When your in boot don't over think things. That's what causes so much stress, I saw guys get worked up for the simplest of things. An don't worry about the Drill Instructors I mean if you basically do what they tell you the first time then they won't mess with you..as bad..
JAY FINLEY My ship date is may 5 but Im a grad so could be sooner good luck getting smoked keep your wits about you and I'll see you on the other side.
Thank you for your service!!!!! Thanks for putting this video together. My son (18yrs old) shipped earlier this week to Parris Island. Looking forward to graduation!! That first phone call really hit me!! Semper Fi!!!!
for all those who are not in the military or are keyboard warriors leave this guy alone this guy has heart and atleast he is following his dreams instead of playing soldiers so shut up
I DEPed into the Marine Corps in June and don't ship out until January. I have done hours upon hours of research and physical training to prepare me for boot camp. I have seen ever Marine Corps video there is. I came across your video, and this is BY FAR the most informative video about boot camp on UA-cam. Thank you for this. Semper Fi
8pm is bed and wake up at 4am, and whenever your senior has duty so like every third night, you wont get mail for the first 3 weeks though cuz everything is getting situated- Born to Kill
What is most important is to keep that faith. Stand tall stand proud and be proud of who you are about to be. A Marine. The strongest military family there is. You stand for what you believe. Be strong. God bless y'all
Lmao awesome vid man! I love how you said "you're gonna have shit birds barely doing 2 pull ups" hahahha that motivated me on doing well bc I am shipping off next month man!
I still have questions you didn't answer. How many iPods are we allowed to bring? If I catch a cold do I need a doctor's note to be excused? How much are the snacks in the vending machines? Do they have somewhere I can tie my dog or place my goldfish?
Even though this is such a huge troll, I'm still going to answer it. 1) No electronics are allowed there. 2) You will be on DEP (Delayed Entry Program) until you are not sick 3) Not sure 4) You can't bring pets.
thomas cochran I think you meant to use "you're" instead of "your." Allow me to explain. The word "your" implies you are referring to a possession of mine whereas "you're" implies you are describing me. "You're" is short for "you are", the letter "a" in "are" is replaced with an apostrophe (this ----> ' ) when the two words "you" and "are" connect with each other. You + Are = You're I hope this helps you Tommy! ;)
I have so many set to mail, just waiting on his platoon number and I will mail them. Bless you and your family's heart that you have not seen them in so long. Thank you for your service!!!!!
@Nick Shaffer I'm in the DEP Program and leave for Parris Island June 16th, and I know my run time is normally a 10:30 mile and a half. To run better, hydration is key. A gallon of water a day, a good, but somewhat fast pace, and on that last stretch, do a dead sprint to the finish. No matter if it kills you, it's very rewarding in the end.
Two years? Oh. When I got in, we were still polishing our boots and starching our cammies. Nov. 10, 1775, outside Tun Tavern: The second-ever enlistee in the brand new Marine Corps steps onto the porch and sees the first-ever enlistee. Second enlistee: "Wow, I'm in the Marine Corps now!" Its the same for everyone 12Am arrival no sleep admin for a couple days. Its suppose to disorient you & scare you into passiveness. It is literally a well designed operation to get all recruits in line for getting the recruits in line to become well trained Marine
You went over everything bro great vid! one question though i should ask my recruiter but say i gotta piss and we are in the field or i gotta poop what the hell am i sopposed to do?
Here is a good tip. Join the Marine Corps only because you really want to. Don't join just to satisfy someone, and/or to get them off your back. Otherwise, you'll end up regretting it. The only persuasion you should listen to is your own. Also, joining the military doesn't make someone a good person. Otherwise, there would be no such thing as a brig. It is who you are that makes you a good person
@77thNYSV they either keep it their at the base or they send it back home. Your recruiter will tell you what civilian clothes to bring so you wont have problems.
