Injuries to Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie left Wenger few options in attack. The manager chose to use a lone frontman -Adebayor - and play five in midfield so Freddie Ljungberg was drafted in having missed Champions League tie at Hamburg in midweek.
Manchester United made a surprise change. Edwin van der Sar dropped out with illness so Kuszczak came in for his debut. The Pole would have a big part to play in the first half.
Atmosphere, commentary, intensity was something different between 2000-2010. Surely I am not the only one feeling that
Yes, it's really excited when I hear it again
Certainly better than the monotone voices of the female commentators we have to suffer today
Agree but not in respects of the commentary. Over the top and not needed.
@@leedennett3036 ARGGH WOMEN ARE RUINING THE FOOTY
Premier League between 2000 n 2010 was different...the best i've ever seen ....Gerrard, Lampard, Drogba, Ronaldo, Giggs, Torres, Henry, Rooney etc.....Premier League is still the best League today....but its not that interesting....the Shirts, the Atmosphere, the Players in the early 2000s were another Level ..... when i was a kid Manchester United, Arsenal n Chelsea were the top teams .... nobody was interestet in Manchester City .....miss the good old days
This was the first full match of Arsenal that I watched and I was hooked afterwards. I watched Thierry Henry for the first time in the Germany World Cup 2006 score against Brazil and I was like, who does this guy play for. Almost 16 years a Gooner. What a roller coaster it has been since those days.
Coincidentally it was also my first. Apart from Barcelona vs Arsenal UCL finals this was my first
Same! This was the game that made me a lifelong gooner as a 9 year old lad
Tomas Rosicky, what a player.
no doubt he had been something if it weren't for bad luck....
arsenal has always hadplayers with mad skill like carzola, rosicky, hleb and now odegaard
My favorite
Lehmann is so underrated in this club's history
!!!
It went downhill from there sadly. And after that we never had a proper GK until post-prime Cech
yh, Lehmann was so misunderstood
Underrated bore off. You new gen fans use that word all the time.
@@ModinikiLuli-m5n yeesh, pipe down gramps. At least we’re not getting all entitled, and some ‘kids’ here been at the drum for 20+ years..
Fabregas at 19 was something else
Wanted to like the comment but it's perfect at 19. Lol
Fabregas below 23 was amazing, then at chelsea
Young Fabregas torturing Ronalno, Solskjaer in disbelief, Arsenal humiliating Man Utd at Old Trafford... THOSE WERE THE TIMES! 😌
Yeah times when Arsenal didnt win anything and finished 4th. Dont get me wrong that team had its moment and both games against Man United were epic that season but I also wouldnt want to go back in time.
When did Arsenal ever humiliate United at Old Trafford? Didn’t win there once between 2006 and 2020. Only embarrassment I remember was 8-2 😂
3rd actually@@lost1head
@@luqiiiii nope they finished 4th in 2006/07!
@@Bloodclart16 Arsenal won the premiership at Old Trafford; White Hart Lane, Anfield...how sweet is that
We are coming back to these glory days my fellow arsenal brothers and sisters.
Amen brother
These were not glory days for arsenal
united and arsenal games were the most entertaining battles I've seen in the EPL...arguably in the world
Still is.
The game that won my heart as a kid to forever support Arsenal. ❤
Over the years the tackles united got away with is crazy. This was a great win, should have been more. Never forget how Ronaldo was so annoying whole match only to mess up and adebayor getting the winner
Always been dirty cu*ts. Was in the away end at Old Trafford when Rocky got sent off and it all kicked off.
Jens Lehmann was such a good goalkeeper for us at the time. I know he was a bit bonkers occasionally, but that save at the end there, Solsjaker couldn’t believe it.
9:03 one of the most iconic and best saves in PL history
lol no, also made no difference in the league table
@@Xyzfob463 It did increase Fergies Blood pressure though and his money - wages to the ref wasted lol
I like 2:40 better :D
@@headbang3r519 had the referee been in Ferguson's favour, he would've Red carded jens Lehmann for handling the ball and would not have given penalty to Arsenal coz that wasn't a goalscoring opportunity..
Also the referee wouldn't have sent Nani off in the Champions League match against real madrid in 2013, had the referee been favouring Ferguson's team..
"how the fook's he saved that?"... remember this being used in the adverts that year.
Man it weird see these players I grew up watching being all so young. Most of them have retired now.
Fabregas retired today.
that's life man
Yet actors don't retire like Harrison Ford and Tom cruise😂
Lehmann was phenomenal in his prime.
Mad Jens 😃
Madman tbh :P
Nothing can beat the commentary on a Sunday with Martin Tyler and Andy Gray, back in those days.
Goosebumps, eyes welling, just for share love for my team, missing fabs, seeing fabs faint and then the perfect assist sent that defender to the corner flag tunnel where the players come out🤣🤣
WERE BY FAR THE GREATEST TEAM THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN🎵🔴⚪️
shame hes a rat
I remember this game, my first year of high school. God i miss rosicky
the mount of utd bias is just unreal
Its what us gooners had to get used to. What's funny is we've been saying how it is biased yrs ago
without utd bias and without the referees utd won't have won 90% of the trophies they have. they know how to win (even if that means dirty) unt is one of the most corrupt clubs in the world.
that ref was in fergie's pocket lol
They all were
That's why United won these many PL Trophies not by their player's brilliance TBH.
