They are doing all kinds of annoying wierd things with comment section, the adds spin the comments back to beginning making it impossible to read normally. That's just 1 of the odd things seemingly without reason. I'm not getting email notifications any longer or notifications consistently if someone comments specifically to me,that's totally random.
The other inmates threaten her all the time, call her baby killer, she's been beaten up at least once, and the kitchen staff has been known to heavily salt her food. I love it
I have heard this case covered by others and thet point out that detail. Even despite the mom, what that doctor did was extremely inappropriate. There should have been a lot more testing and other treatments before major surgery. I also heard this is a factor in his death, because he was unable to vomit
I was confused how she convinced someone to do it. My son has a feeding tube so I'm in facebook groups for kids who are tube fed and some of them actualky needed the oricedure. But it took years of testing and trying different methods, different foods, and medications, switching what type of feeding tube they had, how much and how often they eat, etc before the doctor decided to do that procedure as a last resort. To hear someone who didn't need it got it done just because a parent lied about his health is crazy
@@shirleymarie2288Sounds like they want to take a lot of other steps before performing an invasive surgery. And that certainly would take up a lot of time. It makes this a little scarier (to me) that a doctor was willing to just go ahead and perform the surgery.
That's what infuriates me. They're too cowardly to do it to themselves, so they torture children instead. These wretched people don't deserve to breathe our oxygen. I say get them out of the gene pool and don't bother wasting tax dollars on keeping them fed and housed in prison for the next 40-70 years.
This kills me, it's so incredibly heartbreaking. I lost my 12 year old son in 2012 to cancer. He was so strong and brave, never complained about surgeries or weekly blood work, not even about chemo. The only thing that terrified him was getting an NG tube placed. He absolutely hated it. He said it hurt and made his throat hurt and he felt weird. Thinking about everything he went through, it was so hard for me to watch him get those tubes placed, because I knew how much he hated it. I took him all over the world in search of something that could help him, he had a very rare type of cancer that Children's Dallas, never even heard of. I bargained and begged every entity I could think of to help him. I would have done anything to keep him alive.....then there's this woman. So disgusting, there's not even an adequate adjective to describe it.
That's terrible I hate that happened to him and to you. I completely agree with 3 children of my own how could someone do this to their child. It's obvious after seeing all the pieces that she was extremely mentally ill and had no business ever being around a child hers or anyone else's
Im a nurse and when I was working on Peds one of my patients, his Mom was doing this. He was in and out of the hospital all the time, and ended up having a trach at age 12 months. She acted like the staff were her best friends and having him hospitalized was her social activity. The mother ended up committing suicide when he was 2. He was never hospitalized again after her death.
My heart dropped when you said she’d finally gotten pregnant. I just knew that the baby was in for a level of torment that no one should ever experience.
sadly enough our wicked and heartless society doesn't see anything wrong with abuse until theres a death! children or teens can be just as cruel and self centered, and get away with it, there was a young teen she had no heart no compassion, her mother told her that her boyfriend was a thief and no longer welcome, so daughter says to bf kill her so as the bf was stabbing her mother to death she took a 9in butchers knife to her 5 yearold sister, heres where the catch to the story is her daddy like biden had political standing and power, and as biden did with making the prosecutor and judge who was trying to put his boy away for life disappear her daddy did the same thing diplomat immunity from any type of prosecution, the bitch never seen the inside of a court room and was just held long enough for daddy to get her off and yes she had just turned 18 a month earlier, as for the bf a 15 to life sentence, in prison reality a death sentence a week after he entered prison other inmates heard of his heartless crime, and by the next Friday he was standing before the judgement throne of Christ! the future of country is one of concentration camps, i see my great grandchildren facing gas chambers live cremation's if biden get his way!
It started the day he was born, when she named him Garnet?!poor little guy. What she did to her own son makes you wonder what her plans were for the children she looked after before he was born🤔 I'll bet the mum that stopped her looking after her boy at daycare hugged him so tight when she heard about this
I took my 5yo son to the ER because I thought he had the flu. After his initial workup, I noticed the security guard post himself right in front of us. It went right over my head. Then I noticed the nurse's talking to each other and watching us intently. I got this crazy hot feeling come over me and tried to stay calm. The next thing I knew, this young Dr was telling me that they have contacted the state out of concern that I was abusing my son. I told him fine, because I knew that was not the case at all and I will take the police myself to my house and I welcome the investigation. Ten minutes go by, and the Dr tells me that since they already made the call to the state that the investigator is coming right away, that they can't call it off. But they now know that he really is sick and they are sending us to the children's hospital because they think he has lymphoma! 25 years and a bone marrow transplant later, I can still feel that crazy hot feeling come over me anytime I think about that day in 1998!! My son is doing very well and I hold nothing against the hospital for making the decision that they did. Infact after watching this, I'm 100% sure that they made the right call!!
they’re so afraid they’ll miss something and a child will continue to suffer that they mistake innocent things for abuse. Some over analyze while others turn a blind eye. Thankful your son is doing well!!!
@@elizabethnorris4064 Right and I'm sorry, but i feel like a chunk of information is missing from that story; people take their kids to the hospital all the time for the flu/fevers/colds......they were watching for a reason and I doubt it's because "she looks like a child ab*ser, keep and eye on her" they did that for a reason
You know it’s bad when no one believes you when you say you were molested. That could explain all the early behaviour here, which, without help, escalated and ends up in this tragedy and her later lies.
These are monsters killing innocent children. Mental health problem or not. They are killers. Do you really think this is treatable so that the adult won't ever put another child through this suffering? I think not. I think this is their core being. They are selfish to the core and all they want is to get attention for themselves and to control the health of a defenceless child. I think they will never be really able to really care for another human being. It's always about them.
@@GT--BTSI mean it can be an uncontrollable compulsive mental illness that is not a choice AND be something incurable where you cannot be trusted around vulnerable people. Factor 1/primary psychopathy is a neurological difference and there are some prosocial examples such as surgeons or CEOs who don't commit crimes. Factor 2/secondary psychopathy (sociopathy) is known to be associated with a confluence of early childhood environmental factors like violence, poverty and crime. Whether someone is incurable, evil, and/or can be trusted around other people are 3 different things thst should be evaluated independently of ec other.
I thought the exact same thing! Children love their parents, even when the “parents” don’t deserve it whatsoever!!! I feel so heartbroken for that little person!
Munchausen by proxy is, to me, one of the most fascinating and devastating forms of psychological abuse a person can subject another to. This poor baby only knew this life as unnecessary suffering, and at the hands of the one person he ever knew to depend on and trust. It's sick. And it's maddening that people saw and recorded it 3 times before he was even 6 months old. The type of person who would do this to their child is inconceivably evil and a fundamentally broken and wrong human being, in my book. It takes a special kind of monster to be so self absorbed they exploit their own flesh and blood as a pawn for their own sick satisfaction.
I agree 100% but I don't think they do it on purpose or that they are that evil and twisted that they get satisfaction from their own child suffering (maybe some do) I think they really believe they are try to take care of thier child and or bettering their life's by attracting all this attention and support, in their own sick mind they really do believe they are doing the right thing, which is hard to understand, mother's who suffer from this are crying out, but in the wrong way, but they don't know how else to show love to their child or themselves, I am truly fascinated by this mental illness as well.
@khaightlynn I have been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and as messed up and unusual as my mind is I STILL cannot wrap my mind around purposely harming my child just for sympathy or attention??? You're right it is sick and sadistic. I don't get it at all.
@@siaradahlin5035 I'm sorry I cannot agree that a mother purposefully putting salt in her son's feeding tube, literally poisoning the kid, is at all concerned with the child's wellbeing and not her own pathological need for attention. It has nothing to do with the kid. He was just a doll to her to use as she wanted. Granted, I'm sure her mental illness comes from somewhere, but it doesnt in any way make it less abhorrent or more understandable. They cannot honestly think they are doing the right thing. Some woowoo types do have the kid in mind and are just inadvertently harming them with their beliefs, but there is no way that that mom was doing anything for that kid, who she literally tricked into existence to be her doll. Like, how do you *give* someone an ear infection??? Let alone a newborn, let alone literally every child in her care, which is known, and still not acknowledge those huge red flags
@@mallorycannon3011 you're basically saying "mines bigger than yours". You both have possibly dehabilitating mental illnesses and attempting to equate them is terrible. Have some empathy.
I couldn't imagine a parent wanting their child cut open surgically without any benefit. Causing pain and suffering towards a perfectly healthy child. Terrifying.
@@mikecinema7443 that doesn't happen period. No sex change operations on children in the US. You are being transphobic and spreading misinformation. The only available medical service for trans youth is a puberty blocker which they can't access without substantial therapy beforehand and approval by multiple doctors that it will benefit the child. Even then the blockers only work while being actively taken, as soon as they stop the hormone production will go back to normal. All you are doing by spewing hate is giving more fodder for abusers and increasing the suicide risk for children. How dare you spew deadly child abuse with your rhetoric in the comments of a video about a woman murdering her child? You don't sound much different, except you hope all kids with gender dysphoria kill themselves due to outright spewing hateful misinformation and trying to get people to join in on it? No you are awful
This case is why I give ppl the side eye when they constantly post about their children’s illness. Ppl love to use their sick children for exposure. They feed off social media and sympathy.
💯 one of my FB friends seems to be doing this right now. I'm seeing so many red flags and have a really bad feeling about her child. Something is wrong like every week and he's always going to a doctor appointment.
I worked with three cases of MSB during my career and these cases are so complicated and hard to prove. I cannot express the frustration of having to watch a child die slowly but not being able to protect the child. It took a toll on me.
It's only "complicated" if the investigation of clues is by a government agency. This poor child didn't get any help (too late) until actual doctors were allowed to investigate the medical facts. The bureacracy is incompetent and unresponsive.
@Cee Dub619cameraman it strikes me really strange that you see the label as an “excuse”. It’s not an “excuse, it’s a description of a pathological behavior leading to abuse.
I've seen stories on lacey before but never anything about her earlier life. Knowing that she caused harm to so many children and her compulsion to lie is such red flags
I despise people like her, it's an annoying personality trait. Lies and attention seeking but if I thought someone was harming their kid for attention I'd raise hell till someone listened. Sometimes the privacy act is more of a problem than a help. It shouldn't even be a thing with kids, the information should be accessible to any hospital or Dr. I had open heart surgery and it's no little thing plus the scar is a real give away. I also has mersa I have no idea how I got it but it makes you seriously ill. Oh God another anti vaxer, just what the world doesn't need. 🙄