my uncle went to paris island. made fun of me since i was a hollywood marine. alot of guys from paris island at SOI said the worst of it was the humidity and sand fleas. I think i would have perfered that to the hills and mountains. MCRD SD was meh...the heat wasnt bad was june when i got there. phase two was not as boring as phase one but was a bit more exhausting since they take you from the depot to camp pendleton. double timing it along the beach in full gear and pack sucked. the ammo carry sucked because they took us down a road with deep sand. lol they set us up on top of a hill we had to go to after every evolution. during the crucible i myself got the shaft cause i had to do night watch both times we got to sleep and since we only got 4 hours each time i think i got about 2 hours the whole event. during the whole thing leading up to the reaper i think only 3 guys got hurt really bad from being stupid. then on the reaper i think only 2 guys got hurt. what was sad was one guy fell out after we were done and marching back to main side cause the idiot finished his one and a half MRE in the first day. final drill and inspection for us was week 12. week 13 was mostly last minute stuff pressing uniforms, getting our MOS, class room stuff. out of the whole experience..the only thing that unnerved me was the freaking stairway to heaven...i thought it would be the ones you see in full metal jacket..ya know the boards arranged like a ladder...but no..freaking polished logs..with lots of space between them..and making us wear our warm up top inside out...the only grip you had was your hands and rubber of your boots. meh. we missed out on the digital cammies..i think they started using them 3 classes after ours. didnt get any till after SOI.
Hey everyone we are now on Facebook! We look forward to sharing more of our lives with all of you, along with reviews, firearms training, and much more! Follow us at Americanstrong5!
+Americanstrong5 Hi guys, wants to know more about how to pass the Asvab exam the greatest success that I've ever had was by following the Kevins Exam Passer (look for it on Google) without a doubt the most helpful website that I have ever used.
Write ALOT of letters to him and send pictures, that helped me alot. Enjoy your time you have with him after he graduates because ive been in a year and havent seen my family in 9 months
i love watching vids like this, i got 2 1/2 more years left until i can join cuz im only 15, but i want to be a combat engineer then go marsoc and hopefully do 20 years and retire from the Military, get a nice job in engineering and be able to tell a shit ton of stories and be the first one in my family to be successful in life!
Thank you for serving! Your video is very informative. I will be enlisting and eventually going through OCS in either the Army or Marine Corps next year. Nice flag btw
Experiences vary. The general outline of bootcamp is the same for everyone but you can't really explain what to expect. That 3 days of receiving was 10x worse than Black Friday. Then again I went through bootcamp in 2006,
You can get a GI bill after you serve to pay for college afterwards and there are some tuition programs but i dont know how those work now. its different for whatever MOS you might have like if you are active duty infantry its not gonna happen because you wont have enough time
Honestly the only hard part about it is Thursday and Friday...seeing the graduated class and their happy families. Hurts you emotionally, other then that shit is pretty easy. First 3 weeks are horrible but 2nd-3rd phase is pretty chill after a while
I was disoriented for the first week. 1st few weeks are the worst but once you begin to get into shape and get over the initial shock it becomes bearable. Last few days are actually fun... Semper Fi... SSgt USMC(1994-2006)..
This seems like a whole different environment. I leave in oct and I am so nervous yet excited I don't think nothing can prepare you for this experience. just take a chance and got through with it.
@LISTALOBSTER You get an hour each day for free time. Right before free time starts a drill instructor will hand out mail. During free time you can also write or send letters, read, or just relax. Also later in training a squad leader can either extend free time to 2 hours or take away free time as punishment.
hi americanstrongs,i do big believe in us marines..hope through this video i got friend from us marines.im from philippines and hope any of your troops can visit here too through visiting forces in our country..a soldier is a hero.two thumbs up!
Man, I leave August 10th. Trying to get a closer date. Can't fucking wait lol. Some of my friends have already gotten back, I am happy for them. But at the same time it sucks dick being stuck as a poolie for five months.
There is almost no preparation you can do for what you are about to endure. Its hard to explain if you have never been. Its another world once you enter those gates. Get mentally ready. Shut your mouth until you are spoken to. Then reply as loud as you can. Get ready to run. Speed and intensity is a phrase you need to understand. Good luck
Watching this in 2017 because I'm so close to going into boot camp and I need to lose a bit or weight since I'm a short person. Any advice? I'm also very unsure about what exactly I want to do in the Marines. I'm hoping to go in August! (:
