Suicide stems from Identity issues. Kpop beats the identity out of its members and assigns them new names, faces, hair color, and personalities. The real Identity is suppressed by their projected image/persona and public expectations. When a person is un-centered, they are easily "tipped over" by accusations and criticism(real or imagined). The dangers of "being famous" is loosing yourself while trying to get there.
This is sad, it just shows that when we are under overwhelming stress n pressure to do or be our best, we can't see the people who would love us n will be there for us no matter what, we forget that our close family n friends do actually miss us feel pain if something happens to us
I Agree I have been a fan of koop since 2009 but I realize over the years that unlike American artists who are always giving us their true personality. Idols are a lot different because of the korean society and their companies controlling their personality and body image. I even notice now that the international fans of today have even become very obsessively possessive like korean fans which doesn't help the situation.
Glad to see someone taking a more granular approach to understanding this instead of just blanket blaming companies, fans and bullying which just means nothing will change. This explanation also accounts for individual responsibility on idols parts too...without idols there's no kpop and fans fail to realise when they spend in support of a group or person they are endorsing the system like a friend who pays a drug dealer to keep pumping dangerous drugs into their other friend. Granted kpop wouldn't have the allure without the manufactured aspect but certainly idols don't seem to be aware of this phenomenon which is not much different to actors who have to get therapy after acting roles to stay sane.
sparkyxsora Yes that’s true. Someone: Depressed. People: Omg, stop being such a crybaby. Like, grow up.. 🙄 Someone: Commits suicide. People: nOoo!! I aM sO sOrRy!!! 😭😳😱 I rEaLLy miSs yOu!!! oMg!!
What concerns me is that people have learnt *nothing* after all these deaths, they still hate on people, people much better than them, and they think that they won’t see those comments and be hurt.
Debts, debts, debts. Not bullying, not men rights or women rights, not pressure, not bad comment. Sure they contribute to it but the main cause is their inability to pay back. One flop in their career and it is over. The interest just keep piling up. All the fun in colored glittered clothing, classes and schooling, promotions, travelling and music videos. Now they have to pay back. Every time they put something in their mouth, every time they refused to laugh and take selfies with their creepy fans, every time the spend something they do not own. They have to pay back, every single one of them. Welcome to Korea.
In India this happens a lot , not with Idols but with normal people because of study, family pressure,etc,etc...I mean in aisa depression is no joke, well not only in Asia depression is not joke in any of the country over the world..
Its because asias standards in studies, looks and every tiny thing is too high and when people wonder why many asians commit suicide they do not realise that we were moslt left to cope with things alone as a child
@@jhansiy691 actually that's not true. India's population is 1.3 billion out of 6-7 billion world population so even if the percentage of people committing suicide is low the number of people is really high.
Same.. That's what my heart says! People in greed of money are mentally, personally and socially constricted into a 'tumor'. Even if they gain money, the greed does not stop, Ultimately this 'tumor' overcomes them, and ruins their personality
Sulli is definitely the #1 kpop star that is abused online. (yup even after her death she still is harassed) She is my favourite member of f(x) and one of my favourite people, I cried for months after her death and still continue to from time to time
I feel bad for k-pop stars, they aren't free. People are obsessed with them and think they are able to relate to them... but what lies on the inside is something you will never relate to.
Normal fans would support there idols no matter what but the reason the arnt free is because of the sasaeng fans that follow them everywhere and get jealous if they are in relationships