When my son was born he had to be admitted at 2 weeks for not breastfeeding or taking a bottle. I took not one picture, I was absolutely terrified and destroyed and thought of nothing else. I slept in a recliner so I didn't have to leave him, hearing and watching this story is litterally making me sick to my stomach.
I had the same reaction when my daughter was in PICU in a diabetic coma (that’s how we found out that she was type 1 diabetic). I didn’t post about it or even call anyone outside my immediate family. I was too distraught! I honestly cannot understand how people can just post about this shit
@@austyn5004 Dude same. I didn't even want to answer my phone for the people that I had told what was going on. I even gave my mom and my partner warnings that if I didn't answer the phone. I had no room and was sleeping in the stupid recliners that they have in the Nick you and one night a room in the nickel for really. I’m so sorry.Did your child have failure to thrive ? I am a retired nurse and for almost 5 years between nursing babies, I went back to work at 8 weeks post natal. I worked in the ER. I would go up to the NICU and pumped my milk with a great commercial pump. ( I had enough milk for a third world country, lol) I would pump at least 3 times a night as I worked graveyards. The NICU , I’m sure there are many babies, now in late 30’s who were able to have my milk. I am against formula, not that there is anything wrong with it, but IMO breast is best. I did what I did because I enjoyed nursing my babies. I’d like to think there are young people out there that made it due to my milk.
After watching the 1 hour doc and now this, I truly blame the hospitals and doctors for not stopping this woman. They knew she was putting this child in danger that went in for years!
I have to agree with you 100%. I'm going to say what I believe to be true...many medical services and procedures are about making money. Surely, any honest professional would have seen this. It's heart breaking to think that money motivated them. This boy child suffered so needlessly.
I took my 8 year old daughter to the er with a broken arm. She was riding on the handlebars of her friends bike. The friend stopped my daughter didn't. The Dr called the police because he said it was the second time her arm was broken and my daughter said she didn't want to tell them what happened. I was pissed then laughing at the bs. My daughter never has any injury before this, she didn't want to tell them what happened, because she had been told repeatedly not to ride in the handlebars. She understood the danger and took the risk. She thought the Dr's would be upset because she knew better. 😊
It's always *after* a child dies that all the pieces are put together. There should be a national database that doctors can use that red flags people who doctors suspect of having MSbP. That way, doctors could see a history of MSbP behavior. Jiles, this is one of the saddest videos you've ever done. It had to have been rough researching this one. ♡
It's getting closer and closer to being able to do that. I work at a hospital right now I can open the chart history and see several different hospitals data all there, some clinics and outpatient settings too. But not everybody's connected yet. I've even taken care of at least one patient that is attention-seeking for medical care (not just pain pills which is very common) and the doctors can communicate across different campuses there. Or leave notes that the next ER doctor can read. The issue now is getting every clinic and hospital connected like that.
There should be a list of bad doctors as well. My wife had pain in her shoulder and was told that it was all mental and she needed to go to church and make friends. 6 months later she finally was able to get everything looked at and go figure she had 2 fractured bones in her clavicle. So that works both ways...
In the UK we have medical records that are available for any healthcare professional to see, anywhere in the country, from birth. It would be very difficult for someone with MSP to get to this level without being detected. As angry as I am with Spears, she did need professional help and people forget that in their comments.
@@busylawbee unfortunately, mental disorders such as MSbP, are hard to treat, especially if the person to be treated lacks insight or desire to be helped.
Now days they accuse parents who generally want answers for there medically challenged children and let the people who actually have msbp slowly kill there children

