Gonna say that it was a combo of both Bait and Switch and honesty... this allows the OEM to take the blame, while the dealership is the "good guy" and wins the business. 🙂 It attracts a smart consumer, and gives the sales guy a back door to say... "hey it happens frequently, what can I say?" Either way its a fun part of the negotiation too...
I worked for a ford dealership that would put unattainable pricing out on their new cars and people would go there and get upset because they couldn’t get that price. I got fed up with it and told customers to go to a more honest dealership. Ended up quitting not too long afterwards.
Actually, dealerships do control those websites, but through a contractor who is instructed to lie. Its how they get around bait and switch. "oh, it's the marketing company's mistake."
Honest mistake. On the callback, the salesman's surprise reaction that the dealership would honor the numbers seemed genuine (or he was a darn good actor). There are conversations that go on behind the scenes that we'll never be privy to. But since the price was honored, I'll give the dealership the benefit of the doubt.
I think they got scared when you told them your name, your getting famous man fuck yea! I cant wait till I save up enough to get the car im looking at, and when that time comes, im going to you for your services!
It depends on how long this error stayed up on their website. I'd say if the erroneous information stayed up on their website beyond two weeks, then it's a lie.
@@johnshaddick6858 Not overpriced. Their prices reflect how much this administration has devalued our money by giving it away by the billions-trillions.

I’d say an honest mistake seeing as how tha demo rebate was blanketed over their entire inventory of Escalades. One question I do have; I was recently working on a lease deal with a salesman. I liked him, seemed like a straight shooter, offered more than I expected on my trade, showed me the residual on a 48/10k lease, but as soon as I asked about the money factor he became somewhat defensive, especially when I brought up buy rate/sell rate, telling me profits not a bad thing, etc, which I completely understand, as I told him, I’m a business owner as well and understand profit margins. I just wanted to be sure I wasn’t getting taken advantage of because with my math, the payment didn’t seem to add up unless they really marked up, what I found to be online, the money factor. Yet he wouldn’t disclose even the sell rate to me, so I walked away. I did have some negative equity in my trade which is why I was going for a lease, and I generally add about 30 bucks per 1,000 negative equity, however things still weren’t adding up UNLESS the MF was either higher than I found online, OR they marked it up drastically.
Cool that they honored it. Still not buying that they didn’t know the dealer discounts were on their website. Even though they removed all the discounts the following day. How can their SM or GM not know the discounts are being advertised? “Glitch” my ass. If not then the SM and GM are asleep at the wheel.
I like all the people who don’t work in the business are saying they’re lying. If it’s a corporate store the dealer does not control the website. Mistakes happen like this all the time on our dealer website not just on the price but on car info too. They made it right and no way tried to justify it the mistake.
I used to sell Cadillac, so at least most of what he says I can verify as true. Only the retired loaner cars get that extra factory $, and $6500 is about the max they might offer. Cash amount varies by model and miles/time in service. The computer glitch thing is suspect, but it seems like the dealer would not intentionally start a discussion with a customer that awkwardly.
I think he and the boss recognized your name and realized how bad it would look if you outed them on the internet. Therefore, they honored the advertised price and fixed the advertisement.
Local dealer has a discount on one of their escalades and the rest at MSRP, larger Cadillac only dealer has 10X the inventory but on the site at sticker price. Might have to use GM's software but the dealer can make some changes on their end.

It's fairly rare to see a car that is so clearly mispriced by thousounds, but it does happen on occasion.
I’d like to believe it was an honest mistake, but it wasn’t. Their website has $10k “demo” discounts now. And manufacturers don’t manage dealer websites. That was a straight lie. It’s clearly one of their cards they play to give the illusion they’re such great people, doing the right thing by honoring the price. The whole charade was rotten from the start.
No. A demo is still a "new" car since it's Certificate of Origin, a pre-title document, has not been surrendered to the Secretary of State and a title issued in that given state. If a title has been issued then yes it's officially a "used" car. Most demos have an in-service-date when put into service. That means when the demo is finally retailed the buyer will have less time and mileage under the factory warranty than a non demo model. A dealer may discount a demo more just to move the metal. A demo with a C-of-O will still be eligible for whatever incentives that are applicable at the time of sale on that model and model year.
