    The entire video was great, but your point at 24:12 & talking about how health is the most important issue here is absolutely right! While I don’t judge others for using PEDs (unless they’re fake natty’s lying about it to sell something or make money by deceiving people), I also know that there are massive potential health & quality of life risks to using any drugs, which includes PEDs.
    I decided a LONG time ago that living a long, healthy, & happy life was the most important thing to me, which is one of the biggest reasons I’ve never touched a single drug in my life. Now that I have kids, that’s only become more important to me, & I’ve even adapted my own training to be even safer & taking less risks than I used to, as being able to do everything I want to do with my kids while being physically fit thru old age is a top priority of mine. Abusing PEDs for aesthetic or egotistical purposes is a risky behavior IMO & would also not be providing a positive example to my children to follow (the only exception to this would be if I actually needed to take HRT for medical purposes, which I thankfully have no need for)

    • @vanyel_etc8695
      @vanyel_etc8695 2 роки тому +6

      I like this comment. A lot of the comments section is very anti MK because of this video, which isn't the truth. Yes, NH is right that health is most important, but being natty isn't objectively the most healthy choice. For folks over 60, HRT can really help their health. For trans men, HRT is required to actually transition. Outright rejecting drugs isn't inherently healthy, just like doing test isn't inherently unhealthy within the limitations of sustainability. If I'm natty, but I'm dirty bulking year round or I'm overtraining or I'm holding 8%BF year round, I'm not a healthy individual, regardless of my avoidance of drugs.
      This is where I disagree highly with NH - the hard and fast rule against drugs is wrong. We need to add the nuance of how health and fitness are not the same thing, despite how much value fitness *can* have to overall health, fitness can also ruin health without any drug usage whatsoever.

    Dude, natural lifting is better hands down. I am getting back into lifting after almost 3 years of having stoped. I trained for more than 10 years natural. Apart from some bodyfat gained and a little muscle lost I still look jacked and strong and that was from progressive chalistenics exclusively!
    You cant keep most of your muscle with a long layoff if you made your gains using drugs.

    • @nickal3x
      @nickal3x 2 роки тому +22

      Every time when it comes to drugs use vs natural lifting I just comically compare the situation with addicted gamblers vs non-gamblers / other people that think long term for themselves. It's still a gamble if you take drugs... Starting from a shit stack, under dosed that gives no results, to fake substances that may kill you, to taking "quality" drugs but still looking like trash because other reasons (poor diet, shitty training, poor sleep, genetics). That's more like a short term thinking, you know the basic excuse "I take drugs now because I want to look my best at 20-25 and not regret later at 40 that I missed my chance ". Usually, in my experience at least, short term thinking and the "easy way" turn out to be bad choices in the future and trying to "hack" the system doesn't make you a winner most often. Usually hard work pays off itself more than finding the shortcut.

Long story short, I was really insecure with my body because of bullying and my family forcing me to be 'a man'. I found the solution in testosterone and other drugs, a beautiful body and now I'm more man than man. I'm not using anything anymore for a long time and I wish I could go back in time so I can tell my young self what life really is. I see people here saying 'yeah you do what you want with your life man' but saying this ignores all that these drugs can do on someone, not physically but psychologically. These drugs feeds on what your mind feels and make you use more. I can talk about it if you/you guys what, just ask. I really wish these things didn't exist at all.

When you don't have acess to information and find yourself in a situation that is really horrible/sad/whatever your decision making skills aren't the best, more so at 18 years old. I originally thought the video might have been made with the idea that your character as a person isn’t directly determined by your natty status but then as it continued it became more clear that it was just insulting people who choose not to take PED’s without asking why they wouldn’t do them. The parts where he said natural people must want to take PED’s because they want to know about them is honestly shortsighted and your point about rationalization highlighted that perfectly. In European countries they put images of the side effects of cigarettes on the packaging, why? To act as a deterrent. Informing the public of the risks and health effects of illicit substances directly helps prevent their usage not by fear but by education on the matter. I do think the stigma surrounding PED’s makes it hard to discuss the risks they pose, but it also helps prevent a lot of the general public from abusing them as well. Overall your response was very good and put my feelings into words and confirmed why some of his points rubbed me the wrong way.

