I can tell you they won't be shooting these. There's a reason 180-184gr hybrids dominate in major comps. I like to try new things in F-Open, but this particular bullet is not worth the trouble despite having great BC etc.
i worked up a berger target load in .300wsm that produces a .5" group at 300 yrds those and sierra matchkings are the most accurate in my 30 cal rifles
What's a few quality die sets you recommend? I'm not shooting in competitions but I am hunting. Wanted to start loading my own 308 ammo. I have a basic lee precision turret press.
John quick question on the 7mms as i diving into my first 7 for nrl hunter and looking at trying to work up a heavy load for my 7 saw. Whats your thoughts on the berger 180hybrid vs the 184 hybrids. I have a 1x8 twist so the 190s are usable but not liked as it takes you down to the 2600s for velocity while you can keep the 180 to 184s still low to mid 2700s.
So, 32 inch barrel in just .284 WIN which bullet should I start with? 180, 184 or 190? New rifle and cartridge for me so curious about a starting point thanks.
Personally I would use the 190 grain bullets, N-165 and for me it was .020 off the lands. 3/8” groups and 7.3 mil hold at 1,000 It bucks the wind like you wouldn’t believe.

I might have to give these a try in my 7mmRM. Right now I'm running 190 A-Tips at ~2800 FPS on lighter loads in about a 1/4 MOA custom outfit. 1:8 twist
F class john you went from 190s to 180s amd 184s but mostly shoot 180s Im thinking this test was fun and thisnis in a 7prcw with n555 beforw was a 7wsm wild cat with h1000 and you were going to pack it in amd tod lent you his rifle 284win 180s and metaled that day Maybe get a 1:8 twist and try and run it in your club mathes for a barrel ? I seen you in a vidoe give these bullets a thums down amd said you neber run the over 180s or 184s unless there was none to be found?
There is always a difference when comparing light bullets vs heavier bullets on recoil. Heavier bullets, equals more recoil. Weather or not it is noticeable depends on the shooter and the set up.
@@jeffreyherman2729hmm if you got a 16-20+ pound rifle for F-Class or a precision rifle, recoil can’t even be noticeable much when shooting. If you got your standard lightweight hunting rifle, of course recoil will be more Simple physics on that
I figured all those would need at least a 1-8 twist. Berger should have just put a polymer tip on their VLD Bullets. That would boost their all ready incredibly high B.C. The 190 grain bullets has less B.C. Then their 195 grain burger so I don’t see the point.
Hey look I love the 190s because of the on paper ballistics but I will say the 180s shoot better. I feel like this is a Berger 190 sales pitch and I'm all for it. Sell me, sell me on why they're better but my targets tell me the 180s are better. I love you all. Big kisses
@@Patrick-xd8jv It works but to be fair it's likely that an 8 or 8.5 would be more favorable for the 190s depending on the speeds you're shooting. Stabilization is the results of twist AND speed so the speed does matter.
The 7 prc case isn't well liked by ultra high precision guys. It's got some pressure issues that have made it a really tough nut to crack in terms of getting a hot yet accurate load around the .5 minute range.
I'm being pessimistic but I'm really concerned that those guns might explode and I think it needs a lot more time to prove itself and that it is commercial viable
Great to see F Class John on the channel, the mans experience is well respected!
We need a video on the 197gr and 200gr sierra pointed match kings
Johns content is great.
I'll wait till Aug after the f-class nationals and see what the top 1/3 are shooting.

What velocity are you going to be to launch these at?
These were mild in the mid 2800's
His data had 2800 FPS, which isn't far fetched with a long barrel.
@ my .284 runs the 180’s 2820 with a 31, so it sounds about right
I run them at 2940 in a SAUM with 30 barrel,8 twist. 190's is excellent!!

What twist you liking on the 190s
If I were dedicating a barrel to them I'd be with an 8.5 twist or maybe even an 8. This testing was with a 9.
@FClassJohn I have a 8.25 here and have a 9 coming
Weren’t these released in 2020?

He is still full steam on his own channel and is also contributing for us now!

What twist?
This was all with a 9 twist.

I thought we were past small sample size testing.
Well there were many small samples with consistent results..
@ I thought every group had some adjustment made to it. Maybe I’ll have to go back and re watch it
I must have missed where you said what caliber you were loading for, 7mm PRC?
7/6.5PRC
The last I heard, John has been shooting a 6.5 PRC necked up to 7 mm, spec'd out by Alex Wheeler = 7PRCW

This. We need a new case that can take advantage of these in a short action.
Not enough space to make sense. Short action really makes no sense beyond .264"