This isn’t just in Asia either, it’s everywhere. Jessy from Little Mix was constantly harassed and abused online about “looking fat” after she went on X factor. She said she fell into a severe severe depression and even tried to take her own life because of this. The internet’s just so toxic (some people are nice on there).
That reason causes me to support the idols and feel sympathy for them, you know? I'm not an absolutely sick in the head saesang, I support them more like...idk...a distant...friend..
You know, most music industries are almost just as bad. Your don't have a higher moral ground for not liking K-pop. I don't like it too but it doesn't necessarily mean I'm a better person.
Geraldi Gosal kpop is music, if you feel uncomfortable with it it’s okay to not get involved with it, but I’m just trying to say like you don’t have to care about the toxicity just care about the idols whom you support
@@karinnamerino7232 sensitive isn't really a degrading term, but it is misleading because it has 2 meanings, it can mean one with lots of empathy or someone relatively easier to get their feelings hurt. But there's no universal threshold for when a person is considered sensitive.
@@karinnamerino7232 sensitive is a degrading word? People who are kind hearted are always vulnerable as well...it is a psychological state when feel hurt towards such harsh words used for them, be it whether these words are true or not, no one has the right to tell anyone if they have some flaws and make fun of it or anything. Artists are more sensitive than others.
Also some boys who bully girls they like, then the girl will get depression. A boy threw tomatoes at me. A week later he apologized and said it was to impress me. As if that will impress me... 😑 Edit: Of course not all boys are jerks, but those who are, learn to respect females.
yeah well that's how it works. the more idols, the more competition, the more stress, the more the company controls their every action, leading to the big s word. it breaks my heart how extreme it is.

Can we plz not bring up god/allah to this subject, even religious ppl commit suïcide, dont be the ppl who thingk religion can cure and prevent everything”like depression”
I can understand they are trying to help, but it just does not have any real meaning, God should have prevented bad things to their followers. so it is just trivializing the issues here, I just feel sad
I hope BTS doesn’t do this too Edit: thx for the likes Another edit: When did I ever say that I only cared about BTS? I didn’t wish for your favorite kpop idols to commit, I just didn’t list them. Do you actually want me to list every single kpop idols name, ever? It’s been a full year since I posted this. Calm. Down.
It's not just about Kpop Idols, guys there are normal people like our siblings or classmates that suffer from depression and are thinking about killing themselves. It's not just celebreties. We are all infected and I hate media for always just coming up with that topic when someone who is famous commited suicide. Not only famous people are important but also you and me.
Jonghyun was hopeless from a young age..nothing has changed and being an idol made it worse. He started questioning everything long before he commited suicide..he was isolated from a young age. His father was probably manipulative and strict.I fully understand how that feels and anove that they lived in poverty.. I think music eased the pain for him.yet constantly being in the spotlight is overwhelming and stressful. I cannot blame him. I can only say that he did well and deserve the best. He was a very strong person He faught untill he couldnt anymore. The days he spend awake.sleepless.hopeless. no signs of help even when he's screaming out just for a shoulder or a hand to guide him. Lets not even talk about his therapist.. I whish he could just live a normal life or get the support he deserved..
That should've been the first thing in mind. And a lot of these companies treat their idols like trap and it makes you feel kinda bad for their rookies following after them. If they only knew how bad things went with their seniors, they'd probably have second thoughts on which company to join, or just don't become an idol for their own sakes
No One I don't think that's the main cause I see they still renew their contract after being in company in years. The main cause is the culture. They don't take serously about mental health, if you said having a problem with your physichological, people will look down on you.
Goo Hara got bullied by conservative men after her boyfriend leaked private information and after she tried to commit suicide earlier this year they made fun of it, Sulli and her were best friends and after sulli died from bullying from men as well she was seen showing unstable behaviour and it was showing before her suicide. Jonghyun suffered frkm depression and was close friends with sulli and after he died she was treated badly as well because I believe she didn't attend his funeral but the thing is sulli left their comoany before so MOST likely she didn't get an invite
I don’t even know most of these kpop stars but every time I hear “suicide” or someone talks about suicide...something in my heart pierces me and it’s just so heartbreaking, people taking their lives because of not being able to say how they feel or being able to live freely...it’s so scary and absolutely heartbreaking...NOBODY NOBODY DESERVES TO FEEL LIKE THAT whether it’s a celebrity or a common man
Why? theyre chasing a dream that isnt healthy for them physically or mentally considering the industry in their countries and how its run. You should pity them for being so short sighted and egotistical to believe that becoming a famous artist would make then happy. they asked for that life, they get everything including the stress that comes with it. No one has a gun to their head saying "you have to be a singer". It's unfortunate that these people have died but it's well known at this point that becoming a superstar is not good for your physical health or mental well-being as most of them die early or have it end up destroying their lives for one reason or another. I blame the modern culture in these Asian countries for putting so much pressure on the Youth of today if you told me right now that 95% of Asian school children have attempted suicide it would not surprise me at all the pressure they put on those kids is unbelievable no wonder most of them never seem to develop much of a social based personality or identity they never have the drive desire or option 2 while growing up So once they're in college it's not like they're going to start becoming a totally different unique person at that age its to late. Their parents brainwash them into perfect little doctors and scientists..not individuals, thats why us whites joke that they all look alike. Because theyre all raised identically and have no personality, its like their actual robots. Thats how they act and talk, theyre raised so afraid their going to upset their parents that it socially and emotionally inhibits them for the rest of their lives it seems.. thsyre more concerned with pleasing theyre dying 70-90 year old parents then they are with having their own life and human experience that doesnt involve playing piano and having a finacially stable life due to a job they were forced into training for due to guilt from theyre family. All cultures have their problems but with Asians their problems are very very obvious to everybody
Some people here are making comments on this sensitive issue ....preaching others "about turning to their lord or worshiping God"; surely, they might have positive intention. But it's time we stop being judgmental and break the stereotype that only people with weak faith or atheists get depression or any kind of mental illness because having depression is not a punishment from God and it has lots of other causes and contributing factors; and anyone could go through this phase in their lives.....regardless of their personal believes. And start treating mental health like any other physical problem that we face. Passing judgment about people with any kind of mental illness or depression is nothing more than just being ignorant and insensitive. I am also suffering from depression and really going through a tough phase of my life - I am also a believer and consider myself a religious person- and that doesn't mean that Ii have turned away from God or being punished! Love and prayers for all the people that are survivors like me🙏🙏🙏And please be sensitive towards problems like this and consider about what others might have gone through to reach at such phase of their lives !

