Spent almost £1000 on my pc(so far), more than that on dcs, then another £350 for warthog joystick and throttle (not including previously paying for x-52 and x-56 on each upgrade), £600 on pendular pedals, another £300 or so on vr as well as a few hundred on each monitor..... it all adds up but damn is it worth it! For JD: I like your comfy-couch / massive-wall-mount-TV sim-pit arrangement! It is somewhat similar to mine, except I use a ceiling-mounted projector onto my basement wall. And a separate chair in front of the couch. Also, I put the TrackIR lamp/camera behind my head (on a box on the couch) with my reflector hat-clip facing backwards (& downwards a bit). Just gotta invert the axis in the settings and tweak those curves a bit. Works great!

I know this is a old video, but a tip to all of you HOTAS Warthog users:
Place the stick in between your legs on your chair, the flat base is perfect for it and i got way more precise movement like that.
Or place it at thigh height to your sides, the movement is, for me atleast, way more precise and relaxed.

How to install a SATA HDD
It requires two cables one power cable and one SATA cable.
The cable that flashed by is an adapter that turns 4 pin power connectors into the standards that modern HDD's use. You might not have one of those available. But i would preffer to run a cable of the correct type directly from the transformer. You probably got a few extra such cables with the computer.
Connect that power cable up and then get a SATA cable that you plug into a SATA port on the motherboard (check where the two HDD's are connected that's where they are)
Now the HDD is powered and connected to the motherboard.
The HDD also needs to be mounted, this can be done with an adapted in a 3.5 slot or straight up in a 2.5 slot.
The 2.5 slots use the screws in the bottom of the drives and the adapters use either one.
When that is all done you need to create a partition on the drive so that it shows up you do that with the program "Computer management"

You need a HOTAS Warthog Cap. Also a new monitor. Also more storage space. I have about 16 GB of storage plugged in right now and am using most of it. I do use about 13 flight sims though. Love the comfort and homeliness of your setup though. Not sure about keeping beverages so close to your rig. I got some great ideas watching this. I recently bought a PS3 camera to try out FaceTrack NoIR, but couldn't get that to work. Just the other day I ordered a Delan IR unit so should be able to use that with the PS3 camera and Open Track or something. I will be using duct tape now :). I liked the custom Warthog base to centre it in another video. Been looking at desk clamps but I think I might prefer something homemade and ground mounted.

Cap, for plugging your SSD, you need to plug the sata cable into the motherboard and the other end into your ssd. The place of the port depends on the motherboard type, but should be in the neighbourhood of the other SSD's SATA cables.

I will stick to my TM Hotas X, Saitek rudder pedals and TrackIR for now. But still, I need to get meself a Warthog throttle&stick soon. Virpil and VKB are just a bit too pricey atmo; maybe I will get a Virpil T-50 or WarBRD base later and use it with the Warthog grip?

Or however it works. Can you link me to the most recent video of everyone's newer equipment? Just guessing since DCS is a later version now requiring more horses that there have been upgrades in over 3 years since the video was recorded. thanks !

I love this looking at my crowded messy desk, remembering breaking a keyboard and/or headset every few months. Just recently upgraded my cheap broken hotas 2nd hand, got a track ir 5 also 2nd hand. I used to buy replacement cover for my headsets, was well worth the money. Most recent headset is a year old, and a decent keyboard that's lasted 4 years now, after stripping and cleaning it after a spill, had a better one but you guessed, killed that with cider!

Cap, for headset recommendations: As an audio guy, my recommendation is to get a set of studio headphones and a clip on mic. You'll generally get a better price than a high end gaming headset (which sounds like crap in comparison).
Beyerdynamic DT990's are great for instance! Going for a cheaper set will still yield better results than a gaming headset!
And havoc has great taste in whisky!
