- Jonathan Ferguson, a weapons expert and Keeper of Firearms & Artillery at the Royal Armouries, breaks down the weaponry of Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, including the SPAS-12 shotgun, the Bren light machine gun, and the ridiculous hybrid gun, the Kalashniluger.
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades is a VR shooting gallery that offers up well over 150 firearms from the 18th century all the way through to the modern day, and as a result, it includes a range of weaponry such as the double-action revolver, the Glock 17, and the Barrett M82 rifle.

IT IS, how terrible is it?
What I hate about it the most is that the barrel of the luger doesn't go through the AK Barrel but instead goes through the gas block.
@@mosquitofarmer - It doesn't even go through, it's _worse:_ The barrel is free-floating through the gas piston hole above the chamber, and fires *through* the front gas block. As in the bullet is airborne out of the muzzle then threads the needle through the gas block.

That Kalashnikov Luger is based off a custom by Herbert Werle, who has a UA-cam channel. It does function, quite well in fact, just not necessarily in the way one would expect. The barrel runs through the AK's gas tube, with room to reciprocate, and actually jumps the bullet through the hole under the front sight.

For the SPAS-12, specifically in this game, I’m somewhat disappointed you didn’t talk about how the gun is actually swappable between semi auto and pump action! The developer has done an amazing job at simulating the low power rounds that fail to cycle the action in semi mode

@@mistermann7579 See that doesn't make sense because 5.56 already exists in the game. If it was the same, it would be pointless to have guns like the light machine gun when the minigun and assault carbine already exist.
Also, i believe your getting the 12.7mm Pistol Confused with the 5.56 Pistol, or "That Gun from Blade Runner", in which case, you would be right on the money. The 12.7mm Pistol is actually a variant of a gun which showed up all the way in Fallout 1, as a handgun made by Sig Sauer firing a ginormous 14mm round and feeding from a magazine forward of the trigger guard like a C96.
@@mistermann7579 Josh Sawyer knows what .50 AE is, and he would've named the 12.7mm in New Vegas that if it was. It isn't Action Express. The canonical name for the cartridge is the Hauer Premium Show Stopper 12.7mm civic defense round. .50 AE doesn't exist in the Fallout universe, but the Desert Eagle does (Desert Eagles in Fallout are chambered in .44, there is no .50AE).

I’m so sad he didn’t comment on the fact that the SPAS-12 in game actually can go between Semi-Auto and pump mode, and it’s even for a real purpose! It only works properly in pump mode when using low-pressure shells.
Yeah, the "PEZ dispenser" loading of shotguns is very convenient. At one point I would play the game and just load one at a time from my belt, but once I learned how to group shells into one slot of my belt, loading that is so much easier in an intense mode like the one you've been seeing, Take & Hold.
Come on.. we need a video of him recording in VR with these guns himself.. he’s so intrigued by the footage.

I'd love for him to see some of the newest changes, like the cartridge loading. They no longer just "magic" into the gun, you can see them move from your hand to the magazines.
6:20 Red Orchestra 2 Had adjustable irons with the Kar98k
On every gun actually, apart from some pistols.
Arma 3 did this quite realistically as well.
The whole Red Orchestra/Rising Storms series has sights that you can adjust- sometimes literally just by lowering the irons down on the screen.

If I recall correctly, ArmA has this but without the rear sight realistically moving, but the RHS mod models such details, even the alternative peep sight of the M16 carryhandle sights.

I could watch Jonathan review every single firearms depiction in h3vr and I'd never get bored of it. In fact, please for the love of God do that, that'd be epic.
Really appreciate the part 2! Interesting choice to make this one more about the interactions than the guns themselves. I do still feel it's a missed opportunity to not cover some of the really niche stuff included in H3VR though. It would be really nice to show Jonathan some of the stuff that you really wouldn't see included in other video games. Good video nonetheless.

I want there to be even more videos of this game in particular because it has just a sheer wealth and variety of guns available in the game. Rare ones, first time appearances of. Especially it was quite a enjoyable surprise to see in the previous H3 video that they added the Viper. That is something video games have not shown is rare ones like that. And I am a big weapon and history buff, and it was in a vr to interact with it even.
This was a particularly good one.
It would be nice to see "Post Scriptum" it is a very detailed ww2 game and it features the sight adjusment as well.

I'd love to see him react to Half Life: Alyx or Boneworks. Neither of them exactly have realistic guns or anything, but for VR it's about as good as you can get.
I think the guns in Boneworks are pretty realistic. They even simulate having a round in the chamber, so you can still fire one shot after ejecting the mag.

1:04, one big difference between aiming in VR and in real life is that in VR, everything is always in focus at the same time so being accurate is pretty trivial. Just line it up and you're good. IRL, however, your eye can only focus on one thing at a time. You either focus on the front post and blur the target, or focus on the target and blur the post.
Having Jonathan reviewing payday 2 guns would be fun.

Firearms expert reacts to more ww2 guns
Used to wake up for Saturday morning cartoons, now I wake up for Jonathan breaking down gun realism in videogames.
Honestly just make this series about H3VR, it's got enough guns and I like seeing Jonathan happy every time there's an accurately portrayed gun on screen.
Got a little demolition ranch at the end, I like it.
This dude has what might be my ACTUAL dream job.
I mean, I own guns, but I don't shoot any of them more than MAYBE once a year. I just like their noises, craftsmanship and machining, and he's SURROUNDED by some of the most amazing ones ever made!

The videos with h3vr need to be made into their own series in themselves because there are so many guns to explore! I would also love to see the guy play the game in VR to see what he thinks.
I'd love to see Jonathan and Ian (of FW) play H3VR (post pandemic) and just nerd out about the weird guns in there and the level of detail.
The implications on vr gun showcases are amazing especially for countries without guns allowing them to see function and how they could be used or teach others how guns work, on top of that, it could be used for gun safety training for countries with guns.
6:18 you can adjust your sights in Arma. I don't know whether or not this was already a thing in Arma 1 but in 2 and 3 you certainly can.
Receiver might be an interesting game to cover. Not because of the guns that are in it but because of how the mechanics and how the player interacts with them.
I personally think that there should be a third part of this but it only the cursed guns and wacky attachments.
