"prevent the Greek economy from imploding"
A little late for that I think
Looks like this was filmed about 10 years ago. It was well on the way down then as well.
@@goose300183 so now they have epsilon4?
🤔🤔😂😂😂😂

lol when i heard that i immediately scrolled down to the comments to see if someone caught that, this was the very first comment hahaha
I think we can all agree that we would enjoy the video a lot more without the drama and fake deadlines. There are a ton of youtubers out there showing their everyday lives and how they work and it's interesting to watch. People enjoy watching engineers doing maintenance and how things are fixed and how people perform certain jobs. No one wants or enjoys the drama and tension of this manufactured urgency. Quite the opposite it ruins the whole mood and makes everything look silly and fake.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
Yeah
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need (and I)
Don't care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree
I don't need to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy with a toy on Christmas Day
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
You, baby
Oh, I won't ask for much this Christmas
I won't even wish for snow (and I)
I'm just gonna keep on waiting underneath the mistletoe
I won't make a list and send it to the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to hear those magic reindeer click
'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do?
Oh, baby, all I want for Christmas is you
You, baby
@@stacieorico5624 quite a random reply there
This would be so much better if it wasn't for the voice actor and typical Discovery Channel deadlines.
everything is so dramatized ughh..will it make it on time..will the team be able to save the machine blah blah
I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that every episode in this series will supply more of the same. There is no finesse used in the creation of these presentations, just blunt force trauma. Cram as much noise, effects in as you can.
Tensions are rising. If the team doesn't repair the bucket miner in the next 4 hours, the team could very well be eaten alive by giant sand worms. Find out what happens next week on Monsters of Mining.
Like the constant threat they wont have electricity lol
I wish they would just tell about machine and maintenance periods. No one need the overblown drama nor stupid drums...
The fate of the entire galaxy and life as we know it is resting on the Greek engineer to fix his machine in time! *Insert dramatic music* 😱
Nice!
entire galaxy LOL
I literally disliked and had to stop watching because it started to piss me off :(
TO MUCH DRAMA!
More exciting than ice road trucker
proud to say ive worked on nearly all these machines
Thnx mate. You build the world.
Awesome. :)
lmao, of course her name is "Olga"
Hahahahahahahaha
Oh you work on mines venicles .what you ride ?
"Olga"
"What???"

Yea deff seems like a cool chic. Gotta be to be doing that kind of work.
How could you not like a dirty blonde who sounds like she's climaxing at the end of each sentence!?
- "Never walk under the boom..."
- [Camera man immediately walks under the boom to follow him]
yes they kept talking about how dangerous things work yet when they started to initially remove the track from the machine that cable from the crane could have snapped in the track would have flown back at that man standing there just blown him apart there was also a guy at one point that had his back turned to the crane as it was pulling the track backwards that's why all those accidents happen people are idiots
😂
....like when something is dropped from overhead....supposed to call out "Heads"...Every single person in harms way will Always...Stop and look up!...I determined on average it is Safer not to say anything at all except SORRY!..dude...or...Mr Dude!..A.C.Feuerhelm...
He's probably a couple of metres behind where the camera crew looked like they were, and the camera stops rolling. They probably stopped, took steps the right, and the post production team just cut the footage there.
@@deepsquat600 The cables and equipment were undersized. No wonder there are accidents.
OHH NOOOOOO.... EPSILON 3... OHH NOOO THE HOORRORRR.... More Fake Drama than Dr. Phil
But....but....EPSILON 3 MAY NEVER WORK AGAIN! OH WAIT IT'S FINE NVM
Don't disrespect doctor phil it might be fake but its entertaining
Standard fare for these types of documentaries. "Potential Tragedy" followed by "Crisis Averted " Utter garbage, turn the TV off!
"enough to flip and lift a battle tank"
Now, are we talking about a an m22 locust at 7.4 tonnes, M1A3 Abrams at 64 tonnes or Maus at almost 200 tonnes?
Thx
probably just the itchy locust
One of these machines accidentally scooped up a CATERPILLAR D11 so a couple M1 Abrams.
Can't believe man utd paid more for Fred than the cost of the bucket excavator!
I've seen this on, Mega Machines , X machines , heavy metal taskforce , etc. just reruns with different names
Still awesome though :P
A GIANT machine what a masterpiece it is.wow l would love to see this monster.
Good show. Enjoyed seeing the effort these guys put out making repairs.