It could essentially encapsulate your philosophical and moral/social views in relation to things like lifting, masculinity, the mentality of strength, building of character, etc. It could all be easily framed within the scope of manga, literature, media, and natural bodybuilding. However I think that hard drugs and PED are two different type of drugs. An heroin addict is gonna look unhelathy, skinny and emaciated, a coke or meth addict might sound like a schizophrenic person to a sober eye, a PED user instead, especially to the ye of novices that have just started lifting, is going to look majestic, big, strong, herculean and some people are even unaware of their PED use. The benefits of PED use are visible from the outside, while recreational drugs only have a short lasting mental "benefit", e.g the "high", which from the outside is not even that cool to look at

      Has doing that hard and fast rule bullshit ever helped or stopped ANYBODY? No. It doesn't fix shit. NH even says this less than 10 minutes into the video, the correct decision is to say "never or forever" because that's the truth. If you're natty, you can never ever do a cycle. If you're enhanced, you're on PED's forever. It's how it is. Saying "you're an inferior person for doing PED's" is just a fucking lie. Are you a healthier person for being natty? @@vanyel_etc8695 The biggest part of the health problems in bodybuilding and powerlifting is the drug use lol. As for the lies you're referring to, I can only assume you mean the lies of "fake natties" which are egregious in promoting body dysmorphia and spreading mistrust of real natties. What almost seems worse however is those influencers who openly take steroids, invariably causing steroid normalization among their followers, many of whom are often young kids blinded by respect for their idols. Anywhere on gym tik tok you can find young kids asking questions like "Is it okay to do a cycle of tren if I'm 14?" We have rotted these children's brains and crushed their perception of their own natural potential by convincing them that all the bodybuilders and powerlifters and everyone else they look up to is on steroids. This has been done through natty or nots and steroid honesty. And all this considered we realize that lying is not the issue, it's the drugs.
      Trt is used 90% of the time as a PED. It's not very useful to talk about the instances where it is actually applied therapeutically as this is the exception. Whenever test levels can be raised naturally (which is almost all the time), this is always the superior option. People have been convinced trt is just a magical way to become an alpha male and many are completely unaware of the net negatives and the risks involved. If trans men want to take a steroid I don't see why they should be treated any differently than anyone else. Drugs is drugs. You're coming at it from a perspective of being fair to everyone's perspective, I'm coming at it from the perspective of minimizing drug abuse. We've been having a lot more open and non-judgemental conversations about drug use in recent years and drug use has increased. Stigmatizing drug use is the only way to minimize its use.
      I suppose saying "naturals are better than roiders" is indirectly saying "people who do PEDs are inferior" however they are not one and the same. Are people who don't drink "better" than habitual drunks? Yeah. Refraining from vice is a virtue. There are many steroid users I respect because I'm able to recognize this is only one part of who they are. But I cannot respect someone who does not recognize that recreational use of hard drugs is wrong. These drugs are not wrong just because they cause unhealth of the body, although this is significant enough. Poisoning your body causes unhealth of the mind and even spirit, if you believe in that sort of thing. It's an addiction, and I do believe it causes significant degradation on every level.

