in these runs. Too many people sell into the storyline and hype versus knowing the sport. Hoping these Olympics the judges get it right. Regardless Shaun is still good but he definitely doesn't have enough for these new boarders. The game has changed.
no, Shaun won that one with room to spare. And it's not a storyline Shaun White is the most decorated snowboarder to this day, and literally has helped shape the game for what it even is today. He earned every medal he has. And it's amazing that he is still teaching younger generations in his mid 30's on the world stage. LEGEND & GOAT
it is definitely ayumu's time now! In term of technique, ayumu is better (in my opinion) . I think ayumu was always underrated(compared to shaun). Fact is ayumu has changed the bar for half pipe.
He’s still young and could aim for another Olympic gold. As Shaun found out, it’s really difficult to stay motivated and the level keeps getting higher. It’s going to be amazing seeing what Ayumu does next.
@@Coucaci shaun white is in the hall of fame wich makes him ountouchable. Still a wierd comment to james comment. Ayumo IS the guy every competitor will have to beat for next couple of years. Its an new era
Ayuma looks effortless like you said. However the thing that separates Shaun from the rest of the pack is style, amplitude, and just overall swag! Watching Shaun do a 1440 and other riders do the same trick just isn’t the same. Gonna be an interesting one.
@@marcellusherrod Ayumu has way better style than shaun tho. But shaun looks pretty clean to. Ayumu is also known to go big, probably the only one that goes as big as Shaun, for example here Ayumu got scored more on amplitude than Shaun so he probably went bigger on avarage.
Hirano has always been a powerhouse. I felt like they gave Shaun the last Olympic win for the typical storyline when Hirano stomped higher technical tricks with style. Can't wait to see what happens in the Olympics.
@@JayVizcarra I'm not sure if you are right. Altho I do believe Ayumu is better in half pipe than shaun at this moment, and he has better style for sure. I think Shaun's run at the olympic 2018 was better than Ayumus. Shaun had more variety in grabs (ayumu only did one grab, and Shaun had two stalefish and the normal mute or japan) and his 540 was much better than ayumus backside air (the setup trick they can do that is not spin to win) Shaun did have a boot grab tho, but other then that his run was better.
to me... shauns run was awesome... but the small guy whirling around just looks... different... Im not saying I like it more, i feel that shauns height makes it look a bit more clumsy?
Clumsy, for real? The height and slower rotations make it more stylish and he seems totally in control. But not gonna lie, if you look at difficulty of the tricks it's no match, Hirano is insane. The only way Shaun can win the Olympics is if Hirano (and other people too) slam on all their runs or have sketchy landings. Either way I think Shaun will be happy with Bronze I suppose.
Ayumu Hirano Congratulations on the Beijing Olympics Gold Medal

Shaun Roger White is super legend, and Ayumu Hirano is new legend in half-pipe snowboarding.

Ayumu Hirano will win Olympics hes coming into his own

AYUMU!Get the gold medal next🏅
Ayumu looks super smooth! Can’t wait to see how this time judges rule.

Nah Shaun is the better in all time because he is the first one to make a perfect run with 100 points

New style vs old style. Awesome I
Great run from Shaun, but the game has moved on. Ayumu looks smoother, effortless, spins in a tight ball.
That kid looks smooth and tight. Looking forward to watching it all go down.

The future is here ayumu broke the code , Shaun’s run is nonetheless amazing . Regarding he has been doing the same routine for almost 15 years
fantastic .....

right! and he's still competing at epic levels and still continues to teach younger generations how it's done

His height slows the trick down. Being fast isn't always an impressive thing.

He’s 5’9, that’s short for boarding. Ayumu is 5’3
Yoda vs. Luke. Arnold vs. Franco. I’ll take Luke and Arnold all day.🤷♂️
You forgot 2nd place Scherrer😎🇨🇭🇨🇭🇨🇭
Shaun has nothing more to prove.
Exactly!!!