Imagine getting these beasts on jack stands
“Welcome back to, ughh, another shift”
but i wanted to see all the insides of the bucket wheel excavator - I wanted tour darn it. Still cool. Proper people went inside an abandoned one.
worked on one and there aint much except a huge switch room or engine room and a slew chamber where the cables to the bucket lay and drag along on a "drag chain" made off plastic and a big funnel for the ore to fall into. thats it really
Just go the plant and they will give you a tour
These seem so much more practical then drag lines.
6:02 it's ok, just drive over the drum...safety first!
Erica is such a strong mama 🏋🏼🏋🏼🏋🏼🏋🏼...from used to flying now to fixing "giant's parts", I salute her
6:45 brand new track? more light slightly less ancient track. Looks like they had budget cuts.
its greece m8 its prolly a nazi handout
Thank you! Like if they're going prepared to fix the thing and replace those tracks you'd expect something that doesn't look rusted all to hell like the old one
@@arterias346 ontop of that, it looks like they a bunch of clowns running around working on it
These without doubt are going to be old tracks, what I assume they're doing is keeping the old steel/iron links since these rarely go bad but replacing all the hardware such as the bushings and pins. Just like when you get a 'brand new' drive shaft for your car nine times out of ten the shaft it self is an old used part but the joints at the ends have been replaced with new.
no they are new tracks but there has definiticly ben budget cuts becaus the equipment they use to pull it on and off is not great.
I have hope for 🇬🇷 people, they are descendants of such great history of be a world power
Stop with the childish drama... just stop
Could not watch.
They're acting like a fucking bucket wheel excavator is going to save the human race, ensure permanent world peace, solve world hunger, solve poverty, create sentient artificial intelligence, discover proof aliens exist and then unite humans and aliens under one banner at the same fucking time
@@Misha-dr9rh Yea the show is noxiously overly dramatic but in all the shit post you did there is slight truth to them. I have the sneeking suspicion that BWE manufacturers pump out less machines than Bugatti which makes them somewhat of a rare commodity.
@@RBRat3 true. But sucks that society doesn't give a fuck about those machines. They only care for Instagram lmao
Who?
The Epsilon excavator needs some chrome. And maybe some whitewalls or racing stripes.
Some chrome tracks and exahust 👌
A fancy paint job would be nice.
33:20 "Never walk under the boom its a suspended load..."
*camera man proceeds to walk under the boom*
Debby capps
wonder why the scene is cut just before entering under it :D
maybe we can find the full scene on news
imagine one mining machine down being a national security threat lol
Its A Giant Money Loss
3500 for one of those buckets really doesn't seem that bad, 16 of them is another story though
LoL! That's actually what crossed my mind too! ✌🏻😁👍🏻
I like how the Greek guys don't wear high vis at all, but the Australians are wearing high vis in their control room.
My 4 yo son is obsessed with the bucket excavator
We modern people take for granted.
We are miners thank you for saying that we are the heroes becouse we're securing the peoples need for their way of life while more people thinking that we are a destroyer who destroys their environment
Wtf are you talking about
Yeah exactly. Mining is an inherently destructive act
So you've trained years to be an engineer and or mechanic for bucket-wheel excavators. You're overworked, filthy and sleep deprived working hard on trying to remove the gears from the wheels gearbox with a crane and then 42:35 Mike from the paint dept just rolls on up to paint a rail. Incredible
A paint glove would be faster and better than a brush. No need to be neat.
well, somebody's gotty keep those rails from rusting thru, they're important for worker safety after all
Easier to keep rust at bay than to repair rusted areas.
This video deserves more views! It's very educated and mind blowing!
I love you bodin my son
@39:35
"To repair the pinion, we must use our experience and the principles of engineering!"
* Proceeds to beat the shit out of the pinion *
lol, it's called percussive maintenance for a reason (but srsly sometimes that's the only thing that works)
nice nier automata boss
The EP definitely needs a couple rally stripes and some chrome.
i love this document for my Cities Miners Ptolemaida
I like how they show several shots of a Greek guy painting the rails of the excavator and when they come back at the end the job was never completed, it was really badly done too.
Neatness doesn't count. Don't forget that the shots were probably made at the same time and edited later.
Nice Machine.
So much respect o the mechanics
7:35 - "It can rip someone's head off, OR cause a very big accident" I like his use of the word "or" in that statement lol
I think I'll chose a different job
Great information I Love bucket whell excated it 24 hrs operation
I Love welding metal steel.