The amounts of suicides in Asia are absolutely ridiculous. It's not just the K-stars. Students, even random people online are taking their lives away. This is getting out of hand and it should not be joked about. No one ever learns ANYTHING. No matter who dies. We still continue to hate, discriminate, bully, etc. It needs to STOP. Amusis Shut up? Shut up?! The comment was right. Keep it inside. Idols have to do deal with daily harassment and even death threats. I don’t know how you would feel if people kept bashing you for being yourself. My God.
I'd like to remind everyone to be respectful of those who have passed away and their families. I see a lot of ignorance and comments of unrelated topics in the comments. It doesn't matter what background, ethnicity, nationality or religion you have. If one is prone to mental illness, they'll get it. People who suffer from depression, anxiety and other related illnesses need a lot of time to rest, to just BE and do things which might help to get them back on track. They need SPECIAL and REAL help, from REAL specialists, who truly care for other people and want to help them. Unfortunately all around the world, in best case you get prescribed with pills. The stress and pressure these poor, sweet souls went through without time to heal is inhumane. On top of it, to live in such a judgemental society where one always has to be perfect to the eyes of others... So toxic! So please stop mentioning religions in here. If you truly are religious, you should know that we humans have no right to judge. Who are YOU to judge? That's right. Just another person walking this planet. Therefore your comments are irrelevant. I know people of various backgrounds and religions who suffer from mental illnesses. So keep that to yourselves. ~ For once again, rest in peace sweet souls and lots of light to your near ones. ~

