for anyone who is somewhat confused on the difference between velocity(vector) and speed(scalar) ; here is what helped me understand it:
if you are in your car and you start driving forward at 60 mph, that's your speed. and if you stop then quickly reverse to thirty miles per hour you are going backwards, but you don't have a Negative speed, just a speed, no matter what direction it is in.
however if you do the same thing and plot it in a Position Vs. Time graph you will see it going in a negative direction, indicating it is returning to the direction of the origin.
long story short vector quantities such as velocity help people understand the rate at which something moves, but also its direction and meaning.

@@a_j_all_day7382 Velocity requires direction (some people word this as "velocity depends on position" meaning the object's point of origin -- imagine a graph and start at zero); speed doesn't. As a result, velocity can be a positive or negative number. Going backwards? Negative velocity. Going forward? Positive velocity. Positive or negative, it doesn't matter because you're still in motion. Speed, on the other hand, is strictly positive. Once your speed is at zero, you're no longer in motion.

Great explanations thank you. I have a great teacher, but due to time restrains he can't teach everything step-by-step, and having Mr. Anderson (sorry if I spelled it wrong), explain why something is the way it is really helps me understand the more complicated problems.

When objects fall it's not because of gravity. It's due to density. If something is heavier then the air it falls down. If its lighter then the air it'll float. As we've all been taught. Buoyancy, density & water surface tension are very interesting. Anyone who isn't familiar should try to check it out sometime.

Next convert with 1Hour=3600seconds. then simplify the fraction 96560meters/3600seconds and you get 26.9M/s
