DJ Trace & MC Ryme Tyme | 1994 Jungle Classics | Kool FM 94.5
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. DJ Trace was an established producer on the Lucky Spin Recordings Label. He started off on Don FM before making a switch to the prestigious Kool FM. He had bags of dub plates and was always playing fresh sounds. Trace and Ryme- Tyme were renowned partnership on Kool FM and the Jungle Scene, at raves like Kool Skool and Jungle Fever.
The DJ and MC duo would rock the airwaves for many years on the 94.5 FM dial. One of Trace's most celebrated tracks is "Sonar" on Prototype Records, released in 1998.
In 1999, Trace founded the DSCI4 record label, which is currently still releasing tracks. One of those releases was entitled " Dibby". Also teaming up with Optical on Virus Records to produce some absolute classics: Trace & Optical - Mercury Switch / Kridian (2000). Trace's most recent productions were released on CNVX label on an EP, in March 2019: DJ Trace - Opaque EP - Featuring tracks like: Opaque / Kyoto / Substance / Nest. It's interesting when you look at the career of a DJ like Trace who's had a long consistent journey from the Hardcore days, through Jungle era up till now in the Drum & Bass scene. Maximum props to a true heavyweight. Let's not forget this his contribution to pirate radio.
Lastly, if any of the old skool crew are interested in hearing DJ Trace and MC Ryme Tyme perform they are still active on the DNB circuit playing sets @DSCI4 rave night which hosted in a number of European cities, notably London (The Victoria Dalston) and Berlin (@clubGRETCHEN).

Take Me Back: Pirate Radio Archives too bad this genre wasn’t as big. I’m not in England so I don’t know how popular it is there, but in the USA, this kind of music is “boring” and “repetitive.” People in the USA really never understand in a mass setting what true music was. Just wanted an anthem to play. I wonder what music is like in London, because there isn’t any in Texas lmao.
@@sumoslap1973 Massive shout out to the Texan crew. I worked in music distribution and our biggest export of Jungle/DNB outside the UK was the USA and Canada. You guys appreciate it but you're scattered across your country, and not centralised in one state. I know New York was close to London because of the their links to the Caribbean and in particular Jamaica.
Man paving their paths. Top FUCKIN draw.👌 feel old listening but this shit will never die
Trace was well rough........better at the lazerdrome- boom 💥
Mad listings about the labels and stuff. Culturepresrvation done right.
You know this!! You understood the project and our direction! #culturepresevation
Such a good time this, '94 was raw for the jungle vibes, kool FM smashed it consistently!! PAGER MASSIVE!!! RESPECT!!!
Big up the Motorola pager crew!!

86 Ceres road, plumstead.. ... avin it each n every...... never 4gotten but never repeated.... Kool with a K. 94 .5 Madness for 2/3 solid years...... how did we get away with it? Can’t describe it to my 20odd yo nephew, the freedom and stupidity is the stuff of his dreams! Man I remember this as just a blur for 5/6 years, but 94.5

These 2 were so underrated!
DJ Trace was massively respected on the production front but as a DJ he didn't get the respect he deserved. You're right. We are also big fans of MC Ryme Tyme. This era is magical!!!
Take Me Back: Pirate Radio Archives ya agree. He was playing tunes that others didn’t play, but just didn’t get the amount of booking he deserved.
Take Me Back: Pirate Radio Archives super Sunday Kool Fm legends
@Dimensions He was crisp on the mic!! I agree! He was advanced for that time!!
@Dimensions I loved that nightclub it was awesome. I went to few nights there I remember seeing Hype scratching away and dropping plate after plate. Also Andy, Zinc, Brockie and Det. That venue was nice. Hip Hop in there but there was more people queuing to the toilet than in the Hip Hop room lol. I always loved UK Hip Hop and used to go to a few nights back in the 90s.
Yes DJ Trace & MC Ryme Tyme this is exactly how i love my drum and bass........
Quality music!! Big up!!

This is such amazing quality recording - doesn't sound like radio. Unless it is a recent set with old tunes, which it doesn't sound like, I can only presume you recorded it on site somehow back in the day? Many thanks for sharing!