Actually all entertainment industries and their artist suffer too. And it's not just the kpop industry treating it's artists like that. It's also the amount of haters they've got and also so many death threats for being too "feminine" or whatever reason tbh. Do you even know how hard Kpop idols need to work to get everything perfect? Depression is not a joke, I do have it myself so I excatly know that this is not a joke.2:00 No not all idols
People who are bringing islam in this, islam doesn't teach us to be like this, they suffered from enormous depression and mental illness that they didn't find a cure for, they suffered because of all the hate and pressure they got because of false fake rumours, that's why you should always mind your own business and never pass rumours or things that you know will harm others, jonghyun supported palestine openly and was even attached for it also after he passed away his fans raised money for palestine so respect his memory, same with the other idols in this video Islam says to only talk good about the dead and respect them, it's a sin to talk badly or try to use their death as an opportunity to share whatever you believe in, I'm a Muslim and it's honestly annoying how people say "oh maybe if they became a Muslim" "oh maybe if they didn't sing" ect well islam isn't the solution to depression, yes the Qur'an helps many people to ease their pain and have hope, but those people didn't know much about islam and probably never heard of the Qur'an, they were openly bullied and harassed for no reason, so after putting up with it for many years they did what they did because they just have had enough allah yerhamum
@Musti 0 yes islam and Qur'an is a way of healing to most muslims but as long as they also visit a doctor, without a doctor they can't heal themselves completely, but how do you know that they did anything wrong? How do you call them kufar? You can't and you're not allowed to call anyone kafir! Only god determines that, god also said the Qur'an is for the believers not just muslims, the believers are those who are Christians, jews and those who believe in similarly teachings to Islam, for example in you go back in history to palestine, iraq, syria and Lebanon, muslims were able to control that area because they came as a believer movement that included and respected the people who aren't muslims an gave them full rights not as muslim movement that favoured muslims! In korea people aren't educated about islam or muslims and that's due to the culture in korea being isolated from the rest of the world, koreans in general aren't very open and they're strictly about their culture so it's only natural for them to not be exposed to islam or other religions until recently, but those celebrities probably didn't even know anything about islam other than the basics like some women wear hijab, they fast and their prophet is Mohamed, ( i went there to study so i know how the culture there is) so they cannot be judged by god for things they didn't know about, and that's why islam is fair and good to everyone ! After all only god knows how much they suffered, their faith and their fate no one else can know or judge
@Musti 0 the social media in korea is way different than the world they use a browser called navar that's just in korean and only koreans use it so the information is very limited, and unfortunately the news that is reported in korean media it's source is the western media so they get misinformed, but they're opening up sine alot of Muslim students study there now and many koreans are getting interested in the arabic language

@@aninani8294 pretty sure they will have unbiased people monitoring the comments, or people who can objectively interpret things, without hindering any freedom of speech. In any case, even mere ''jokes'' can easily cross the line and become direct insults or harassment, and anyone with common sense can tell them apart from ''innocent jokes''. Remember we can never know what will emotionally hurt another person, or what others are insecure about in themselves, especially idols who can't express such things in public and always appear confident. Sirat al-Mustaqim I agree and it is not just in the Kpop industry, but I have seen it in the HK entertainment world too. There was this one Andy Lau fan who worshipped him to he point of craziness that her parents sold their house just to have money for her to attend his fan meeting/concert. They asked for Andy to meet with her privately but was refused so her dad committed suicide. How crazy is that??? People just have psychological problems that need to be dealt with.

