I don’t feel bad for any of them and I don’t care who snitched. When you get rich and have enough money to leave a bad lifestyle behind but still decide to live it, that’s your fault.
Yes he admitted with his signature that YSL is a gang and record label. He also signed his signature to admitting that YSL committed crimes as a gang. He also pleaded guilty to his crimes within the gang/record label. PERIOD!
Exactly. He admitted they were a gang AND agreed to testify if called to the stand. So even if they don't call him to the stand, you already agreed that you would if necessary. Son isn't right.
I feel bad for atlanta . Times like this makes me think of the norm macdonald joke about cosby's "worst' trait being hypocrisy except substitute hypocrisy with snitching. Snitching is nothing compared to the murders, shootings (at regular civilains as well) and drug dealing.
DA: mr snitching are you a loyal friend to Jeffrey ? Gunna: yes ma’am DA: mr . snitchings is ysl a gang? Gunna: yes ma’am DA: mr snitchings are you a snitch Gunna :no ma’am
I think if their is already signs of gang activities prior to reviewing lyrics, then the lyrics should be admissible. The lyrics alone shouldn't be used to convict the artist.
This is exactly what the courts do though. Recently there has been a huge misunderstanding that the courts are just using any random statements made in rap lyrics or social media posts as evidence of crimes. The truth is that these statements on those platforms have to be corroborated with other evidence. For instance, if someone says in a song “I have a gun and it shoots” this is not relevant to anything. However if someone says “had that AK in my hand when I robbed that woman alongside my friend Thomas” and Thomas is on trial for a robbery of a woman, it may come into question that you may be an accessory to that robbery and thus, relevant for questioning in a court setting.
The use of Rap lyrics is a problem only for artists still associated with crime. Nas on his new album talked about being at award shows wanting to rob the other celebrities of their jewelry. He’s not going to be indicted for jewelry theft. But if his crew was associated with crimes that included robbery then they’d use it. Rap and don’t do crime, you’re good.
I can’t believe this channel is promoting the street mentality by using the word “snitch” in the title of this video! So does this channel advocate for withholding evidence in a felony case? Goofy
I disagree with this lady. These guys are not pretending to be gangster we all know it. Why do we have to pretend that these guys are not who we think they are. If you make a song describing a murder in your song and it matches evidences don't be surprised if the police comes knocking at your door.
Those defendants pleading not guilty and going to trial are looking at potentially decades, even life, behind bars for their respective charges. Gonna be an uphill battle for defense counsel for sure with the already monstrous amount of evidence stacked against them to begin with plus the defendants agreeing to testify against their co-conspirators. Gonna be hard to refute their claims. Plus most citizens in Georgia have little or no sympathy and tolerance for affiliated gang members, so a jury would not need much convincing to get a unanimous guilty verdict for each defendant for each charge. Get the popcorn ready for this upcoming dumpster fire.
Drake raps in the song that he's down with the mob and he has ties. The example was to drive home that all lyrics shouldn't be used to establish criminal affiliations and wrong doing.
Honestly if our hip-hop is about shooting people and killing people then I am more than happy to have it be totally attacked. I hope that this leads to less violent and disgusting music, music that doesn’t poison the ears of our youth😮
People are making this a big deal when it really isn't. A lot of members who were way more involved in YSL's criminal activity had already taken plea deals before Gunna, a guy that wasn't really considered instrumental in YSL's criminal side whatsoever. Considering all this, specifically Gunna's plea deal won't really matter at all moving forward.
The fact that ppl are harping on these rap lyrics being used as if it's the ONLY evidence they have.. Think... The DA not only going to come to trial with JUST rap lyrics. Those are subjective, and circumstantial.. They are locked and loaded with evidence been building for years... ppl on the outside cn say what they would do. When you behind those walls facing life, different game, especially if you know your guilty and they cn prove it.... be realistic ppl
Your daughter comes home one day and reveals that she's "fallen in love with the most amazing man"... You open the door and see this.... What do u do next as a father? Handgun? Shotgun? Rifle?
I’m really confused. Of all entertainment fields only rappers have this strict code of “keeping it real “, no ghost writers, talk about what you have been through. But when it comes to standing on that code they can choose what should be believed. To me this is just keeping it real has gone too far. Freedom of speech has nothing to do with this case.
@ShayShay W I think it's because they may still be in the jury selection phase. That's usually not televised because of confidentiality. So maybe once it actually starts, we will find it somewhere. I'll he looking, and if I do, I will report back to this post, so keep your notifications on.
I hate when I hear people tell people don’t do self snitching, or they complain about cooperating witnesses, or they blame the judicial system for using their words (be it in music, in a video, on their written words). Why don’t they tell these individuals to stop committing crimes and if they do commit crimes then they are agreeing to also except the consequences… What about using this outrage to advocate for the victim/s! These same people don’t argue this position when it is them or their family in the receiving end of the crime!
Everybody wants to be your friend until the s*** hits the fan killing people is not art and associating yourself doesn't make you an artist makes you criminal just like the person who commits the ACT
Song lyrics should absolutely be admissible in court in addition to actual evidence. In other words, they shouldn’t be used to make the case, they should be used to seal the deal.
There should be conditions. You should use lyrics against someone only when they hint at crime details that aren't public knowledge. Lyrics shouldn't be used as a (for lack of a better term) "character witness" against someone. Basically my lyrics shouldn't be used to paint me as a menace to the jury. At the end of the day the lyrics are fiction until proven otherwise, and if they are proven to be true than you didn't need the lyrics anyway.