I've known about this insane disorder for a long time, I have no doubt my oldest sons grandmother his dad's mom had this, if it wasn't her being sick it was making an nuisance out of herself over one of her kids and everything they had when they were little, she had 4 so it was a lot of unwanted information. She thrived off reliving anything they had, I always wondered how much illness was real or a lie or caused by her. One of the wildest non-baby killing related things about Garnett’s murder is how Lacey managed to afford all that medical stuff on a regular basis. Church donations can only go so far when you’re dragging your victim to the hospital every other day for the damage you’ve caused.
Anyone who has had medical debt can tell you that. Doesnt take much and you're paying 10 different places - doctors, labs, imaging, ambulance...who knows where else! The mail carrier must have needed a wheelbarrow to deliver those hospital bills - i was getting giant stacks of them from a 4 and 6 day stay.
I was wondering about this. I live in a country with public Healthcare so we can walk into a hospital anywhere and get free treatment, doctor and dental visits are also free for under 18's. How did she afford it? Was she just allowing debt to pile up or can you apply for medical insurance from birth in the US?
@@OOhlUkaTmEImGanSTa I’m not too sure on the whole insurance thing, so I’m gonna go ahead and assume she was just letting the debt pile up. I also feel like being a single mom drowning in debt due to a perpetually -poisoned- sick child probably brought in even more of the attention she so craved.
@@OOhlUkaTmEImGanSTain the US most insurance will either cover a majority of your bill or rarely cover it 100%, for Lacey if she has insurance, with all the visits she took it would still come out to thousands of dollars in debt bc there’s no way to pay it all off in time especially when you’re going to the hospital every week/a few times a month, especially for the surgeries. She most likely let insurance cover most of it and then let the rest turn into debt. You CAN find programs that help with medical debt, but most Americans let their debt sit and never pay it. A lot of medical debt will be cleared completely after 7 years of original issue date (unless it’s a big debt like surgeries, debt collectors will hunt you down for those).
That mother who continued to let lacy see her son when she pretended it was her son... I don't understand that! I would immediately stop giving my child to her
My cousin used to pretend my niece or her niece were hers in highschool; I called her out for it and never spoke to her again. Definitely something that shouldn't be overlooked.
After his first seizure at three months, my son was hospitalized at UVA in Virginia for about a week with EEG leads glued to his head. In the room there was a camera above his crib, and two more off to the sides and if you blocked any of the cameras for more than a second or two, the nurse would intercom in asking to clear the view, and I mean they were on it. My wife asked why there were so strict about that and I immediately remembered this case.
I recently became a father, and I cannot fathom how parents can knowingly harm their child for any reason. You are their sole provider and protector and to break that trust is inhumane and egregious
The photo at 19mins is absolutely heartbreaking. There's so much love and admiration in that little boys eyes while he's looking at his mum. I've heard this story before, but it's not one that's ever had me feel any less angry or sad. I understand that drs are afraid of being sued which I think is a very American problem because it rarely happens elsewhere (at least in Australia). The multi-system failings in this case is disgusting.
I'm pretty sure that there are many documented cases of factitious disorder imposed on another in Australia it is defiantly not "an American thing". I'm a nurse in Australia and I have personally looked after a young girl who's mother was diagnosed with this disorder
@@ChrissyGreen you misunderstood what I said. I was referring to drs being sued. It's not something we readily do here, especially with the set of circumstances the drs in America tend to have.
There is something especially evil about a mother harming her own child for years for attention. I understand. I hope she loves the rest of her life miserable.
Lacey is just a frightening person. I don’t know how any mother could wish her child ill. I absolutely hate when my children are sick…even with common ailments.
That's because you are Normal. I personally think if you are doing things to harm children, even with a legitimate mental health condition that steps should be taken to remove said person from the gene pool. Sometimes I wonder why Eugenics got such a bad rap. We say thats deplorable yet we allow people like this to have children, even vote!
It makes you wonder how people even get fucked up in this way. That must be one helluva distant mom she had. Obviously there's overlap with sociopathy and probably genetic component but damn. I wonder if any early psychological intervention was even possible. Probably not.
Neither could I. I was a pretty sick child that had bad seizures and my parents would be so devastated whenever I would have one. It’s disgusting on what she did to Garnett.
There are too many twisted and unloving mothers out there. Mine is a covert narcissist who never wanted me, a third child and, worse, another daughter. She neglected, shamed, humiliated and tormented me throughout my life and I also believe that she poisoned me and my Dad several times.

