You can be a king to a country, but you will still be a kid (child) to your father. I am always Balachander sir’s student.
Welcome to honorable guests, fans, and well wishers. This Cassette release event is the cassette for my movie. Last time, I attended cassette release event was for - Thalapathi movie. Thalapathy audio cassettes sold 5 lakh in number. Balachander sir mentioned that we are celebrating this event for the Annamalai movie because, it is the first time that music director Deva is working with kavithalaya productions.
In this event, There are 3 important people - First, it is Balachander sir, Second, it is Deva sir, and then Third - it is Vairamuthu sir.
I gave dates in january, for this movie. But then the shooting started in april. After getting dates, the producers wanted to do good business, earn money, by making a movie. They wanted to think about the story and all later. Balanchander sir is like - only if i get a nice story, I will make a movie, i don’t worry about profits/losses. After that, he heard 3 stories, and liked one among them. He asked me to listen to the story he liked. But, unfortunately I was not very impressed with the story and I was not very comfortable letting balanchander sir know that I did not like the story. I called him and I mentioned my hesitation. Balanchdar sir smiled, and told me - Don’t worry, we will explore more stories. I don’t know how to thank him for the gesture.
Later, when the movie started, the first Director called and informed that due to personal reasons, he won’t be able to work for the movie. Immediately, Balachander sir brought in Suresh Krishna (also his student) to direct the movie. Title ‘Annamalai’, music ‘Deva’ and then the movie started. Deva has sat for 20-25 days, and made around 100-120 tunes for the movie. We selected 6 songs. I can tell you that - Deva will be a very big and famous music director. We should not compare anybody to anybody. Comparison is wrong. Comparison with others only leads to Competition, and jealousy. Sometimes, people feel bad if someone else is getting success. These kinds of thoughts slow down a person and destroy a man. Deva is Deva. He made very nice music. Similarly, Vairamuthu has done very well for this movie. He is like - what to write, how to write to impress the audience. I told - audience 's decision is like God's decision. We are like their servants. Only if we give them what they like, will they watch the movie. Otherwise, they won’t...especially the tamil audience...wait for some time and you will get ideas about what to do to impress the audience. He wrote beautiful lines for this movie, and I don’t know how to thank him.
Suresh krishna (director of this movie) has 3 great talents, from 3 people combined - Balachander sir’s culture, education, dignity, respect, and civilization. Second - SP Muthuraman’s creativity. And Third - Maniratnam’s different way of showcasing the same event, differently in his movies. You will only see - Suresh krishna will be a great film director. I am praying to god that he does become a great film director. As Balachander sir mentioned, this movie will definitely celebrate the Silver Jubilee. I pray to god that the movie becomes a super hit.

Absolutely Fantastic !!! The name Kanth ( magnet) is never been more apt for anybody else. Rajini ( Moon) + Kanth ( Magnet). Oh my...... KB you are a visionary. Rajini's hair is a poetry. He has such an aura around him. Both on and off screen he commands a certain presence. I have heard in those days that when he is on the set all eyes in the unit are on him whether he is acting or sitting down taking a break. Even now when he comes out with his white hair and beard without color he has a sharp piercing image. I think he just need to leave his hair white when he not acting in a movie.
Oh, and the director he is talking about who walked away from the project is Visu.
Its not visu.. Its Vasanth who did Rhythm and satham podadhey. Suresh krishna spoke about this in an interview.