The problem with Korean netizens is that not only they attack the stars, they also turned to their family members and continue to write malicious comments. It's so toxic. And all of the three stars in this video started their career at a young age of 14-17, the time when we learn about life in a slow way, protected by our parents, our only pressure was probably school. But these stars had to learn to cope with entertainment pressure since young and in my opinion not properly taught on how to cope with stress. Starting a career at a young age predispose them to constantly being anxious. They have contained this stress within themselves for way too long and not knowing how to deal with it. By the time they get a professional help, most of the time it was too late. All three of them had seek professional help and has many times showing warning signs but in Korea, these warning signs were seen as 'attention seekers'.
Its easy people are insecure to the point that they don't realize that words do.matter they don't realize how much.power they have I mean they are willing to take responsibility for the deaths of people they don't know. Isn't that sad.
@sun flower The Holy Bible says, in John 3:31-35: He that comes from above is above all. He that is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He that comes from heaven is above all. And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies and no man receives his testimony. He that has received His testimony has set to His seal that God is true, for He whom God has sent speaks the word of God, for God gives not the Spirit by measure unto Him. The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 5:27And has given Him authority to execute judgment also because He is the Son of Man. 5:36- But I have greater witness than that of John, for the works which the Father has given Me(Jesus Christ) to finish the same works that I do, bear witness of Me (Jesus Christ), that the Father has sent Me. 6:39- And this is the Father's will which has sent Me (Jesus Christ), that of all (redeemed/believers) which He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise up again at the last day. Jesus Christ loves us all and dies for all of us. He is the WORD of God John 1:1-In the beginning was the WORD and the WORD was with God and the WORD was God. Read the gospel of John and you will come to know who Jesus Christ is. He is a loving, compassionate and long-suffering, full of mercy God. God bless you Mam.

His father was probably manipulative and strict.I fully understand how that feels and anove that they lived in poverty..
I think music eased the pain for him.yet constantly being in the spotlight is overwhelming and stressful.
I cannot blame him. I can only say that he did well and deserve the best.
He was a very strong person
He faught untill he couldnt anymore.

Lets not even talk about his therapist..

That happen when u try to stop after signed "slave contract"
That should've been the first thing in mind. And a lot of these companies treat their idols like trap and it makes you feel kinda bad for their rookies following after them. If they only knew how bad things went with their seniors, they'd probably have second thoughts on which company to join, or just don't become an idol for their own sakes
It won't. Sulli committed suicide because of the constant hate she was getting because of the fans, the immature and conservative fans.
No One I don't think that's the main cause I see they still renew their contract after being in company in years. The main cause is the culture. They don't take serously about mental health, if you said having a problem with your physichological, people will look down on you.
She changed her company before dying

People who are bringing islam in this, islam doesn't teach us to be like this, they suffered from enormous depression and mental illness that they didn't find a cure for, they suffered because of all the hate and pressure they got because of false fake rumours, that's why you should always mind your own business and never pass rumours or things that you know will harm others, jonghyun supported palestine openly and was even attached for it also after he passed away his fans raised money for palestine
so respect his memory, same with the other idols in this video
Islam says to only talk good about the dead and respect them, it's a sin to talk badly or try to use their death as an opportunity to share whatever you believe in, I'm a Muslim and it's honestly annoying how people say "oh maybe if they became a Muslim" "oh maybe if they didn't sing" ect well islam isn't the solution to depression, yes the Qur'an helps many people to ease their pain and have hope, but those people didn't know much about islam and probably never heard of the Qur'an, they were openly bullied and harassed for no reason, so after putting up with it for many years they did what they did because they just have had enough
allah yerhamum

The fact that this has been going on for years and the country has yet to do something about it. These agencies need to be held accountable no doubt about it. They’re are the main reason why the bullying and the pressure consumes their artists. They are human at the end of the day. Wake up South Korea! Do better and take care of your people!
Online bullying must be declared illegal with strict punishment.
yes, and people have finally started taking actions, in fact recently the most popular korean search engines have disabled all comments sections and all comments are going to be monitored and checked before they're published under the articles. Such as an easy solution that could've made their mental health a bit better, and yet it took this long to put it in action...
So it's always better to keep unnecessary remarks to ourselves when it comes to someone's physical characteristics
Discipline. Good manners start from home.
if it stays on the net and doesnt leak to real life then its all fair games