@@sreejithgopakumar8518 If you really think wining 13 PL titles in 26 years was by cheating and not cos of the players and the coach then that perfectly explains why you're and Arsenal fan
That away kit was a thing of BEAUTY! Back when Nike did the best kits. ❤
💥
yes true
That Lehmann save 🔝
These ref were in utd pockets
I want the Manure Arse rivalry back. Biggest and best there is, two giants who never liked each other.
Exactly! The Man City & Liverpool rivalry is only sportingly and friendly compared to the legendary battles between Arsenal and Man Utd which were personal and fiercer.
Its the man city and arsenal rivalry now@@aidygooner
@@luqiiiii most Arsenal fans find Man City annoying because of how they became relevant and them cherry picking our players in the early 2010's but you can't hate an inflated club 😂
but its true@@aidygooner
Maybe I’m remembering wromg but football is so slow now compared to back then.. what a game, shots from everywhere, don’t see shots like ronaldos volly anymore
Yep. Teams are much more optimised now, thanks to the highly structured tactics popularised by Guardiola and, on the other end of the spectrum, Mourinho, but it’s made the game way more boring to watch in my opinion.
@@josephcole8046 Mourinho may be a man of many details but I wouldn't see hes one for slow football. He'd make sure his teams were setup to break fast and efficiently. The way he parked the bus is over blown too, his Chelsea sides were decently attacking in the first spell. halfway through 14/15 I think we were top scorers but the loss at spurs made him shut up shop. Besides the point, but id take the man back in a heartbeat. Back to what you were saying, pep's football is absolutely turgid and I'm stunned anyone disagrees.
@@lorddiegocosta3307 I agree with the park the bus stuff being massively over the top. Also the start of the 14/15 season Chelsea were playing some unbelievable stuff at times with, scoring some excellent goals. The reason I mention Mourinho is because he basically taught a generation of English football how to be difficult to beat by being tactically disciplined - but that was more off the ball, Guardiola has come along and showed the world how to be tactically disciplined while in possession, which, I agree, is pretty dull as it takes so much individual skill and brilliance out of the game.
I am with you on this, the intensity has dropped so much
Your so right its like either ppl dont have the ability to shoot or shooting is just not a thing anymore🤷🏽♂️
Young Cesc, CR7, Rooney, Andy Gray, Premiership...I was there
We outplayed them that day. It's crazy to think we hadn't won a game that season before then! Our season started once we beat United!
Gallas was absolutely brilliant!
So many times we go to OT and we outplay them, only to be screwed by the officials. Poll was so wrong to book Lehmann! The ball was on the line...
Thank god we won, we were struggling before that
Arsenal finished 4th and United won the league though.
Thanks to pendu
Something crazier, we got the double on United that year I mean how ??
@Deadpool1322
Because Arsenal got lucky in both games with all 3 of their goals coming late in this 0-1 win & 2-1 late turnaround at the Emirates.
ManUtd still finished 21 points above them showing how superior ManUtd were. Could've easily been 27 to 33 pts difference (27pts if it was 2 draws or a win & a loss each in head-to-heads, ManUtd didn't deserve a worseH2H record than Arsenal and both games ManUtd could've easily won so that would've been 33pts, let's also not forget ManUtd eased off at the end of the season when the title was already won, still 21pts is massive gap anyway).
@@FootkerSnookball yet man u lost both matches. Don't talk abt could have won.when u win, u win. When no, it's nothing
These were the good ole days football today has gone soft with the injection of money lots of cry babies who aren't even good with qualities nor technical abilities
“Aren’t even good with qualities nor technical abilities” lmaooooo do you hear yourself
Lol that handball decision against Lehman is your paradigm Fergie-era bullshit call.
He didn't even see it. So he guessed
17 years later we did it again!! COYG
That was me at 08:14
Unreal scenes!
A foul on the line = penalty. Keeper grabs the ball on the line, yellow card 🤣
the era of the arsenal hating referees, some of that still exists today
From Lahman to Alumunia as our number 1...I didn't understand
I must be getting old as this only seems like last week to me 😮
As the ol song goes "1 nil to TheArsenal"
Arsenal for life
That ronaldo chop boy became such a thing in school days at lunch and break or wherever we played at any given time #memories
United fan what a save from Lehmann
Sakas goal just like the one vs Switzerland yesterday...🔥
The gk clearly picked the ball on the line
How I wish I could go back to September 17 06
I remember this match.
Two things I noticed, that wasn't a yellow for Lehmann, the ball was on the line. And that wasn't an Arsenal penalty tbh, the goalie got the ball and the player made a meal of it.
The mood was definitely different in the early 200s
Arsenal was and still is a disturbing nightmare for Manchester United ? Arsenal is a great fun club 💀❤
Ill never forget Oli after that save " How the f*ck he save that 😢" 😂
The commentary here just gives it so much more. Why did we come away from proper commentary lie, this and go into loads of ex players ruining games with biased remarks.