But I have since gone back and listen to everything minute by minute I very much look forward to the new videos ❤️ even if they're heartbreaking
Any of the doctors who performed surgery on Garnet are even more liable imo. They cemented the idea that there was actually something wrong with him. RIP poor baby

Child “protective” services are the biggest sham in this country. They seem to target loving families while giving monsters like this a pass, over and over. As for the myriads of medical staff? Did they forget they are mandated reporters? Did they forget their duty to preserve life and health? This sweet boy was failed at every level
Afterthought - the worst part is all those in positions to put an end to this should face disciplinary action, especially the multiple who noted Munchausen by Proxy but did absolutely zero to protect these sweet child
You know that if you report someone and it comes back as unfounded, they can sue?! Hospitals aren't keen on paying out lawsuits. You better be 1000% sure if you report something or be prepared to be disciplined or let go. I don't agree with this, but I was involved in a lawsuit similar to this. So don't blame the medical staff, and if you do, then go try the job yourself and see what happens in reality. The person to blame is the mother.
I feel EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. Dhr in alabam took 2 of my 3 children for seemingly no good legitimate reason yet allow these horrible parents who abuse and neglect their children just keep them. WTF!!!
One tried taking mine after some issues with getting a birth certificate because the f-king notary was too lazy to do her job. They told me over and over that the child was fine and clearly was being loved, yet they demanded weird personal information from me, heavily implied that they didn't believe my baby wasn't mine and that I stole her (WHILE I WAS BREASTFEEDING HER RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM). That they "may or may not" take her away. They called the criminal police on me because they doubted my ID, the cops came and looked it over and pulled the main woman worker aside to say he didn't understand why he was called and that it looked fine... Thanks to those creatures, they robbed me of the first 3 months of enjoying my baby. Making me so stressed out that I would never see her again that she got so much baby acne from my breastmilk that she looked like a little lemon. They forced me to go to places and doctors and specialists so that I can "prove" that I was pregnant and gave birth- despite every doctor telling me they cannot do this- while I was still recovering from my birth, and we had no car. I had to walk several kilometers for this for weeks almost daily to get something that no medical professional could give me for them anyways. (And I didn't even HAVE to do it. But they dangled the fear of not seeing my baby again so that they can influence me to do so. Later on I got so tired of it that I refused to cooperate and said I won't be grilled and interviewed about private affaires they had no business knowing. They then made a big show of "calling their supervisor" and demanding random papers like my birth certificate, proof of insurance, proof of residence etc and so forth. In the end, I didn't give them any of it and they closed their "case" when the notary got around to giving me her birth certificate anyways...) At this point, I want them abolished. They never do their job. I gave those very same people several tips about my neighbor who repeatedly neglects, verbally and physically abuses her child, lets strange men in her apartment, has had a literal p**do inside there too, has had a person pass away after partying with alcohol while her baby was just one room over... I said all of this, they claimed they will investigate and yet nothing happened... But somehow my issues with a lazy notary gets first priority?? HOW??
@@juju4842 as a healthcare worker you are a mandatory reporter. You are trying to justify owing someone money over saving a childs life. What was her obsession with ear infections about? Also, how does a person induce an ear infection in a child? I ask because one of the parents of the children Lacy kept said that their child would return from a weekend at Lacy’s with an ear infection every time? My daughter was blessedly healthy, so this is not something I’m well versed in.
I also posted the same question! And researched. But can’t find the answer.. 😕 I have 2 kids, and oldest one also had the ear infections, non stop for first 3 years. Doctors even recommended to put the tubes. But when we placed him in the preschool, in one year he builded immunity and infections stopped. But I still can’t understand, how it is possible to get it specially? She instilled something in the ears, or what? Ps. Just found one of the reasons : Water can cause, and looks like she instilled dirt water in their ears! This is what I think..
So, I’m thinking it has to do with water. Taking baths, most likely. It is SO easy for kids to get ear infections with water and after reading the book, my best guess is she did it with water. At one time, a neighbor caught her losing her shit with Garnet in the bathtub. But on the other hand, this chick is nuts so who knows what she did.

