Dam Removal on the Calapooia River

- Filmed as part of Freshwater Illustrated's forthcoming film, Willamette Futures, this short film highlights the removal of small - but critical - dams on the Calapooia River, allowing Chinook Salmon, Steelhead, and other migratory aquatic species to move freely throughout the watershed.
The Brownsville Dam was removed as well. Naysayers claimed that the decades old deposit of silt behind the dam would ruin the river for years to come. Only a few months later the silt was not an issue because the river had taken care of itself naturally.

How has this affected the canoe-ability of this stretch of river between Brownsville and Hwy 34? I know historically guide books have advised that the river was impassible between these points due to brush and logjams. Are any parts of this stretch currently navigable?
Fish Passage. A good thing...
I won't believe they are serious about the salmon run until they at the very least add fish ladders to Dexter and Lookout Point reservoirs. the Willamette is nothing but a dead end for fish.

You call it a habitat I call it a place people will make messes for someone else to clean .Water rights belong to all people .
Just because some people like the look and feelings of rushing waters and see nothing but non-manmade sights the entire river course for their own playground, does not mean it is not humanly possible for us to manipulate this resource to serve our people while not obstructing the life requirements of other forms of life in this environment. Our abilities today as a form of life on this planet is such that we can create the mechanisms to facilitate such an environment that adequately serves these two purposes. We did not have these talents when we built the current structures over a century ago. If it serves a benefit for the community to harness this resource, that water should not be flushed down to the ocean's salty conclusion for a portion of the people who want their 'nature only' playground. While it could be argued the costs of such infrastructure is prohibitive, that usually is because these same people wouldn't want a dollar of public funds to go to such investments that ruin their vision, discounting any idea of it being capable of repaying itself in service.
The silly music only adds noise pollution to this otherwise fine video.

So its been 8 yrs, wheres the video showing 10's of 1000's of fish from all the newly accessible fish habitat?
i dont care just so i can fish and drop my canoe in the river.