Arsenal always played much better pure football than Man United in the 2000s difference is at a certain point was efficiency
At the time I found it strange that in a season where Man U were so dominant domestically flaky Arsenal would do a league double over them. Football, what the hell.
Perhaps you got it all wrong then?
@@Ken-yy9us well, Man U were dominant in Premier League 2006/2007 and Arsenal were hungover from the 2006 Champions League final. Their league forms were very different and this result surprised everyone, perhaps even those associated with Arsenal too. The return fixture where Henry scored the last minute winner against Man U was also surprising as Man U were soaring above everyone else in top spot while Arsenal were barely hanging on to fourth place. Football is crazy sometimes.
@@CYP0 And??????
Ken is desperate to be a part of this convo😂😂😂
@@padzzz9377 No mate, I'm getting nosebleed looking down on United in the PL 😂😂
8:51 what a save😮
Few pple appreciate how Arsenal developed Adebayo to the dangerous player he eventually became. I remember this match Adebayo started because we had no other option. If I'm not wrong it was the first match he started because he was like 4th choice behind van Persie, Henry, Batista.
He lacked basic skills. I remember an incident when van Persie gave him a pass and didn't even bother to open up for the return pass because he knew he wasn't going to get it from clumsy Adebayo. He just stood there shaking his head. Arsenal indeed has a history of turning average players into monsters.
Леманн взял мяч на линии
Вот это были по истинне настоящие противостояния,бились на "смерть"!!!
The ref in those days were working for Fergie.
Cesc is an Arsenal legend
That joined Chelsea 😂
For sure💥
The Lehmann picking the ball up incident is a clear example of a referee giving something that he has not seen.
Next season the greatest Premiership rivalry is back!!!!
and fans try to compare Ozil to Cesc, please behave.
Calm down man ozil was also class had 81 assist in 3 seasons and only Messi and Henry had more assist than him in a calendar year not even the great xavi or iniesta have ozil stats
Cesc ate cr7 in this game
A very young n talented Fabregas
what a pass by fabregas
The time when I never missed a single match of man UTD.
Lehmann was beast
8:18 where is my penalty???
I watched this match full 90 minutes GUNNERS for life
Never liked how he left us but Adebayor was a darn good target man for us. Never seen such a slender and tall person be so good at his feet
How old are you bruuhh
Did you know that people used to say that Adebayor is the next Kanu for a great reason
@@PribumiNusantara45 heard of it but never seen Kanu play. When I started watching football, Kanu was at West Brom so past his peak I guess
Oga Ferdinand ,how market then
Is that harry kane in arsenal kids kit?
Why Gilberto Silva take penalty? 😅
Look at this Man Utd squad. No crazy hairstyles, no prison tattoos, selfish arrogant behavior. Just pure soldiers.
especially the ref, utd motm as always
This got to be racism
PRISON TATTOOS LOL
And no points...
Yes like Ronaldo. That famously unpretentious player.
Indeed!
The great Jens Lehmann

Fab ❤️
Man of The Match is Lehmann.
VAR would have ruined this goal saying Foul on Ronaldo 🤣🤣🤣 Bet?
Why the ref not send man u goalkeeper
What a match!!!
Arsenal finished 21 points behind Utd that season.
We had an awful season but one of the highlights was doing the double over Man U
Underwhelming, not awful I would say.

Фабрегас был конечно нереально хорош
Baptista was good in Arsenal. Why he don't stay in Arsenal?
So remember
rosicky is great eventhough he is made of glass

who is the commentator, i feel game more excited
So weird to see Gallas wearing the no10
Cristiano mistake that led to the goal 😂
Just another typical game where it's arsenal vs referee... and yet... its still the same.
Aaaah…Adebayor😞
What is the name of the co-commentator? I missed this old days
Andy Gray
He got sacked for abusing a female lines person when he thought he was off mic. Big scandal
@@essbeenz it was banter. and she was awful

I wonder what’s the procentage of Ronaldo’s freekicks hitting the target, nevermind scoring. It must be 0,000 something😅
Yeah I never understood this weird impression that he's some hot shit freekick taker. He scored one worldie from a free kick and all of a sudden he's a free kick expert, in spite probably blasting 99% of them over lol.
@@garrycotton7094 I’m not United supporter so I could be wrong as I haven’t watched too many of their games, but it would be fun to know.
The only 2 I remember from his time at United are the ones vs Pompeys and Porto(both were great) and that’s it, but having watched lot of highlights from the old games he played, he either hits the wall or blasts it to the stands, just like he did in this game.
@@padzzz9377 The goal vs Porto was not a freekick, it was a shot in open play from like 40 yards. Some memorable freekicks from Ronaldo's time at United include vs Sporting Lisbon and Arsenal in the Champions League and vs Portsmouth (twice, one in 2006-07 and then again in 2007-08), vs Fulham and vs Sunderland in the Premier League.
When have United not been a transitional side?