Luckily she pulled through and after 5 days in the ICU we got to take her home. I don't even have any social media but my wife would never even think about posting pics of her in that condition
It is extremely inappropriate to post pictures like that without consent or if the person in question can't consent. Kids can't consent to social media presence. I also don't want to think of the repercussions the kid may have when they are an adult trying to find a job and the potential employer sees their parents medical posts...
This case perfectly exemplifies the indifference that occurs within the community-at-large from being consistently exposed to cases like this. From the school system to the medical professionals to the friends and other people in her life, nobody made enough noise to save this child. What a damn shame.
I love that in every video you upload each story is always well researched, you are so easy to listen to & you make every story so interesting. But I REALLY love that you say things that everyone is thinking but doesn’t dare say. Love it 😆❤️
I am a Nurse of over 22 years. I have seen this horribly with children, siblings, parent's. Any caregiver in charge of an "ill person." Meaning, it's not just a disease about children of ill parents . It can be any person in charge legally of someone whom is dependent, and it is the caregiver whom is actually psychologically ill harming the dependent of any age. And is next to impossible to prove!
I remember seeing this case on dateline, & it is absolutely horrific what this woman makes this poor innocent baby go through. He suffered horrifically for months, & his short lil life was full of nothing but hospitals, life-threatening seizures & extreme hunger…. All at the hands of his “loving mother” 😒 DISGUSTING! R.I.P. lil Garnet 👼🏼 P.S. I just wanna say thanks for always being so consistent with upload’s & respectful of victims & their families…I really appreciate your content❣️
It’s sick. I could never intentionally harm my children. I feel bad for Gypsy Rose who’s mother did something similar. What her mother did to her was horrid. I think she needed to go to a psychiatric hospital and not prison.
As a non American I wanna thank you for ur clear and calm way of telling these stories It’s very easy to understand This woman is the devil and let’s say it SHE was not suffering,SHE MADE THIS LITTLE CHILD SUFFER OVER AND OVER
I generally don't watch these types of videos. However, I do find the disorder of Manchesan by proxy to be bafflingly and honestly interesting. You have done a good job of reporting this case. Keep up the great work 👍!
I'm really alarmed at the number of medical procedures this baby had within a very short time of first seeing a doctor! I have two kids and both suffered from a lot of ear infections. My youngest had so many that when she was almost 5, her doctor and I started discussing tubes if she got many more. Luckily, when both kids turned 5 it was like a light turned off and there were no more-the doc said that was actually pretty normal. I especially am appalled that he was given two medical procedures to 'stop his vomiting' after seeing the doctor for the first time. There seems to be alot of docs doing procedures to get paid by insurance or medicaid! Usually children are followed closely for a few months and you sure don't call a child 'failure to thrive' based on a couple of visits. A lot of people dropped the ball with this poor baby by no following up on referrals and by rushed medical procedures. I'm shocked some of her MySpace friends weren't starting to smell a rat!
Unfortunately failure to thrive simply means his weight and growth are not on track. It's not actually a high-risk diagnosis to give. But usually the first steps are addressing nutrition not surgery. In this poor boys case he was probably underweight and under size because of his mother. (She likely either watered down his formula or starved him)
Doctors aren’t doing it to make extra money. They’re doing it because if they fail to treat in a timely manner it can open up a legal Pandora’s box for failure to treat in a timely manner and negligence. When they hospital hop, they’re aware privacy red tape can make obtaining information difficult. And Medicaid pays at discounted rates. Doctors don’t make that much off of those payments individually.
*THIS IS MONSTERS* I used to watch nothing but true crime on regular tv, but since I found our channel(s), i don’t watch ANY tv at all anymore - ever! I get everything I need, right here! Thanks for the great content. We love you here in Vegas!
Wow! I had no idea this monster had this history where she’s been doing this for years! All these poor kids she likely made Ill smh Poor Garnet. My heart ❤️ that poor baby boy. He literally suffered from the day he was born. Such an angel too. She never deserved him. Thank you for this in-depth video about her. I will be anxiously awaiting Part 2!
That poor poor boy. I just cant imagine the fear and suffering he went through. He had to of known that every time his mom took him into the bathroom at the hospital that he would be in for alot of pain and suffering right after. Just awful.
I usually watch every single video, but I had to stop this one at 19:16 because I can't stand how that child is looking at his mom with such love, and she is literally killing him. It's too much for me. My baby was 9 weeks prem and I hope to God we never have to go to a hospital again. I hope this is the only one of your videos I give a miss because this is by far my favourite UA-cam channel.
Take care of yourself and have a break. 💜 I recommend Gracie and Penny’s channel (if you like cats) for a pick me up to cleanse your palette and soothe your heart. Penny’s voice is courtesy of the wee child on the family and it is hilarious and wholesome. Hope it helps✨🦋✨💞
Lisa-Mari Wouda....I felt EXACTLY the same way about that particular picture. I just couldn't stand looking. His eyes were so adoring and trusting...broke my heart. Best of health and good wishes to your baby...❤
Same here, but Instead i just skipped to the end to find out the punishment this mental freak of a human received. Just listening to what she put this child through and the red flags being missed by everyone in the system that failed to follow through with documenting her history of abuse. She is definitely a monster.
I heard a brief bit about this story from another creator talking about the controversial mental illness itself. Lacey was talked about as one of the examples. Might have been where the idea for this video came from. I'm pretty psyched about watching this, as I was intrigued to hear a more detailed examination of this case. Great content as always!
4 of my brothers were killed like this by my mother who is a master manipulator. The youngest one passed in 1986. My mother had 23 husbands, many at the same time, and when one would get suspicious she'd pack us up in the middle of the night and run away. My father took my only surviving brother away from her and did everything to keep him safe. He's now 31 and although my dad never told my brother why he wasn't allowed to see her he realized it on his own years later.
as tragic as these stories are, your channel does a great job respecting the victim a great job shinning the spotlight on the " monster " anytime I've seen this case it makes me physically ill!
I was a GI PACU nurse and I cannot tell how you how hard it is to actually get a patient approved to have this surgery. The amount of endoscopies and documentation required…it’s usually a last ditch effort. To think that she could talk her way into it and that someone would actually do it without overwhelming evidence or documentation is beyond me. And that poor baby…
Update! in the US this disorder is now called "Factitious disorder imposed on another" and in the UK "Fabricated or induced illness"... not anything like as catchy as Munchausen syndrome by proxy
One of my best friends in high school dated Lacey’s brother (2009). I vividly remember my friend telling me all the updates on Garnetts health and how insane it was when we all found out what she was doing. It’s very chilling to see this on UA-cam now so many years later.
She is just so incredibly cruel. I can’t fathom how a mom could inflict this kind of pain on her own child since the day he was born! And that photo where he looks at the monster with the utmost unconditional love is so sickening because he absolutely trusted her 😭
“Yeah, you can have sex with my husband to conceive.” Ok WTF!? The system failed this little boy. Why were none of these doctors talking to each other?? This story (though not unheard of) is extremely tragic and frustrating. Thank you for all your hard work on this channel, we all appreciate it!
because the doctors didn't know she was seeing other doctors. there is no database where any Dr can look up her name and see her history. if they aren't explicitly told "hey I saw this dr last week" they have no clue
Poor little guy. You can tell he really loved her, look at the way he’s looking up at her in that one picture. I can’t imagine intentionally hurting my kids man. This is strange and messed up
I must say, we unwittingly enable Munchausen in countries like the United States where we do not have universal access to medical records like they do in other countries. All of these crazy medical claims would have easily been discredited, thereby sounding the alarm on this behavior with more readily substantial grounds for prosecution. This would have saved this poor child as well as all the other children she's harmed along the way I'm certain. Not to mention that NO universal access to medical records is also one of the leading contributiors to the high cost of healthcare due to repetitive and wholly unnecessary re-testing, procedures, medical visits, etc. What a mess smh
In Australia you get issued with a Medicare number at birth. That number can never be changed. As well as every Government dept, chemists Doctors, are all linked to that Medicare number. So no matter where you go or how far it will all automatically show up. This has only been a recent thing over last few years. But even if it's not linked any Doctor suspecting anything can get a parent to sign a consent to share information and ring Medicare to trace where a child has been seen.
This is one of the worst cases of MBP that I’ve heard of. The fact he wasn’t even loved by his mother is the worst part of this. Sometimes MBP parents will shower their kid with love and dote on them while secretly causing the pain. But she sounds like she was abusing him too. Absolutely disgusting
Hearing how they failed to protect this baby because they were afraid of getting sued is infuriating. It's not like it's coming out of your pocket. It's surely worth the risk. Poor baby. So many people let you down.
I love True Crime so much that I’ll listen to other peoples perspective and channels just to end up back at This is Monsters whom I love…maybe you can consider covering the Sylvia Likens case? I’d love your take!
I have a family member who had this and the victim was my mother. Thankfully she didn’t lose her life, but she was often in the ER and half of her one lung is non-functioning, she was always peeing blood, her bones didn’t form right from malnutrition, etc.
I absolutely LOVE this channel’s intro. It is iconic. Legendary. Right on par with the essence of the channel and its content. Just the hearing of these few piano notes and I’m all in. 😍
I don't know why, but comments keep getting disabled for this video and I'm not doing it.
That sucks. UA-cam keeps getting worse and worse.
Yeah videos pertaining to children have been getting comments disabled lately.
It’s Biden’s fault
Weird.
The other inmates threaten her all the time, call her baby killer, she's been beaten up at least once, and the kitchen staff has been known to heavily salt her food. I love it
Good
I was at mci framingham when mary jean armstrong was brought in. We broke multiples bones, including her jaw.
Not sure if salt packets are allowed in prison but I can imagine them being hurled at Lacy frequently as a nice reminder
Good. Karma's a bitch to those who harm others.
How do you know this?
A surgery to prevent vomiting seems really really dangerous, even if you don't have a mother who is poisoning you.
I have heard this case covered by others and thet point out that detail. Even despite the mom, what that doctor did was extremely inappropriate. There should have been a lot more testing and other treatments before major surgery.
I also heard this is a factor in his death, because he was unable to vomit
id have died of alcohol poisoning long ago
I was confused how she convinced someone to do it. My son has a feeding tube so I'm in facebook groups for kids who are tube fed and some of them actualky needed the oricedure. But it took years of testing and trying different methods, different foods, and medications, switching what type of feeding tube they had, how much and how often they eat, etc before the doctor decided to do that procedure as a last resort. To hear someone who didn't need it got it done just because a parent lied about his health is crazy
This is borderline medical malpractice. In my opinion, as long as you pay them enough money, doctors in The U.S. will do basically anything. 😒
@@shirleymarie2288Sounds like they want to take a lot of other steps before performing an invasive surgery. And that certainly would take up a lot of time.
It makes this a little scarier (to me) that a doctor was willing to just go ahead and perform the surgery.
The ironic thing is those with Munchausens by Proxy do NOT suffer from it, their helpless victims do.
That's what infuriates me. They're too cowardly to do it to themselves, so they torture children instead. These wretched people don't deserve to breathe our oxygen. I say get them out of the gene pool and don't bother wasting tax dollars on keeping them fed and housed in prison for the next 40-70 years.
"suffer" only in the purely diagnostic sense
@NE POWERS No she did not. Thats a vicious lie that has been debunked many times over.
Exactly.
@NE POWERS Shannan Watts had a monster as husband
Sincere condolences for your loss. I hope that you're able to find some peace in the memories of your son. God bless 🙏
Wow that’s sad
That's terrible I hate that happened to him and to you. I completely agree with 3 children of my own how could someone do this to their child. It's obvious after seeing all the pieces that she was extremely mentally ill and had no business ever being around a child hers or anyone else's
I am so sorry ❤️

