- The first step in building a guitar from a set of templates should always be to make a copy of the templates. This way you can work from the copies and keep the originals safe from damage. Making a copy is quite easy and well worth the time it takes to make the copy.

Great stuff! Something I always do with MDF templates is to paint the edges with 50% Titebond, 50% water. I let it dry somewhere warm, and that keeps seasonal moisture changes from spreading the edges of your nice template sets.
That's a great tip. I need to try this. 👍🤘🎸
100% agree, I learned this the hard way lol. I also second the recommendation for Mike @ potvin guitars. His templates and customer experience are amazing!
I too learned the hard way. After you ruin a template you never again work off the original. Lol.
Great video. And I use Mike Potvin also, for my templates. Great guy.
Awesome! Hes super cool to work with.
I should have listened to you. Lol now I will. I jacked up two templates before I laid my stubborn self to the side.
Oh no, I've been there. Sorry that happened.
Sound techniques for duplicating. Definitely the centerline is most important.
Agreed!
I find a wide tipped Magic Markers works best vs a pencil. Then cut to outside of mark, rout the rest
Thats a good idea. I'll try that out. Thanks for sharing that.
How would we contact you about a bass build?
Sensible stuff!
Thanks. It an important step when using templates. 👍
