The first Valle del Cauca inhabitants | Calima Archaeological Museum | Calima El Darien | Colombia

Welcome to the Emy's Curiosities Channel.
I am pleased to present this important Valle del Cauca pride museum, "The Calima Archaeological Museum", located in the Calima El Darién Municipality, Valle del Cauca (Colombia).
The museum contains an exhibition of more than 1,800 pieces dating back even more than 10,000 years; vestiges of the first men who inhabited the beautiful Valle del Cauca.
Among the cultures whose findings are presented, we have the ILama, Yotoco, Sonso Societies, among others. These societies had settlements in 6 municipalities in the Colombian south-west, Valle del Cauca: Calima Darién (where the Museum is), Yotoco, Restrepo, Dagua, La Cumbre and Viges. Currently, these municipalities are considered "archaeological", there are still discoveries of the great legacy that our ancestors gave us in pottery, goldsmithing, lithics and funerary customs. For security, the gold pieces are not found in this museum, but in the Calima Gold Museum, in the city of Santiago de Cali (Valle del Cauca), and in the Gold Museum of the capital of the country (Bogotá D.C.) .
These cultures had many skills in their development and evolution, due in large part to the different climatic floors of the Department of Valle del Cauca, which range from sea level to 4,000 meters high, and includes two of the three most important mountain ranges of Colombia: Cordillera Occidental y Cordillera Central.
The museum is in charge of INCIVA: Institute for Research and Preservation of the Cultural and Natural Heritage of Valle del Cauca.
