Bill's knowledge and appreciation of popular music or film is pretty superficial, not much different from a random person on the street. Thus, he has some pretty random opinions. I think he once opined that Bill Joel had more "good" songs than the Beatles. Much like your younger sister, he is not a good source for musical insight.
Bill Maher told Jerry Seinfeld that "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Hey Jude," "Penny Lane" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand" were never on any Beatles albums until the songs were released on compilations. Bill Maher's ignorance is matched only by his arrogance.
Actually, "Revolution" is quite musically pedestrian--just a blues rip-off. "Come Together" is also quite pedestrian. The music of The Beatles benefited enormously from the addition of numerous session musicians, George Martin's arrangements and production, and, quite crucially, the great sounds that engineer Geoff Emerick figured out for them (e.g., he got a huge bass sound for Paul by rewiring a speaker to turn it into a microphone). John Lennon's nonsense lyrics are a great deal more interesting and entertaining than his overly earnest efforts. John Fogerty is very lucky that he has Bill Maher here to tell him exactly where it's at. Perhaps Fogerty will try to write some songs and attempt to make his mark in music. Meanwhile, Bill has it all figured out--case closed!

It was one of the biggest hits of 1967 and it is also very simplistic.
@@RocStarr913 NOT musically simplistic. Lyrically yes.
The words to Hello Goodbye are perfect for that KIND OF SONG. Try to write better words that FIT THE SONG. I'll wait.
Heck yeah
Ah, I think McCartney knew more about lyrical intent Bill.
CCR & the Beatles made history. Bill not at all!
Songs are songs not books or messages. It’s entertainment and emotions. Bill certainly knows what BS words are all about.
This is what UA-cam is for
Fogerty like, Wtf this dude talkin bout
Bill doesnt know anything about music. By the way, search for the drum cover by David montis of hello goodbye, take 1. Amazing drumming in that song.
Bill, close your mouth a little bit
I think Bill plays the skin flute
o bla di o bla da life goes on... bruh!
I have been a regular listener/watcher of Maher back to the beginnings of 'Real Time' and a fan of his comedy for years. I used to watch Club Random because it seemed like Maher "unplugged". But at some point a year or so ago it became obvious this was just stoned Bill talking over every guest, who are now right-wing jerks he's kissing up to.....why? He still claims to be Libertarian....a party that doesn't exist....and painting himself as SMARTER than everybody. The last Random show I watched was with Sammy Hagar. A very cool and experienced STAR from San Bernardino County where I now live. Whatever. The every-man comedian is now a multi-millionaire....etc. etc. An arrogant baby.
"Hello goodbye " is a Mc Cartney song, "Revolution" by Lennon is actually counter revolutionary.
There is no bad with the Beatles
They didn't write their own songs. Hate to break it to you.
😂😂😂😂
Maher is way beyond insufferable.
Bill Maher has no business pontificating on any of this -- least of all to John Fogerty.
Poor John Fogerty.
Hello Bill
Goodbye.....
What the heck is he blabbering about? Why invite interesting people on so you can ramble on to them & waste their time?
Bill, you are not a music critic except that you criticize music. It seems you have never been turned down by a woman, or found differences between a man and a woman. Goodbye / Hello. "I don't know why you say goodbye, I say hello".