Please stop hate comments ,for blackpink, please stop commenting inhuman things to jennie, It's just a request, they already had suffered a lot
I miss Jonghyun so muchhh😭😭😭
Because of their depression
i’m praying for jennie from blackpink to stay strong....
also rest in piece to everyone who died from society you deserved better :(
Those who bring up religions and gods tend to forget that religious extremism and other problems also exist in their country. Every society and every single country has its own unique problem. One pill of god won't save it. Try to understand instead of preaching useless words
that doesnt justify the suicîdes either, genius
Sulli’s Law deserves to be put out
Hara, Sulli and jonghyun will be missed and they are in a better place Rip our precious Angels 😇😇😇😇 and now I am heartbroken 😔
No matter what’s going on in your life . Taking your life won’t solve anything . You just have to lay low and get help talk abt your feelings no matter how hard it is and things will get batter slowly. Silence will slowly eat you away shaidan is real get help please if your in this situation
Ok boomer
That’s what I think, no matter how bad I feel taking ur own life isn’t going to solve anything and always thing about the people around u
No, false. Taking your own life can solve everything you're suffering from. It's the truth though it's sad. But the burden can fall on your parents or any loved ones, that might be a challenging thought.
Being a Idol is the hardest job ever
@Migfra Danmark ikr why is it called "idols" just making them seem like some kinda god we have to follow weird and then they work according to this label
Migfra Danmark kpop, jpop, cpop, etc singers are called idols, its not what you thought
@@marionicolasmartin not all jpop or cpop singers r idols... U need to correct ur info
I know the pain. I know it bro
Man, if this was the situation in India, then the people who were accused of putting the idols on the verge of suicide, would be suffering trials in court.
Recently, a gem actor of India committed suicide and his fans have filed a case for him against the people who bullied and boycotted him

The K-pop industry is the worst music industry imo. The stan community is worse.
Other people out there. You don’t see us hating on your fav artists, that doesn’t give you the right to hate on ours
Nah just hate idol worshipping. So mainstream industry is what I hate in general whether it be Kpop or Hellywood (yes, I did that on purpose) since such industries promote evil one way or another (materialism, selling their souls, sex sells, ect.)
@@bmona7550 did every group sell their soul? I think some did but I hope not.(Kpop groups)

Looks like a trend. He wants to join his friends. They think that they will see each other in the other world.
@Priyanka Gupta asians have to bear much stress. The Kpop Guys have to sign ^^Slavery Contracts^^,they can‘t be themself anymore and have to ^^play^^ another role.Bullying is a reason too.I don‘t understand why they dont go to the doctor.
Omg why are all of them the same age 27! Is this some trend going on there??
@Aena Mustafa It seems to be a new trend
I hope 2020 didn't bring more deaths !
This is real problem in Korea. Why can’t this world be a peaceful place? All I can say is please stop being hateful, please respect people even if you don’t like them. Respect can change the whole perspective positively. Spread Love.
All three of them had seek professional help and has many times showing warning signs but in Korea, these warning signs were seen as 'attention seekers'.
they don’t just write malicious comments, they actually try to KILL the stars, putting poison in their drinks
@Dom.seriously!!! Is this true?
Thats crazy omg😲
Its easy people are insecure to the point that they don't realize that words do.matter they don't realize how much.power they have I mean they are willing to take responsibility for the deaths of people they don't know. Isn't that sad.
K pop is sad and depressing and speaks volumes about the values of the population in Korea
I almost cried man I can’t believe that Goo Hara is actually gone still 😭😭❤️
same😭,since she was my queen, even now I still can't believe she was gone💔😭
Me too
Sad times comes and goes but ending your life is a big deal you will never get that life back....
Ed Sheeran once said, "Key to failure is trying to please everyone".
The point is to be yourself. Don't change it, but embrace it.

I will forever love you jonghyun
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
MERCY AND GRACE 🙏 🕊️💯
@sun flower true.

IU made a song dedicated to her 3 friends mentionned in this video : Jonghyun, Sulli, and Hara , the title of the song is "eight" .
We should all remember that idols are humans after all ,so don't hate on them please .
They already have enough pressure from the company they are working for .
Just delete your account and create a new one without anyone knowing you, travel to somewhere in Africa and sleep for two days. This helped me a lot