Thx for your insights im leaving today for paris island I pretty much knew most of this stuff but your video was very helpfull on the things I was not aware of thank you.
i cant wait till im 17 to enlist but im only 16 right now..im going to start talking to my recruiter soon and start training more since im already in decent shape...my cousin graduates friday and im going to be there.
@TheJiggabooooooooooo the marine corps doesn't let you wear contacts and they will issue you a new pair of glasses instead of the ones you currently wear. Providing you pass their vision test. Btw I don't know their stance on a lazy eye you will have to research that or ask a recruiter.
Mr King it's challenging but if you have heart it's nothing you can't get through. Literally just do not quit and try to remember everything is business not personal
TKJtv im thinking abouy doing it! Is there some way we can like talk about it cuz i wanna talk to someone with experience and u have been in for a year now right? I wanna join but i dont wana go infantry cuz i wanna be more set up for a career outside of the marines. Whats ur mos
Americanstrong5 Glad you made it back. Thank you for your service. So what do you want to do now? I like the videos I've seen on here so far that you've made.
they WILL see it.. I had a possession charge that was dropped but you still need to tell them about it. If you arent upfront with the recruiter they will find out and that is punishable with a fine and possible jail time. I had no problem getting in with a possession charge that was dropped
This is a serious question, but did anyone cry? I mean.. it's embarrassing but I wasn't really subject to a lot of harshness in my life. Sometimes a mixture of anger and stress make my mind wanna tear up, even though I really don't want to or feel like doing it. It's very involuntary. I'm not sure if I'd do it in basic training, but that's really the only thing I'm unsure about. It's my goal to enlist in the USCG by the way.
Lol man brings back memories, worst part of boot camp is you see something either stupid or funny and you can't laugh it you will get IT'd other than that it's an experience though will never forget Ooraah Marine Corps!
I'm almost 16 years old male and I am planning on joining the Marines when I graduate, I can run a mile in about 7 minutes. My question is what kind of workouts should I start doing to prepare to excel on the physical side of boot camp? or just any tips/advice in general would be a great help.
there is a great app called fitness prep it is a 10 week workout and it tells you exactly what to do and when/how long you should do it it exactly what the marines do at MARSOC BAD1GAMER678
I wasn’t trying to say that my friend is better then anyone else or anything like that, also he doesn’t hold a high opinion of himself and thinks that he is better or has a big head all i was trying to say was that he has changed allot since then because boot camp was the only peace of the Marines that he had experienced at that point. He would agree that all of your military serves fare exceeds his at this point, sorry if people felt insulted.
If your going to be a marine. Just work for it. if you cant run, get up and start jogging, if you cant do pull ups do pushups and flexed arm hangs. You have to work for everything. and sitting around wont help you any. your only fucked if you dont try.
As you age you'll start to sort it out Some of you're life changing experiences will make sense, some will not but all of you're experiences will drive you.You got to control the drive, and not let it mindlessly drive you. The discipline you learned, especially in the Marine Corps is essential to deal with PTSD.If you succumb to the PTSD traps, drugs, alcohol it will destroy you, your family and shut you out of the world.
im leaving to p.i in 7 days, this video helpful, the only thing im worried about is the heat and water survival week, besides that im motivated and ready.
What if i just want the job i'm hoping for? I heard the USMC won't guarantee that, so should i join the army instead? I don't want to put in all that hard work for nothing
I am scared as crap to join the Marines, but I've made my choice to and I'm not changing it. I just hope I can keep off the radar and hopefully not have all my DI's yelling at me about anything... if that's even possible
if youre watching this..... STAY MOTIVATED :D
oorrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
somekindofmonster7 RAOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many iPods are we allowed to bring?
If I catch a cold do I need a doctor's note to be excused?
How much are the snacks in the vending machines?
Do they have somewhere I can tie my dog or place my goldfish?
Even though this is such a huge troll, I'm still going to answer it.

