Great video. You gotta watch some of these companies. They will get you hooked and then when they get your money to them you are a nobody. I had the same thing happen to me and that’s been probably thirty years ago or longer. I won’t go back if they are fifty percent cheaper than the other guy lol. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. Regardless of brand, dealer service and support makes the difference. You don’t forget when a dealer screws you over, and you remember the good ones and stick with them. I’m amazed so many bad dealerships can’t comprehend this.
Cat may be more expensive but you get what you pay for. Their parts are available way faster than most, their service is usually on it. Stuff breaks period, brand new old doesnt matter. But the service and parts availability after the purchase are the biggest thing. Im not saying they dont have issues or bad dealers ,but we havenr run into it yet.
I’m going through the same thing. My Takeuchi tb260 is hard to get parts and when I do get the correct parts the dealer wants more than cat does. My cat dealer has been nothing but amazing and I’m gonna buy a 306 even though they have more bells and whistles than I need
My uncle ran a Cat dealership for many years. Product support and parts are the big things they take seriously. Some brands are just not supported with that level of detail.
@@DirtAndRocks Sometimes brands. We run a lot of Komatsu wheel loaders at work in a 24/7 mill environment. We have trouble getting the right parts and getting them quickly. The dealer is great but they just don't have that great of a supply system. We have several Cat Dozers and can get anything for them. To me it seems if you are running anything other than Cat don't keep it to long and you will avoid needing as much parts support. As other have said it all depends on the support your local dealer provides. I owned a 60 model JD 440 crawler as a farm machine. As old as it was I could still get any common wear part like steering clutches, bearings and seals with in 3 days shipped to the house.
@@carlwilliams1570 interesting. I really appreciate the perspective. It makes me think about all those "I bought the cheapest excavator I could find" videos that pop in my feed. I always ask myself...where are you going to get parts for that?
I don't care how good or what brand it is the service after the sale is what makes a good customer service or unfortunately bad customer service they new to take care of the little business man the same way they do the multi million dollar companies. Great video stay safe. This is my first time watching your videos.
Sorry about your Takeuchi. I find my Takeuchi to be awesome machines. I been in business for 45 years and I absolutely hate cat. Long story but we used to have nothing but cats. No more.
Your equipment is as good as the dealer you get it from. Different regions of the country have dealers that suck and excel, selling all brands. Where Im located the idea of sending a tak to the yellow guys would have people giving you funny looks.
Hey, no matter what brand of machine you buy whether its Cat, Deer, Case, Bobcat etc machines are gonna break their man-made anything can happen OK but can they get it and get it fixed get it turned around in a good amount of time so you can be back up again working that’s all that matters. Evidently this dealership did him right I’m in Southeast Virginia and I had a Bobcat 763 and for 15 years over the time not a lot broke, but a little bit broke and they took care of it but also Bobcat of Tidewater I’d call up the service department and said I was having this problem. He told me how to fix it ended up constantly. It was a cracked fuel pick up hose, it had a crack in it overtime that’s what it happens. OK a tow to get it back to the dealership up to a week to get it fixed and a bill of $500- $600. I’m guessing it cost me $1.65 and about an hours worth of time he told me how to fix it. It was a pain in the butt and then less than two hours. I was back up and running.
I have been pretty fortunate thus far. All of them are expensive these days, and I haven't experienced Cat being particularly worse than Kubota or anyone else. JD has their own problems from what I have been reading. That's going to get rough I imagine.

yeah, it's funny how deep of a mark that leaves. I have places that are the same way for me. Thanks for watching!
Ur right
I’m actually in my fourth Takeuchi and absolutely love it, I’ve tested all the others but the FR feature is really what keeps me in the Takeuchi
its a great machine, I really like mine

yeah that's true, and it spills over to almost any type of customer service interaction
Videos like this is what sets you apart from everyone else !!!
Much appreciated!

I agree. Parts and service are a huge deal, it makes a big difference.
When I was trying to rebuild my ancient D7, my local Cat dealer (Whayne Supply) treated me like a king. Can’t say enough good things about them.
I had the same experience when my local Cat dealer did my 1992 D3C last year.

I rented a 306 for a month a while back. it was a nice machine. I really liked it.
Cat dealer in Bloomington Indiana is the best of the best.

Do you think it is a brand issue, or more of a local issue inside a given dealership? Just curious

Appreciate the comment!
I got a Doosan because of the dealer support in Cleveland.
Sweet, how do you like it?
@DirtAndRocks it's my second one and I do like it.
Ordering parts from a competitor company probably has a loss in translation too !!!

Nothing to be sorry about, turned out good in the end. Just a strange path to get there. I like the 285, and have no plans to get rid of it.

@ yeah Sean at Bobcat of Tidewater what a great guy and knowledgeable about all the machines especially the non-computerized ones
End results are what really matter !!!
for sure!
If cat was building their machines here, they wouldn’t have the parts problem.
yeah, but I don't really think any of them are immune to that these days. Unfortunate, but just the world we live in.
CAT doesn't sell Takeuchi parts. They were getting them from another dealer.
@@jasonsayre8102 I thought it was a cat. My mistake
