The RLCS 2022-2023 season is played in a seasonal format. There are the RLCS Fall Split, the Winter Split and the Spring Split. Each of these seasons are divided into an Open, Cup and Invitational. So for example the first event is called RLCS 2022-2023 Fall Open, the next one RLCS 2022-2023 Fall Cup, the next one RLCS 2022-2023 Fall Invitational. Afterwards there will be the RLCS 2022-2023 Fall Major in Rotterdam.
During the regionals teams collect points to qualify for the major. The season then goes on with the RLCS 2022-2023 Winter Open, the RLCS 2022-2023 Winter Cup and the RLCS 2022-2023 Winter Invitational. The Winter Split is also capped of with a Major, the RLCS 2022-2023 Winter Major. Afterwards it continues with the RLCS 2022-2023 Spring Open, the RLCS 2022-2023 Spring Cup and the RLCS 2022-2023 Spring Invitational. Just like the other to the Spring Split is capped of with a Major, the RLCS 2022-2023 Spring Major. With all the collected points the teams form the Regions Europe (EU), North American (NA), South American (SAM), Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Sub Saharan Africa (SSA), Oceania (OCE) and Asia Pacific (APAC) will then qualify for the RLCS 2022-2023 World Championship.
The teams that are competing this season inculde: G2 Esports, NRG, Version1 (V1), Spacestation Gaming (SSG), GenG, Dignitas, Optic Gaming, Complexity, Rogue, Furia, Shopify Rebellion, XSET, Pittsburgh Knights, Luminosity, Team AXLE, Moist Esports, Team BDS, Endpoint CEX, KarmineCorp (KCorp), Evil Geniuses (EG), Team Vitality, Oxygen Esports, Team Liquid, SK Gaming, Guild Esports, Solary, GamersFirst (G1), Team Falcons, Team PWR and many more!

Yeah I agree, and if you have to change the age. Why not set the bar at 14 and see how that works out first. Seems like a bit of a risky and unnecessary change.

I actually stopped watching for a few seasons straight but got back into it this last season. It's been painful waiting for news of the season starting. Seeing the teams finally giving their official announcements and RLCS being announced, I'm now drooling lol.
i mean 13 is a good age for people to compete especially with all the young prodigies out there,gives them a chance to get their name out there for better opportunities..the only downside i see from it is they are so young and might not be mature enough to start something that big so early
Also it gives an incentive to go all in here and put their education on the back burner which is risky with players like fk, zen, appjack, crr, beast mode ... Just all round too risky I think
You do realize that if a 13 year old competes they would lose their education, would be unprepared with responsibility, etc

13 is very young. I doubt that 13 yo will have the maturity to handle the pro scene, but I am excited to see youngsters play.

With the new age requirements, I think they are really trying to get the younger kids in Fortnite to transition to rocket league. Another reason they put Rocket Racing in Fortnite. Once kids start getting in their teens, they start transitioning to other games, what better than to transition to another Epic Game (For Epic). I personally hate how immature the pros are and wish there was a 18 or older clause.

There are 12 year old Grand Masters in chess. Should chess GMs be limited to only 18 and over too? I mean due to the stress, time commitment, loss of personal life, lack of maturity, distraction from school, traveling, that younger people have to deal with?

I think a main issue I have with lowering the pro age is that the 13-15 age is when the upcoming pros built their name and got some serious games in. Pros knew of jstn, daniel and zen before the public did. I imagine they are all in some-what of a hidden pro community where some cracked kids get the opportunity to run 6mans out of the view from the oublic.
Lowering the age changes that “bubble team” dynamic which will naturally cascade to the 10-12 range
