Cats have very sensitive hearing, especially for very high frequencies that we cannot hear. For the flute girl for example, the cat might be hearing something that makes him very uncomfortable. Think of it like someone who's deaf blowing an air horn in your ear, and the deaf person wondering why you react aggressively to it.
Correct: the feline is hearing pinch harmonics above 20 kHz. It must be annoying as hell!
I play flute like her and my cat gives no fuck...
@@justdev8965 Yep! Higher pitch harmonics sound even bad to us most of the time, and since they can hear way higher + high pitch sounds are amplified and travel much better the volume could be really high too.
Certain frequencies drive cats nuts. Different for different cats and not necessarily above 20kHz
They would leave if it hurt . They are just annoyed . Think cats survived this long being that dumb

I think they express not hate but care and love. The sounds of flute seem to be dangerous for them, so they try to take someone like a kitten with their teeth and to carry away from there, to save 😁. My cat begins to bite me in such a way when I watch catfight videos - she literally tries to take me away from this awful place holding my hand in her jaws 😈😻.
And find Tubas as comfortable sleeping places. Cats make the best noise mufflers. xD

2:57-3:13 is my favorite. The cat is the least in the way, he's just being kind to the man playing the accordion and being there.
The firsy cat with the flute was bothered by the noise. The second cat reacting to the flute just wanted attention.
It's important to watch your cat's behavior. The cat who wanted attention should be given his own flute, cats like to mirror their owners and often want to be doing whatever their owners are doing. The other cat should be given something to block out the noise that's clearly bothering them.
So I should buy guitars for my cats? Any recommendations? A Catson or a Furender?

I have several kitties, two or three like my lap at times to nestle. I happened to start a whistle, what I term a "whisper whistle" - not full out loud, just a soft murmur of a tune under my breath. In an instant, the cat will perk up and rush to put it's muzzle fully against mine....and I laugh. It's so charming but the noise isn't loud or piercing.
Now you have me imagining the second cat playing a flute duet with his/her owner. So adorable! XD

I think some of the sounds produced by the instruments sound a lot like the sounds cats make when they are in a fighting stance about to start a slap war. So I bet some cats feel threatened by it or don't understand why their owner is being so " combative" in their mind.

I fear for those harps the most. Those things are NOT cheap, and I pity the cat that knocks one of them over!!! The drumming-on-the-box cat and the cat playing with the theremin (that squeaky electronic thing, for lack of better words, when handled by a cat) were my favorites. There are some terrific musicians in this video, as well.

One time, I took a video of myself playing the melodica but my cat, Prudence, interrupted my playing and bit my hand to get me to stop. I think it scares her. It also scares her sister, Nancy, but while Prudence is more of the attacker, Nancy's more of the hider. They also reacted the same way to me playing the saxophone. To their credit though, I did sound like a dying cow. I was just learning to play that instrument. So, I can't blame them for being freaked out by the sounds I was making. One time, I also played a harmonica in front of them and they didn't seem to mind that. In fact, they seemed kind of enchanted by it which is odd since someone once told me that cats don't like the sound of the harmonica.

As someone who plays flute i had a cat that HATED flute music, so any time i played shed march around the house meowing and then come back to rub on my legs to make me stop playing. And she didnt do it with my sister (she played clarinet) just me

That's not true. I've played the violin for 8 years. All of my cats liked it. I even have a cat that rubs against my leg and start purring very loudly when I start playing.
I'd say it depends on the instrument... And on the cat of course.

I think cats prefer percussion and some stringed instruments but not wind ones. Which reminds of a hilarious spongebob episode where squidward conducts saying, "and the drums!".
