SP gave up on the Class Lights and Train Boards in 1967, except they kept the Train Boards in the SF Commute line for easy identification of the Commutes. By the 1980's the Class Lights would have been out of service. Keep up the good work. Looks beautifully filthy!
I got a NS SD 40-2 and I looked up to see if it was the same type of engine in real life and it was and a year later I was going threw some old photos that I took when I went to horse U curve and I had a picture of the engine that I had in HO.
It's an SP Kodachrome GP35 from the near merger with SF/SP. That unit is most likely custom painted but their are a few companies like Athearn who made kodachrome SD45T-2's.
i plan to convert my SD-9 to dual mode status.I am a train buff for along time, and love commuter trains like the old penn-central,and the now,metro-north.!
I have been watching yall, for a year and a half. This was a great video. Thank you

And it really looked funny in person. Used to see one or more lettered like this at City of Industry.

The lettering is 100% correct for the era Dan is modeling.

Wow, the SD is beautiful!
The headlight thing is called Rule 17. Lionel Legacy locos and MTH PS3.0 have this feature, and they do it automatically.
Awesome Work!
It's correct, SP also did this with a GP38-2 Snowfighter.