Im a nurse and when I was working on Peds one of my patients, his Mom was doing this. He was in and out of the hospital all the time, and ended up having a trach at age 12 months. She acted like the staff were her best friends and having him hospitalized was her social activity. The mother ended up committing suicide when he was 2. He was never hospitalized again after her death.
That is so sad. But hopefully the child is better off now.
A white woman per usual I’m sure
Possibly the best thing to save him!!!
Wow, how the mind works at times. U should have more likes & appreciate ya sharing. 🤟🇺🇸Iowa
He'll have hidden trauma in his mind and body. I hope he's getting therapy
My heart dropped when you said she’d finally gotten pregnant. I just knew that the baby was in for a level of torment that no one should ever experience.
Having a baby so you can immediately torture it, knowing that it can't tell anyone and has no other adult to protect it....that is EVIL
sadly enough our wicked and heartless society doesn't see anything wrong with abuse until theres a death! children or teens can be just as cruel and self centered, and get away with it, there was a young teen she had no heart no compassion, her mother told her that her boyfriend was a thief and no longer welcome, so daughter says to bf kill her so as the bf was stabbing her mother to death she took a 9in butchers knife to her 5 yearold sister, heres where the catch to the story is her daddy like biden had political standing and power, and as biden did with making the prosecutor and judge who was trying to put his boy away for life disappear her daddy did the same thing diplomat immunity from any type of prosecution, the bitch never seen the inside of a court room and was just held long enough for daddy to get her off and yes she had just turned 18 a month earlier, as for the bf a 15 to life sentence, in prison reality a death sentence a week after he entered prison other inmates heard of his heartless crime, and by the next Friday he was standing before the judgement throne of Christ! the future of country is one of concentration camps, i see my great grandchildren facing gas chambers live cremation's if biden get his way!
Same. It's just awful and worse part is it's not like he could walk away or leave or anything.
Born from the womb of death.
Wow, shame on those nurses! Sorry you had to experience that torment!
@@dalhousieDream Why? Better safe than sorry.
@@natalyasturn like what? What innocent thing would a doctor mistake for abuse?

