Jonny, what an absolute blessing for me to literally stumble across your stuff. I am 58 and have played since I was 6 (classical lessons for 10 years, then forays into pop, jazz, etc.). Because of pride in my younger years (and then very little time when the children came along), I never really progressed nor learned what I SHOULD have learned with piano voicings, modes, etc. I am now to the point where I plod through trying to come up with arrangements by ear (again, because I didn't learn all the voicings while younger) and I have realized it's time to LEVEL UP BABY! So I can't thank you enough for putting together these videos and making them so easy to understand and apply. I guess I'm saying that I have all the dexterity and finger strength in the world, and I have SOME knowledge of better arranging and better voicings, but I needed to "learn the language" muuuuuch better. And you have provided what looks to be an absolute treasure trove of material for me to greedily munch through! Those of you that are beginners/intermediates, please understand that THIS guy will truly help you advance MANY of your techniques that you will need to: play better, arrange better, solo better, and just BE BETTER! So please accept my sincere THANK YOU and keep doing what you are doing...you are helping many many musicians to improve our skilllz! Sincerely, Kevin B. Selby
I love this lesson Jonny, thanks so much! Great, really clear explanations and step by step guidance. The shape shifters sound terrific. This is going to keep me happily engaged and inspired the next coming days and weeks.
Jonny thank you not only for such helpful and useful techniques. So many times people forget that there are easier ways to present things in a “learner friendly” and efficient presentation style. You have changed more than just my piano knowledge. It’s caused me to look at my guitar differently as well. Thanks! 🙏
What you call an E half-dim over G is really in effect a G minor 6th with the 3rd displaced an octave. What determines a chord quality is how it functions harmonically in a moving context.
Hello sir Jonny it's very interesting about shape shifter. It's all about the in major scale . To position those notes wow. Thank you. It will help us to create our chords .
Thanks for sharing this new video! Can you please 🙏 tell me what brand and if possible model of the chair you use? Thanks a lot and best wishes in the new year!!
@@nelsonnicholson6175 no not even just that its that he taught improvisation in the keys of C and G, I just wish he would have a lesson for blues in other keys like G and F I assumed since he did it in G and C, he'd probabaly do it in other keys
You didn't count the notes (intervals) consistently. First you go up 5 notes (a fifth), then TWO notes (not 1, because the interval is a second), then 5 notes (a fifth) again. Counting music is counter intuitive... We are used to count a fifth starting at the starting note, but when we go up one note we don't realize that we have to count the starting note as well...

I love your tutorials because you break it down to the lowest term
fantastic teacher, thanks from Argentina
Johnny always comes with many surprises on the piano that are JEWELS!!! Thanks.
Shape shifters are totally awesome! One of your best lessons yet, Jonny.

Absolute truth written.

Great harmony tip to enhace chord progressions. I usually do this intuitively, but it`s good to know the theory behind. Thanks for the great lesson!

Tomorrow morning I will have fun with your shadow shifter chord. Thanks!

Wonderful Sir

beautiful music video
thanks happy new year 🤝🏻🌞👍🏻
very cool
Love this!!
Jony u rock !
So in five cases it's basically a power chord, then one diatonic note up and another power chord. This is going to be so useful.
As a guitarist/bassist, that's instinctively how I view it also! Power chord based on the root, then another power chord a 6th above it.
Thanks for sharing this new video! Can you please 🙏 tell me what brand and if possible model of the chair you use? Thanks a lot and best wishes in the new year!!
5:25 me listening to 2nd and 7th chords like woah these two are beautiful
Jonny 1 min later: I don't particularly like these...
I know, but it’s great to have both, right?😄
wonderfull
Nice!
Show 👏👏👏❤
Hello everybody, who knows which are the theory foundations (harmony) of these chords? why they sound so nice? thanks
He's basiucally playing all 6th chords. A third below the root lies our sixth. A sixth degree of any scale is also a mediant in harmonic functions.
hey can you release courses for blues piano any other keys besides C and G? like F or D?
Just transpose?

Don't confuse with drop 2. Drop voicing technique. This can help you get drop 2 voicings. No shape shifter at conservatory.
Sounds like micheal jackson song...human nature....i dont dig mj but my ear hears that....i dig Mahavishnu!

Bro you gotta use correct terms not shape shifted you confuse people like that
shape shifters played by a trans former, mmm I see what you did
When are you doing a live stream? it was awesome the last one