Im planning on enlisting into the Marines right after high school, so this helps. So i kinda know what to expect, thank you.
I just came back. Ooh rah!

I'm enlisting right after high-school. I'm confident I'll do well in boot camp. Semper Fi.

Thank you for serving! Your video is very informative. I will be enlisting and eventually going through OCS in either the Army or Marine Corps next year. Nice flag btw
Just keep in mind they went through the same thing and usually after the hazing you end up with a stronger bond
Experiences vary. The general outline of bootcamp is the same for everyone but you can't really explain what to expect. That 3 days of receiving was 10x worse than Black Friday. Then again I went through bootcamp in 2006,
I forgot to mention along the way we picked up this boot-O'Bannion
You can get a GI bill after you serve to pay for college afterwards and there are some tuition programs but i dont know how those work now. its different for whatever MOS you might have like if you are active duty infantry its not gonna happen because you wont have enough time
I leave on February 17th...I couldn't be more excited
Honestly the only hard part about it is Thursday and Friday...seeing the graduated class and their happy families. Hurts you emotionally, other then that shit is pretty easy. First 3 weeks are horrible but 2nd-3rd phase is pretty chill after a while
I graduated 35 yes ago from MCRD. It sounds a little different from then, but 👍 good job. I can only remember about half of it.
Haha and this video was made almost 10 years ago now so who knows what it’s like today
I was disoriented for the first week. 1st few weeks are the worst but once you begin to get into shape and get over the initial shock it becomes bearable. Last few days are actually fun... Semper Fi... SSgt USMC(1994-2006)..
+Armando Velez its its easy as long you no how to swim if you don"t no how to swim the just don"t join until you learn how to.
This seems like a whole different environment. I leave in oct and I am so nervous yet excited I don't think nothing can prepare you for this experience. just take a chance and got through with it.

Mr King it's challenging but if you have heart it's nothing you can't get through. Literally just do not quit and try to remember everything is business not personal

Frankie Gibbs This was 4 years ago, getting out next month! Yes 0311. Deployed twice. - Born2Kill
Americanstrong5 Glad you made it back. Thank you for your service. So what do you want to do now? I like the videos I've seen on here so far that you've made.

My brother is in San Diego for USMC boot camp. I just got some letters from him. He said he got to watch the dark knight rises
@tom curran at least 50. Shoot for 75 but push-ups won't matter
I'm almost 16 years old male and I am planning on joining the Marines when I graduate, I can run a mile in about 7 minutes. My question is what kind of workouts should I start doing to prepare to excel on the physical side of boot camp? or just any tips/advice in general would be a great help.
you need to run faster and start running 3 miles

there is a great app called fitness prep it is a 10 week workout and it tells you exactly what to do and when/how long you should do it it exactly what the marines do at MARSOC BAD1GAMER678
Thank you mam! - Born to Kill
Im leaving for boot camp later this year, i heard you say around 4:50 you dont PT but 3 times a week? i had the impression you PT everyday.
Demon no if you sign a contract for the specific mos then u are gonna get it. Just make sure ur contact says it
I am scared as crap to join the Marines, but I've made my choice to and I'm not changing it. I just hope I can keep off the radar and hopefully not have all my DI's yelling at me about anything... if that's even possible

I honestly can't wait to get on that bus, and feel like shit, I can't wait for the day that I think to myself "what the fuck am I doing here".
By the way, iCorps app is a perfect tool for knowledge and scoring.