You know it’s bad when a church asks you to leave.
You know it’s bad when no one believes you when you say you were molested. That could explain all the early behaviour here, which, without help, escalated and ends up in this tragedy and her later lies.
Eeeehhhhhhh

Even worse that churches are a common place for abuse especially molestation to occur

As a therapist , I treated a woman for M by P.
Her 4 year old child had been put through 22 major surgeries.
damn. poor kid
Is it curable though. Or it's just kinda mediating and asking Please don't kill your kid, mam?
@@PinkiePow probably not. We saw her while she was awaiting trial. She got a lot of years and her babies got better parents.
18:34 The photo of her smiling at the camera, and him smiling while looking at his mom broke my heart
That baby boy didn't stand a chance.
Really though, look at the love he has in his eyes for her. 🥺
Me too. All he felt was love towards his mom. True monster.
Yes. This photo affected me emotionally too…🥺
I thought the exact same thing!
@@mallorycannon3011 right, exactly. Because having a mental illness doesn't automatically make you not have a conscience.
Terrifying.
EXACTLY. Most parents would never want any harm to their precious gifts.
Happens all the time. Especially here in the US. Search the sudden increase in Trans-parents. It's shocking.
@@mikecinema7443 agree. That and circumcision
And that doctors would do this with no reason.
It's so sad because in that one picture that baby was looking at her so lovingly. Its sick.
This case is why I give ppl the side eye when they constantly post about their children’s illness. Ppl love to use their sick children for exposure. They feed off social media and sympathy.
Social media is a cancer on humanity.
Absolutely! It’s such a sickness of our society.
💯 one of my FB friends seems to be doing this right now. I'm seeing so many red flags and have a really bad feeling about her child. Something is wrong like every week and he's always going to a doctor appointment.
@NE POWERS I'm going to say her husband had worse "shit."
@NE POWERS no she didn't. Her daughter had an allergy. Nice of you to be blaming a victim.
I worked with three cases of MSB during my career and these cases are so complicated and hard to prove. I cannot express the frustration of having to watch a child die slowly but not being able to protect the child. It took a toll on me.
I can’t imagine how awful you must’ve felt; and helpless to do anything! Blessings to you.
@Cee Dub619cameraman the name just describing this form of abuse
It's only "complicated" if the investigation of clues is by a government agency. This poor child didn't get any help (too late) until actual doctors were allowed to investigate the medical facts. The bureacracy is incompetent and unresponsive.
@Cee Dub619cameraman it strikes me really strange that you see the label as an “excuse”. It’s not an “excuse, it’s a description of a pathological behavior leading to abuse.
@Cee Dub619cameraman Lemme guess, you think everyone with a personality disorder is just a "freak"?
Have a few labels I could throw your way...

I have to agree with you 100%. I'm going to say what I believe to be true...many medical services and procedures are about making money. Surely, any honest professional would have seen this. It's heart breaking to think that money motivated them. This boy child suffered so needlessly.

