The perfect example of Kate's beauty, class, and grace. Kate has always emphasized and epitomized sensuality over sexuality (she has talked about the difference in several interviews). Here in this video Kate is dressed nearly head to toe, but still exudes more sensuality than most of the twerking, trashy, near-naked female "singers" of today -- and the only clothes Kate took off was her hat!!

I would love to know what you think of one of the very rare covers that Kate has recorded. Check out her version of Elton John's "Rocket Man."

A great track on this album to check would be Rocket's Tail. Another would be Love And Anger.

Glad you enjoyed this song, it's definitely one of Kate's best. It has an esoteric literary origin story of course, this being Kate Bush, but the important thing to get is that she is a woman emerging from the pages of a novel into this sensual world and enjoying all the feelings it has to offer, but this woman, Molly Bloom is her name, knows that some pleasures are there to be savoured first and she knows how to savour them, she is a Sensual Woman after all, "And his spark took life in my hands... mmm, yes... I say, mmm, yes... but not yet..."
There was a lot of pressure on Kate for this, having to follow the Hounds of Love album wasn't easy, and she made us wait 4 years for this one (something we had to get used to later in her career, Kate Bush moves at her own pace) but we shouldn't have worried, she delivered another astonishing album, moving forward but still being distinctively Kate. You should check out some of the album tracks, Kate collaborated a lot on this album with the Trio Bulgarka, a trio of Bulgarian women who sing like Bulgarian angels, it's an absolutely heavenly musical form, see here ua-cam.com/video/NA4mOz-wqtY/v-deo.html (I bought a couple of Bulgarian folk albums off the back of it)
You know, I don't think I had noticed the connection you saw between the Wuthering Heights and Sensual World videos before, but I see it, the rural scene, the maturing of the colour palette, the wild-arm dancing and all, nice...

The instruments are Celtic though the melody those instruments play in the chorus is a Macedonian folk song. A fun mashup! She initially wanted to use words from the final chapter of the book Ulysses by James Joyce but his estate refused so she wrote similar words instead. In 2011 she rerecorded this song but with the words by Joyce she originally wanted, that version is called Flower of the Mountain

This song's ryhtm acts as the intro to the album. Listen to track 2, Love and Anger. After that, track 3, the atmospheric The Fog.

So glad you decided to react to this. It's gorgeous; inspired by James Joyce's novel 'Ulysses'.

After eventually obtaining permission to use the soliloquy at the end of the Ulysses, Kate re-recorded the song with the words of Molly Bloom for her 2011 album Director's Cut. She re-titled the new version, "Flower of the Mountain."

Mate, loving your reactions. If you stick with Kate, you’ve got so much more to come. So much more. And when you run out of the singles that they made videos for you’ve got all the album tracks which, arguably- are even better! And I know I keep banging on about it but you have to do Delius - that’s one non-single that there is a video for. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reaction to that. You’d be the first! Otherwise, crack on with Sat in Your Lap, Wow, Army Dreamers, Suspended in Gaffa, etc

This time you got it first time. No overthinking and just getting the groove.
Try the live version of Don't push your foot on the heartbrake. She moves really well on that

I always love to see a good Kate Bush journey on UA-cam! Enjoying your thoughts and reactions so far, so keep it up!. Would love to see Rubberband Girl for some 90's pop flavour and Moments of Pleasure. Hammer Horror is often overlooked, but is also pretty great with an awesome video.

Beautiful and one of my fav Kate Bush songs - especially as I'm Irish and she is paying homage to her Irish heritage. It's from the late 1980s and I love the Celtic additions to her music. I believe she was reciting Ulysses during that song which is classic Irish literature. A lot of her movements came from the late great mime artist Lindsey Kemp. She's wonderful. Great review and great instant interpretation of her music.

Summary of this song: "Mmh, yes!" (from Molly Bloom of James Joyce's "Ulysses")

    Good stuff 🔥
I recall reading that "The Sensual World" (1989) was inspired by Kate hearing a reading of the final chapter of James Joyce's novel "Ulysses" (1922).
The name of the final chapter is "Molly Bloom's Soliloquy."
The character of Molly Bloom is a reputed opera singer and the unfaithful wife to the main character Leopold Bloom. In Molly's monologue, she describes her earliest experience with her then soon-to-be husband, Leopold.
Originally, Kate wanted the rights to use the soliloquy for her song but at the time was denied by The Joyce Estate.
Instead of outright using the work, Kate fashioned the wording(s) of the reverie into a Molly Brown-like character coming "off the page" of the printed word/action of a book/novel and into the world of the senses; touching, seeing, and smelling things/colors, having feelings/emotions, etc.
A song/music video I must add to your Kate Bush suggestions is "Moments of Pleasure" (1993).
This is off Kate's "The Red Shoes Album." This song is one of Kate's most personal compositions that is her tribute to all the friends and family that have passed away but are kept alive within her from all the fond and wonderful memories they shared. It is a bittersweet and ultimately beautiful piece of music; the music video also complements the emotions and the tone that Kate brings to this work. Sidenote: This track is in my personal Top-5 Kate Bush songs

Loving your Kate videos! As a guitarist, I'd highly recommend "Rocket's Tail" from The Sensual World album. One of her best ever tracks in my opinion, and one of her most surprising. It wasn't a single, so there's no video for it, but I think you would really enjoy it.
