So glad to hear Dr. Mohler point out that being a pastor/preacher is not a profession, it is calling, this is not a job, it is an office. Profound, and every pastor needs to remember that. Thank you Dr. Mohler.

Amen, amen, amen! I love this so much!!!!! 💯 Too many churches today seemingly have a misplaced perception of “power” in that they somehow exist to entertain & think that being funny, & entertaining.. relatable, and preaching to people’s specific situations in their lives is what’s going to bring souls to Jesus. What about all the other ones in the room that aren’t getting fed bc you’re trying to play God & preach to a specific situation/family instead of just preaching the full Word & letting God do the heart work. I’m so glad Calvin & Mohler get it. Such a breath of fresh air There is power in the Word of God & Godly Preachers. Church is for the saints, not to be a place to tickle ears & provide entertainment to the people. A preacher who understands that it is God alone who calls people & it is by the Word of God that this is done, will not be up there preaching to circumstances but rather, preaching the Word of God. Let the counselors counsel but when you hit that pulpit pastors.. please, just preach the Word! If you go through ALL the Word & nothing that is not there - the people will be fed. The people will grow in their walks, in sanctification, & in holiness. Too many men these days put more trust in themselves.. thinking if they can just use the right technique, or use the right situational story, or have the right “evidence” shown.. that people will be saved by them & their clever man made ways. It’s truly sad. There is no greater sorrow than to see someone intellectually acknowledge the truth without it ever reaching their hearts, to see churches more concerned with “numbers” than members, to be more concerned with entertaining the goats than feeding the sheep. To be slacking in equipping the saints each Sunday bc you’re too concerned about “increasing your numbers.” Train your members, equip the saints with the full Word of God. Just preach the Word of God. And trust Him to take care of the rest. You are not God, you are an instrument but every person in your church is a missionary.. should be. Ask yourself each Sunday if you are truly feeding them meat, or milk so that you can not offend those outside of the flock, and make sure your numbers are high? I would encourage people not to find the closest church.. but find the closest church that actually preaches the FULL Word of God. The church that doesn’t leave out verses but preaches them all. That trusts God to take care of His Church. No wonder church numbers are down these days.

John Calvin is a legacy to his own. If you have not read the Institutes Of Christian Religion, then read them.

My distress after hearing this sermon, is this. I thought l was being taught the word of God, then l became aware of expository preaching, them realized that wasnt what we as a church were getting, a few verses preached out of a chapter in the bible then we moved on the next week to another chapter...l called it skim preaching. Now l see that Gods Teaching is being with held or stolen from me. How can a preacher not teach expository preaching and say that he does, l feel cheated of teaching at my church, but l have no where else to go.
Having the internet has been wonderful, hearing sermons like this.
But how can a minister claim to do something when it is blatantly obvious to those who want deeper sermons of truth and conviction.

The amount of torture and murder at the hands of John Calvin is enough for me to reject him completely. I have no doubt he is burning in the pits of hell for his crimes against humanity.

Did Jonah experience the "wrath" of God OR as a son, a chastisement from the Father?@45min Thank you for the clarity on the topic(s). 11 yrs later (2020) it seems the majority of pulpits/preachers and teachers are even more not "models of true piety....but preachers of other gospels."

It's hard to enjoy listening to this since Mohler has given himself to heresy. I don't think this should be removed since nothing said was wrong. I just pray that Mohler will one day rewatch these messages and repent before it is too late.

Please please please WHY exalt any man's name? GOD receives ALL the GLORY and HE WILL NOT share HIS GLORY with another.
No other name under heaven should be exalted

It is wrong to exalt this man.
    Calvin wasn't that great.

I agree that Calvin was a teacher, but based on the Biblical definition, you'd have to add the word "false" to that. Calvin was a heretic.