Literally Metal Gear
Very amazing to see machine
good video
There is no making up for lost time. You have to plan for down time. All machines need repair.
Greece seems to have a problem with putting all their eggs in one basket. Here’s a very good example of that.
that South African accent lol
Woooooow😱😳👍🏽
Awesome!!!
that girl changing out the bits is really cute
Very cool 😎!
Stoped to be hammering on things it’s out safety glasses, nice vlog real historic story/ movie documentary, I love this stuff thanks BigAl California.
if we experienced an apocalipse i would befrend a german engineer
Or the maintenance chick
Don't worry, the Greece economy imploded without the help of that machine being broken...
it has nothing to do with being lazy..
No wonder its imploding they spent all their money on bucket wheels.... go figure.
Thnk god that bucket excavator is working, I'm really proud of my engineering👨🔧 seeing in the action
When you see something like this and immediately think "Borderlands".
Oooohh yea baron flynts excavator base at salt flats
I love the names if these monster machines
man, the things you take for granted when you dont understand how much goes into producing electricity.
those Germans they can build machines, that looks fun running a company building those gears.
anyone can built this thing, with a discipline and solid dedication, the German sure know how to master this skill
"Never walk under the boom, because it's a suspended load"
Camera crew proceeds to walk under the boom.
Very nice machine well done
What kind of measurement is "How long it takes for usain bolt to run across".
Greta must love this............
This is as close as we'll get to building a deathstar lol.
This make me want to rewatch Mortal Engines...
Nice documentary!
Good morning team of engineers
This is fascinating! I Love this show
THEY'RE Destroying the EARTH and actually have pride??AMAZING
cool stuff
Sweet
That control center looks like it's from the 1980's.
Massive machine
39:30 For everything else we must use our experience and... the principles of engineering.
*slams gear with huge hammer* :D
He must be related with Jeremy Clarckson!
You'd be surprised as to what can be done with percussive maintenance.
When you're stuck, try the simplest things first...
Erika is my kind of girl
@Savior Flair ima have to watch this again no idea what this is lol
Very impressive machines and outstanding workmanship, great job guys.GERRY G. from canada
Anything FOR a paycheck??AMAZING
Thank goodness here on UA-cam " L " key , I can SKIP MOST of the drama. Fake deadlines and such. Can't watch on TV.
This is. M👹NSTER MACHINE.
EXAMPLE of great engineering
oh my god, this beast so issane
Awesome
I'm still here waiting for my gundam/jaeger
Looks to me like the Greeks would help themselves a lot by having two guys constantly going over the machine with pressure washers to keep it free of abrasive dust and mud. Start at one end and go to the other, then start back again. Clean equipment lasts longer, and is easier to service.
Yes, they don't even clean and grease the new pins before fitting them!
A continuous mining machine was once in use at the Belle Ayre mine in northeastern Wyoming. It has been taken out of service and a multimillion dollar yard art for at least a decade now.
Unfortunately every time a new, larger generation of shovels and trucks comes out the economics of these and large draglines becomes less favorable. Too bad, these ultra machines are way cool.
@@lowercherty , I agree. I love u.
And to believe that's a small one.
Safety isn't #1 priority

Scheduled overhaul ov the bucket wheel
I know, right? I hate this TV BULLSHIT of "They have only 13 weeks, the before Greece power supply becomes threatened." Over-dramatic bullshit.
Put some pallets/ plywood under the buckets so the workmen don't have to work in a pigsty. Sheesh
The earth destroyer
I really like it that Fallout 76 used this mega machine as a world prop with real life analytics and their fantasy fusion-reactor tech while keeping the theme of why Fallout is weirdly a better place than ours. Plus, while black titanium is a real-life mineral, it's not that strong and hardened cast iron can beat it in longevity and stress-bench tests.
Titanium is light and strong. That's the key benefit. As strong as steel and about as light as aluminium.
@@ragnoxten4158 True, but as its chemically black, its chemical components are weakened and doesn't hold the proper bonding strength to other metal to over lapping. IIRC, its xenon or radon that give the element it's black hue but knocks out 3 primary electrons that gives that titanium it's based properties?
Humongous machine
It happened many times...
Translation: many people lost their heads changing tires...

The day all these machines end up in scrap heaps can't be too soon. Lignite. Smh.
