It is nice to have a smaller stature person reviewing these type of bike... Gives me some hope and provide me a better gauge of a shorter legged person :D Thanks!
A informative walk around Kate. I don't know how you keep up with the electronic selections and stuff. Glad I've just got a clock to set on one bike. Good bloopers at the end. Take care and have a safe and dry weekend.
Nice review. I already bought the black version and getting it fitted with accessories including cruise control before my one month ride across USA. For some reason i keep getting review videos, but its always nice seeing other folks perspectives. After one month of riding just locally after work and on weekends, i think i made a great choice.
The dash is near idenical to the Hornet as is the engine. I know as I own a Hornet. Both bikes bring back old Model names and both offer amazing value for money.
Excellent vlog Kate, especially the run through all the mode choices, much too bamboozling for an old bugger like me. Would buy this bike in a twink, but the tubed tyres are a deal breaker unfortunately.
It's been lovely seeing you there Kate, didn't want to interrupt your recording, seems that mission was unsuccesful, oops! O.o The route you recommended was great practice, I have since gone on a dual sport adventure around Yorkshire Dales with a TRF group. Best day on two wheels so far! Too bad the weather wasn't great for you in Wales, it's such a scenic place, if you get the chance to look around. Props for wild camping though, I want to do this next year. Maybe we meet somewhere on the road again then, salutations!
Just curious if you were also able to sit on or ride a yamaha tenere 700. I'm 6'2 with a 37 inch inseam. I haven't found a Trans Alp or T7 to even sit on but like what I've read about the Tenere. Any feedback you have would be awesome.
i like the looks of the Transalp, the engine seems good too, my only issue is the tank capacity (if only it was 20l) and tubed wheels... price wise seems like a great deal.
It has tubed wheels. Did you mean tubeless? It's really hard to do tubeless spoked wheels. BMW used to be the only ones doing it. I'm kinda surprised Honda didn't on this bike. Would have been a cool little perk. They were really trying to keep price down on all their new stuff. I wonder if the Africa Twin is the same way.
The 3 liters will add almost 7 pounds of weight at the top of the bike. I prefer a lower center of gravity and with the 16.9 liter tank it has a 245 mile or 400 Km range.
i wait till we can read : Kate , Winglet ? ...of course onto a red carpet ha ...what do you prefer more tall wheel diameter's or small 16" , 17" ...10" , 12" and what could be the "nice / comfortable " newton meter's to combine tire massures (allrounder bikes , track motorbikes , custom scene )
I would like to see this engine in new generation of Honda NC750 with DCT option. I feel transalp 750 with big rims is more adventure bike rather than sports tourer. NC750 or NT750 with new engine, upgraded brakes and supsension will be nice middle size sports tourer with 17 inch rims. Current NC doesn't lack power and torque but few more horses AND other upgrades are always welcome
So you have ridden it off-road? Mine goes everywhere my mates, GS, tenere, adventure rally goes. As for tubed tyres and cruise control..... The best selling bike in the segment has tubed tyres and no cruise control. 😅
My comment about rev counters on bikes was misunderstood , my intention was to point out the how times have changed aspect of having a fitted rev counter as old geezers like me mostly don’t know what you would use one for , i have had two or three i think and the nature of the bikes wearing them was such that i used them to prevent the big grenade under me but blowing a hole in my new levi’s lol , so no offence was intended and hopefully none given in general i enjoy your reviews ,from a girls point of view is no bad thing👍
Prefer this or the 800RE for city+freeway commuting and no off-roading? Or worth paying more for the F800GS? Trying to go down in size from my 1250GS and I never off-road anyways, lol. Great vids!
Can’t wait to see your review on this bike. I’ve had two 600cc and one 650cc. Both great bikes but I think this one will top them. Riding a Tiger 1050 sport at the moment but thinking of down sizing because of my age 😅
I think have a good look at the cb500x if you think you could be OK with 47hp. It's a lot smaller and more manageable than the transalp. I'm thinking of downsizing. But the t7 TA750 800de 890 adventure. Tiger 900 are all still really big bikes
@@chrishart8548 I have looked at the CB500X and I like the looks but I think it will be underpowered for me. I have also taken. the Tiger 900GT out for a test ride, I liked but then it comes down to price.
@grimbiker even if you give it everything the 500 is not very quick at all. But if you're ready to just chill out and ride a steady pace and treat it more like a 250cc it would be OK. I think I'm probably ready for that now.
cant believe how you can tiptoe on this high seated bike! I am also similar height as you but 850mm seat usually has no chance for me for both side tiptoe!
It because the transalp is a lot lighter than the suzuki. That bike doesn't make you look tiny like the 1200 tiger did and the ktm1290 those bikes are monsters
Great stuff as always Kate. Sadly I just can't get past that headlight. They could've been so much more adventurous with the design, akin to the Africa Twin maybe? Keep up the good work!
Thank you for a really good review. But how would the Transalp perform in the case of driving with a passenger who, together with the luggage, would weigh 180 kg? Has any other Adv bike in a similar price range been better?
Waiting with great patience and increasing anticipation for somebody ... ANYBODY ... to even give us a HINT about where the airbox is on this bike ... and how many minutes/hours/days it takes to access and service. Apparently the most closely guarded secret on the internet ATM!! 😑😑
I was really looking forward to this bike then saw the price. Really disappointed. Can't see the justification as to why its sooo much more than the hornet but this seems to be the way bikes are going
Why would anyone pick this over the 700 Tenere? Most folk don’t want all this silly tech. Also 95bhp my a**se, unless that’s measured at the piston crown.
depends what you're intending to do with the bike. Stock Tenere will spank the Transalp off road in the right hands but the Alp will be better suited to distance touring on road. I'm pretty sure the aftermarket will come up with the necessary to make the Alp a more accomplished off roader in due course. They're both still heavy bikes to pick up, when all's said and done....
Took T7 for test ride. What a bitch of a bike. I have no doubt it'd rock offroad, but it was one of the most brittle I've ever tested on road. I turned back short and couldn't wait to hand it back!! Transalp felt like life long buddy, but until I get some briefing from somewhere about where the sodding airbox is and how much the bike has to be dismantled to service it I ain't signing ANYTHING!!
Firstly a great review and a great bike! Looking to get it as a second bike. Secondly and pls pardon this - but pls stop slapping the bike, I don't know why, but it's a real turn on 😅😍
Hated it! Took it for a test ride at Vurtu Honda and quite possibly the worst bike I've rode and I've ridden a lot! Quickshifter was that bad I nearly fell off my seat every gear change! Slow! And just a little bit lame really..not sure why it got such a good review in the media. The day after took a speed triple out, and granted totally different bikes, I thought it was amazing, yet the press slated it ...I guess don't believe what you read or view and test for yourself. Anyway keep rocking Kate 😊
Please shout at MCN then because Hondas Website only states: Showa 43mm SFF-CA USD Forks, 200mm travel (no mention of adjustability) refers to second trusted source... The nc750 is all about that super frugal engine - that and the modular chassis.
Very informative.
I ride a harley 1200 roadster.
Im looking for a second bike for adventure and touring with good comfort and weather protection?
Honda's cocked up here. It's no off road bike, and the market It's aimed for aren't going to go without tubeless tyres and cruise control.

How does the weight compare with the gs
GS is a good 16 kilos heavier and carries that weight right up high, which makes it very tippy off road.