I am so glad you actually defined both Munchausen and the “by proxy” version and the differences. I’ve been into true crime about 4 years…this is the first time anyone has ever broke it down. Thank you for that.
it’s unnecessary.. if you know what munchausen is, then knowing language, munchausen by proxy is self explanatory
@@Zzz2x LMFAO sooooooo many people know what munchausen is in regards to psychology psychiatry and medicine in general. And everyone that watches his videos are listening to a podcast I mean every single person they completely understand and know how to use in its entirety and correctly the English language as so that they would know the definition of proxy and how it was being applied

Now I just taught you some things also 👩🏾🏫 just to be fair.
I've honestly watched things on crime since I was 7 yrs old, it was just cop shows on TV then and then I found all kinds of books way before Forensic files was on TV and I've seen pretty much everything you can on crime. She got cancer a few yrs ago and I honestly didn't believe her till someone said she'd died. I tried to avoid her as much as possible. My son was 35 when she died so I had no reason to be around her, I'd dumped his dad when my son was 7 weeks old.
@@Zzz2x Not everyone is as smart as you are 🙄 lol. But seriously, your comment was unnecessary. “Factitious disorder” is the most current term for Munchausen…if you must know, Ms Know-It-All 😏
The way her son looks at her admirably on this selfie you keep showing - it's so heartbreaking how he adores and trusts his mom.
That's not something she has to afford so it's not wild it's called Medicaid
That sweet little boy endured such pain and suffering for no reason
That mother who continued to let lacy see her son when she pretended it was her son... I don't understand that! I would immediately stop giving my child to her
It's crazy that the mother continued to let Lacey have the boy after she learned that.
Some people are dense as a rock that’s why
My cousin used to pretend my niece or her niece were hers in highschool; I called her out for it and never spoke to her again. Definitely something that shouldn't be overlooked.
Yes! My comment too! Especially with the suspicious recurring ear infections only after being babysat by Lacey. 😳
Single White Female vibes, but with a baby 😬
That is one cute baby Lacey had. How she used him , abused him when most of us do everything to keep them well. Heartbreaking.

@dino,yes I agree!
I was eating something in my car before going back to work and when the picture showed up, i couldn't keep myself from crying.
I just am at that part. He like looks like he’s saying please help me 😞
My heart hurt when I saw how he looked at her
I'm pretty sure that there are many documented cases of factitious disorder imposed on another in Australia it is defiantly not "an American thing".
I find this story even more chilling than serial killer story. It a slow evil abusing patern disguise into a caring mother. What an evil sick woman.
My thoughts exactly.
I really feel for Chris. Some chick uses you to get pregnant then pushes you away and tortures your kid to death.
There is something especially evil about a mother harming her own child for years for attention. I understand. I hope she loves the rest of her life miserable.
Killing multiple people simply because that person is a sick fxxk isn't as bad? Wow
She had the mind of a serial killer
Oh my gosh me too. There's almost nothing worse than sick kids. I swear when I know my kids are getting sick, I get sick too. I dread it

She said she wanted to harm the child, and the investigation just fizzled out???
In the end, I didn't give them any of it and they closed their "case" when the notary got around to giving me her birth certificate anyways...)
At this point, I want them abolished. HOW??

A fuckin sick monster
Lemme tell you, it’s really tiring to having to go to the doctor a lot, so I can imagine how worn out her kids were.
Ear infections are very painful, especially for children. 😥
How did she cause the ear infections??
I also posted the same question! And researched. But can’t find the answer.. 😕 I have 2 kids, and oldest one also had the ear infections, non stop for first 3 years. Doctors even recommended to put the tubes. But when we placed him in the preschool, in one year he builded immunity and infections stopped. But I still can’t understand, how it is possible to get it specially? She instilled something in the ears, or what?
Ps. Just found one of the reasons : Water can cause, and looks like she instilled dirt water in their ears! This is what I think..
I wonder how she did that as well.
Jesus Christ, every single time you narrated what Garnet was going thru, i squirmed and my insides became sick. What a freaking monster! As a mother, i ended up crying with this case. You have to be a beast to do this to your own flesh and blood. JFC....

My daughter came down with scalded staff syndrome when she was like 18 months old. She looked like she was fighting to stay alive. It was one of the worst times of my life.
Is that why those two dozen passengers who witnessed a rape on a train never did a single thing to stop the rapist and get him off his victim?

How, in a country where health care is so monstrously expensive, did this woman afford all those hospital visits?
Debt upon debt upon debt...
Cameras don't lie. THAT'S about the only way to catch them. 👍

I heard a brief bit about this story from another creator talking about the controversial mental illness itself. Lacey was talked about as one of the examples. If u don’t mind me asking....is he ok?? Is he... alive? How did they even afford that kind of medical abuse? Why???
4 of my brothers were killed like this by my mother who is a master manipulator. The youngest one passed in 1986. My mother had 23 husbands, many at the same time, and when one would get suspicious she'd pack us up in the middle of the night and run away. My father took my only surviving brother away from her and did everything to keep him safe. He's now 31 and although my dad never told my brother why he wasn't allowed to see her he realized it on his own years later.

I totally agree... it's so sad...I will never understand it 🤦♀️
I must say, we unwittingly enable Munchausen in countries like the United States where we do not have universal access to medical records like they do in other countries.
Yet another failure of the American health care system.
I agree, 100%
the way he looks at his "mom". omg.... so sad. he loved her and trusted her so much.
It's on my list.
I love this channel, The Disturbing Truth and True Crime Recaps!!

I have a family member who had this and the victim was my mother. Thankfully she didn’t lose her life, but she was often in the ER and half of her one lung is non-functioning, she was always peeing blood, her bones didn’t form right from malnutrition, etc.
Holy hell. I clicked on this because I recognized the hospital in the thumbnail. Didn't think it would be about someone I went to middle school with.
Damn scary
She is so pleased with herself in many of the photos.
I absolutely LOVE this channel’s intro. It is iconic. Legendary. Right on par with the essence of the channel and its content. Just the hearing of these few piano notes and I’m all in. 😍
I hope this show never ends because I look forward to every video!! 💯
Fr this show is too good