    RF saying guys who don’t use PEDs just because they’re scared of needles and don’t know where to get them is projection in the highest order.
    I also find it peculiar how he will talk about Greg promoting body dysmorphia with body fat levels, yet he does the exact same thing (only in the opposite end) where he routinely mocks novices who can’t hit certain numbers, saying things like “Lol he can’t even bench 185, what a twig. Probably eats like a bird.”

    another thing i would like to add on the ill effects of drugs is how it fucks up your mind and blinds you to some severe red flags, this is something i have seen time and time again on mpmd channel where he commends people like dorian yates who actually got off using as much and downsized, this implying that most people doing such peds even if they're getting their bloodwork and whatever else to see their health status just ignore most problematic stuff because of them feeling compelled to do so by their own severe body dysmorphia
    it can also be said that is peds didn't exist many good people like John wouldn't have had to jump on drugs however conservative a dose because everyone would've been natural, and close to 100% of the deaths in bodybuilding wouldn't have happened

    I think that there is a separation between moral superiority and the factual effects of drug abuse. If naturals want to feel good and unite together that is all good. And having pride as a natural is not wrong, I think the key is keeping that limited as much to the fitness aspect.
    There are steroid users who influence others in extremely negative ways and their morality can be judge accordingly. However, the concept of looking down on the group of steroid users as a whole is a little too sweeping for me.
    We can also bring up that not everyone responds well to society placing sweeping rules on what is right and wrong. That’s why I tend to feel shaming and feeling superior doesn’t completely solve the issue, but it is ok for naturals to feel that way. And in many ways natural training is superior from most perspectives. It’s unquestionably healthier.
    Naturals will live a longer, healthier life. Keep doing a good job of highlighting this and not letting people think drug abuse is healthy. The key is education, not sweeping condemnation imo. It is a personal choice (unless you’re an influencer or are effecting others to take drugs), but a personal choice does not mean it’s the right choice…or the most healthy one. I truly believe people can do what they want if they aren’t hurting others, and I get a lot of people do end up negatively effecting others. Just think it’s a lil more nuisanced. Thanks for the vid

If not we have a world in which everyone is uneducated about the products they consume. Imagine a world where people who criticize things are ignored, not only will society and culture collapse but freedom won't exist. Freedom is the availability of choice, if bad reviews did not exist and all that existed were people co-opting, then naturally using that product is the only choice. I suspect NH's reason to wage jihad against PEDs is not only a question of ethics and public safety, I think it might be a personal issue as well. He hasn't explicitly said this, but I think he has a case of prostate cancer in his family and that's why he has such an aggressive stance. I may be wrong, but I just have this hunch. For the people who don't know, TRT greatly accelerates prostate cancer and triggers it in people who may be prone to having it, but otherwise might not get it early, like in their 40s-50s, more like in their 70s.

    IMO, sponsors like that are just scare tactics into making men think they have a poor hormonal profile because they're not the top 0.0001% genetic elite. Basically if you don't have a barbarian's level of testosterone, you only have estrogen. When in reality, most men have an average hormonal profile, and hormone levels can be improved by training, general physical activity, good diet, etc - you don't have low testosterone just because you're not able to put on 100lbs of muscle after 1 month of lifting.

    32:13 Personally I dont agree with this. Dont think we should be shaming people because they have taken PEDs. You can shame PEDs themselves all you want, but shaming an individual for making a decision that isn't harming anyone else (in a significant capacity) seems unneccesary. Just like being obese we need to educate people on the serious side effects of PED usage. But I am not going to shame someone for being obese

      So the purpose wouldnt be to shame PEDs users because we want to feel better about ourselves, is to shame the idea of destroying your body from the inside out "just to look good" (outside of competitions and such). But thats my interpretation

      Now i understand your point, you dont want to shame the entity of the people, that its fundementally different from PEDs. The problem is that, they choose to do that. So its not about shaming the whole person, just the processes behind making such a decision: lack of logic, social pressure, being naive, etc. And to be honest, i dont know if i like the word "shame" in this context, i prefer "logically criticizing", shaming sounds like i woke up grumpy and im telling kids to get out of my lawn

      For me it comes down to how much of a negative impact that person is having on others. The lines drawn will be different for everyone, it's a grey area. But for me, personally, someone using PEDs is not harming other people enough to warrant shaming.

It also chooses to stigmatize things that are not harmful, for example breastfeeding in public (many other examples).
