      @MastemaJack I'd say more freak fights than fixed. Yes the judges were paid most of the time. But the level of talent was so high it was rarely left to them anyway. An example being Rampage. He talks about how they had it out for him so he decided to finish he fights convincingly (slam ko)

    Everyone dislikes the UFC so much even though it became the biggest. Pride was so much creative with the events and the mystery of the fighters.

    The pride 2004 heavyweight tournament was something else. The whole introduction ceremony for that event was a different level.

    Pride was so much better. They had the best tournaments, storylines like Japan vs Gracie’s, Big vs Small, just tons of different things to mix it up and make more spectacle. For me as a youngster it was like pro wrestling but unscripted and real… and sometimes people got soccer kicked.

      Feel so fortunate to have bought one of their last events that was good live when I was 15 with a friend, when they had the tournament that ended with Crocop head kicking Wanderlei. A totally different event then UFC.

I remember me and that same friend bought the Kelly Pavlik Jermain Taylor boxing fight, and others like Tomas Adamek fights, back then as teenagers it felt worth it. Wouldn't even think of buying a majority of the ppvs now, if any, just watch them online for free, even free I don't even watch every fight like I used to

      Lenne Hardt's voice was something else. Her introductions of Fedor, Cro Cop and Minotauro were among the best of combat sports. I loved how she would switch up her wording when saying fighters names.
      It's as if no intro from her was always different.

    Pride was the real deal. I imagine it today having all the crossovers as well. Like a Floyd vs Conor would happen in pride . The ringwalks was mad, the flags the show and everything. UFC became more strict and serious, not much room for fighter creativity or showmanship. But I like the ufc fights but it lacks heavily compared to the versatility Pride offered

    A lot of people thought Brian Ortega’s walkout in the Volkanovski fight was goofy, but I enjoy that kind of spectacle and showmanship. At the end of the day we watch fighting because it’s entertaining, and it doesn’t always have to be bland and serious.

    Taking away kick head strikes to grounded opponents and the yellow card for stalling was the worst thing to happen in MMA. It became a wrestlers grapplers game after that, the cage instead of ropes also helped that.

    I miss the old Pride days. Them shows were wild. Everyone was juiced to the giles and that’s why the fights were so off the scale. How it just faded away was a disaster. It should have still been the No1 organisation for MMA

    Best ruleset ever best type of criteria for decisions. 10 minute rounds... Get close to win with punches or submission... Takedowns didn't decided the fight with a fighter pulled guard and was dangerous he could win the match.... Ufc you can take a beat if you score a takedown in last minute of the round you get 10 9.

    UFC made the right move when introducing the BMF belt. But it was nothing different than a championship belt. They need to bring back tournaments again. More weight classes. Do bouts with open weight. Something to spice this shit up.

    Overeem loved the Pride organization because they didn’t test them for anything and he was juiced up to the gills with anything and everything! When he was in the UFC competing after they started testing him he didn’t even look like the same person! They should just let everyone do whatever the hell they want to do and not bother them,it would be a whole hell of a lot more entertaining if they did. Back in the day everyone of them were on the juice and they were all raging beasts!!!

    Pride felt special... Like watching God's fight! And I'll still argue you put the top 5 pride HW's from its peak in against the current UFC top 5 HW division and the UFC guys are likely getting smashed.. probably say the same for the current LHW division too. 😬

    I still miss Pride. UFC started like that but now while it’s very skilled it’s like WWE level fake beef & then the same very refereed fights. Pride was just two animals set loose.
