Let me know what you think of my editing style with the character cut outs. I wanted to tell this story for a while now and I felt like this was a good way of doing it.
Tbh the dude formed a solid ass dungeon team, shame he couldn’t come back from the expedition but, hey he at least is notable enough in elder scrolls lore to be mentioned by Imperial Knowledge.
There are new warcraft books (several) that explain the old age lore but i hate that because it changes the lore way too much for the shitty wow story, so I hope (because eso is canon and friendly to old lore) that it remains mostly the same. Maybe even make some story lines clearer/end them, but not add anything new that is major.
Man, if only I can find an official novel about Indoril Nerevar & how he rise to power until his demise in the hand of his wife & 2 friends. Or perhaps a novel about Tiber Septim & how he ascended to godhood. Those 2 lores always introgues me.
Thats enough backstory to make a movie about lol a group of people go into a dwarven ruin only for them to be killed and picked off. The movie ends with them all dead. Its kinda like a horror movie
I always found it unfortunate that you couldn't save umana and have her join as a companion. It would be a good choice between saving her or keeping her unique shield.
My God, I completely overlooked this and never realized there was a story going on here. I just thought it was some random treasure hunters or bandits with no depth. Thats a really cool bit of lore though.
One of my absolute- no- my ABSOLUTE favorite bit of environmental storytelling in Elder Scrolls history. As much as I think Morrowind is better than Skyrim in general storytelling and respects the lore more, Skyrim has*this ruin*. The first time I played Skyrim eight years ago I did it main quest only. Gotta say, I'm happy I did. Bethesda seemed to want to introduce concepts and locations like ruins, cities, and mines in that way exactly. The manner in which places line up just made sense that way. I've since moved past that and go wherever I want, but I always initiate the main quest on a new save for *this. one. ruin.* I explore no other Dwemer ruins before it. And you can tell that Bethesda intended it that way, because the reveal of a Dwarven Ruin through a simple ice cave and Blackreach right after is not only incredible for a first time player- but the reveal of the Falmer is the true core of Alftand's purpose in Skyrim. To be able to pick up the pieces of a mystery like the disappearance of the men and women who went on this expedition through a drug addict rambling madly to himself over his brother's corpse and journals in the hands of dead bodies or just lying on a table- their owners nowhere to be seen- scribblings of strange creatures with a hunched, vaguely humanoid shape- god it's such a good buildup if you have no idea what you're in for.
I wonder how come characters in lore say they've been stuck in a cave/ruins for day or weeks at a time yet we re able to clear them out in a day or less
Thats because player characters are prisoners who are free of fate and disappear after the event they were supposed to stop/create, or in short are op as sh!t
@@victormanyeruke9997 As someone who has played ES: Daggerfall, I can attest to the validity of this statement. Not that Daggerfall is a bad game, it's actually great, but taking days to get from one place to another on horseback without fast travel is irritating.
You have to take into consideration the games time, much as like fallout or TES (or any other games in general) have a clock which scales up in real time depending on how it goes. Don't understand? Well basically for example if your playing The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and you played for 10 minutes (of real life time) the game has a X2 mulitplier which makes said game go faster, (hence, why night goes by quickly in Skyrim or any other TES game)
I quite like this story. It made a nice little subplot while you head to Blackreach during the main questline. I don't know why I like stories of expaditions going wrong.
Could just be that the explorer was a scholar or former student at the College of Winterhold rather than an actual spy for the College. That place isn't exactly the most organized college I've ever seen.
Outstanding investigative reporting my friend! I never pieced all this together as I always just rush in and hurry to get the scroll. This was a great story the devs made for this quest.
I suppose the High Elf might be a Summerset Shadow but she might even have been a Thalmor operative. The Thalmor were snooping around Skyrim,as we see with Ancano, Estormo and Valmir.Any rumor of an Imperial trying to find something big might have alarmed them and they could no doubt easily find a magically talented individual to plant, even if she wasn't actually part of them.
Usually I go through Mzinchaleft so I can pick up Mjoll's sword - stack one quest on top of another. Now Alftand, I could never understand why they attacked the very obvious non-Falmer that shows up and says "Hello."
Cuz he probably thought we were another thunder stealer. After all, the Khajiit he left by the entrance didn't show up with you when you see him, so he probab!y thought we killed them, and that we are there to finish the job
@@darkslayer1161 A shame to be honest, i wish bethesda added in an alternate ending to the expedition where you could use the calm spell on Sulla and Umana

Dammit every time I see the vanilla imperial armor I literally vomit. It’s so horrible without mods!!! What was Bethesda thinking when designing that fucking armor?! They should have just take the one from Oblivion and keep it for every game!
