Sabbath, AC/DC and Van Halen succeeded with replacing vocalist... Motley tried and didn’t succeed... Because it was a different time? Tommy blames producer Bobby Rock... I’ve always thought the name ‘Motley Scream’ could’ve worked... Regardless- this is my favorite album - it just didn’t pass the bubblegum test- ;(
Corabi is an Awesome vocalist....Thanx for posting this! I'm here bc I noticed he was gonna release a new cd... One Night in Nashville....and Misunderstood was on it,,,, powerful song!
Funny you should say that. I just got that cd in the mail today. Ordered from Rat Pak Records. It came autographed with a guitar pick, sticker, and pass.
When Theater Of Pain came out....I was done. Too pop, too commercial and Crue continued this in the next few years while myself and others were listening to heavier and better crafted bands. In 94, I was working in a very isolated place out in the bush with rare visits to civilization to get supplies. And I needed fresh tunes (cassetes lol) for my walkman. And the new crue was in the bargain rack at a gas station. It was an awesome Crue album ! Ill akways have a place for TFFL and Shout. But this album kicked ass. Too bad the timing was all wrong. Plus the millions of fans of the original cheezy commercial Vince version of Crue would never let that go. Corabi is really good and desearves much respect. Cheers buddy.
Motley Crue sounds like Motley Crue because of Vince. Corabi and the music was so vastly different, it wasn't MC. Great music, but they should have scratched the name. It was MC by name only, with nothing about it resembling MC. So, of course fans (myself included) didn't accept it. They had just finished their most successful album, put out a decade of decadence album to celebrate their years together, and boom, new singer. Also, the internet wasn't accessible for everyone, so there wasn't months and months to mentally prepare for an entirely new band. Regardless of J Corabi's superior talent, Vince's absence was like a family member being gone. You just don't get over it. In retrospect, Corabi's album is great, I listen to it all the time, I bought it at the time, it just wasn't MC. By that time, I was so entrenched in bands like Tool, I didn't even care if they got Vince back. Corabi was a victim of the time period. People moved on. But, the album still holds up. He can still sing. Those guys could have easily gotten together since then, because MC was broken up a bunch of times. But those guys realized that the name is what sells, and the name isn't Motley Crue without Vince, so even Tommy and Vince sucked up their dislike for each other and got back together. Its telling, because they moved on without Tommy at one point and still had their biggest tour in years. It just says how intrical Vince's voice is for that particular band. Still waiting on the Mars/Corabi collaboration....
I love the fact he's playing an Epiphone, sounds great. His album with Crue is so much better than anything else they did, for me at least. He's a much better singer than Vince.
A hell of a singer and guitar player. Love the Crue 94 album. They just shouldve put it out under another name. It wasnt crue but totally awesome in it's own right. If a new band put that out in 94 it would've been a hit. Just crue fan boys hated it and I understand. But even in 94 this album rocked as a hard rock album
I believe Motley Crue would still be making albums if Corabi had stayed. The self titled album was good no matter what some fans say. And I have a feeling Generation Swine would not have sucked if Corabi was involved. Even today Nikki Sixx states he is in a better place with Sixx AM. The band works together and not against each other. The same thing happened when Corabi was with the Crue.
@@benkrimson Still Generation Swine ended up being CLEARLY different of what was going to be WITH him being heavily involved in the band. We only got 2 demos of at the time was gonna be "Personality #9" (the original name which imo was a pretty fucking Kick ass name in comparison to Generation but whatever...) But all we got was a demo of "Let us Pray" which was a *lot* heavier with John. And then a demo of an unreleased song called "Say Goodbye" which apparently later was transformed in "Enslaved" .... From that you can get the perspective....
Well it was pretty clear that they wanted to expand their sound. Vince stated that Generation Swine and the following records sucked because they were "Too Experimental". Vince is just lazy and doesn't want to leave a confort zone that is not even that confortable for him anymore. John has been actively working in several bands through the years. So yeah, 100% sure that if Corabi was still in the band, Crue would be putting out albums every 2-3 years, and always trying to keep experimenting.

Even though they didn't have as much success as motly with Vence as they did with John he was a much better singer and the assholes won't even give John his due and say he was in the band on interviews.thats bullshit cause if they where any kind of band they would be proud of everything they done,so the way I see it is they wasn't worthy of John's presents.i think he's a killer singer
The only thing I could think of hearing the first four bars of this song is being a little boy in 1970 while listening to the Beatles "Hey Jude." I can't believe Mick Marrs or Nikki Sixx could allow that selection of notes to be recorded, released, or performed live like that...

Motley Crue and John corabi didn't get enough credit for this and it was the fans that wouldn't give it to them. Truth.

Corabi is the best thing that ever happened to Motley Crue. He gave crue a more menacing sound. Period.
