It's super good to see you again! In the past I've been drawn to the low tones but I have found a renewed spirit lifting joy in the higher pitched flutes, like high B. The sound feedback is better while out in the woods. That's not to say that I don't absolutely love my F# Blue Bear, side-by-side drone. As always, thank you for sharing your time and thoughts.
I can't thank you enough for making this video. You have explained so much to me that not only have I learned everything I needed to to possibly choose the right flute for my self, but also you have helped me to not compulsory buy one just because I heard a beautiful sound. When I become ready to buy a flute, I will definitely buy from you. Thank you thankthank you thank you!
I has three thoughts. You make the BEST videos! All of them. As soon as I start watching any of them I’m hooked. Next a smiled when you were talking about loads of holes and plugs. I thought shoot they make them already. They’re silver and play sideways 😂😂 Last, I heard the other day that instruments tuned 1/5 apart sound medieval, I think yours sounds ‘older’. Thanks for the videos soo informative.
Might be of interest to someone (?)...but.......I just discovered that in parts of India there are "a frame" traditional flutes. I think in the Rajasthan area. called Alghoza. Sorry, I'd have to go back and look at my research. But I always find it super interesting how often the "same" instruments in traditional venues are found all over , just with different names...anyway, a bit of trivia for ya'all.
It is definitely interesting. Likewise the ones in Greece lead way to the ones that people make in modern day Americas and call Native American! So many similarities. Thanks for the message!
Yessss!! Haven't been this early to catch one of your uploads ever, have been watching your videos scrupulously as I have been working with bamboo making various things like lamps, bottle holders, wind chimes, lantakas, didgeridoos as I live in Australia too and even my own 5m x 8m bamboo gazebo to do my work in. I stumbled across one of your videos a few months ago and fell in love with the beautiful sound and have decided to start making some, I would love to be able to have a chat with you mate and possibly get some pointers and even some feedback on the ones I've completed so far, I would love to purchase a copy of your book too if you are still able to ship to Australia? Look forward to hopefully receiving a reply mate and thank you for devoting the time you have to be able to share these videos with us.
How do you tone your flute. My great grandpa used to carve the beautiful instruments as well. However my tribe has forgotten this, I love working with wood I find it so relaxing and calming
These are amazing. Thanks for posting. Are there any drone flutes that can move the drone note in intervals like a 5th or 6th rather than more linear counterpoint movement? I hope that makes sense.
Very informative. I didn’t realize how many possibilities were available.
I hope you are doing well my friend. The possibilities are endless!
Wow That's the first time I have ever heard a Drone Flute. The Tone is MAGIC. Thanks for taking the time to share you knowledge.
The big mouth comment was so cleverly placed 😊😂

Very helpful as I'm searching for the right one for me! Thank you and blessings to you and your family. 😊
Thank you! The Low E is one of my 2 favorite flute keys! I recommend western cedar! 😀

I love your brilliantly executed new design!!! It adds such depth to the "drone"!
From one long haired fella to another...nice seeing your free flag fly. 👍👍
I have another daughter and may want a high drone for her for Christmas. Eyeballing the backpacker.

So sweet how your wife gets first dibs on the most beautiful cuts of wood 😊
She deserves it! 🙂
Really cool

Beautiful playing and fine craft work sir : Does it take a lot of wind power to play a drone flute ?
