Li didn't want her not because he thought she was ugly, he had a problem of marriage being used as a bargaining tool for power because his father did that. He made it clear to the princess brother that he thinks her own brother is using her as a tool which is true. So him refusing the princess had nothing to do with her personally. An by the time the final choice for her marriage had to be made he had already met her as Ma Yao and was loyal to her as that person. Lastly the general is a wolf on sheep's clothing

And when I talked to her about it she say there is no one else but we have (brothers, friends, and neighbors around that stay up late tooo. and when I am in our room I hear her voice talking and than whispering I go out to ask her and she said she only talking to our children. I can handle the truth but I don't know about our children.
