Alabama's Highpoint: Cheaha Mountain (35th Highest)

A nighttime and early morning adventure to Cheaha Mountain, the highest point in Alabama, in Cheaha State Park. Experience the night walk as I try to puzzle out the actual natural highpoint and the foggy morning as I revisit the site with my family in tow.
PARKING
Park right next to the highpoint or, if you don't have permission to go beyond the gate, at the gate a short walk away.

ROUTE
If you reserve a campsite on the other side of the gate, you can get drive past the gate and make this a drive-up highpoint or walk from your campsite, as I did. If not, you'll have a short walk from the gate on paved roads.

That one is still on my to-do list. So far I have 14 out of the 50 -- Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, both Carolinas, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

You've got the four that I'm missing in the east… KY, VA, NC, SC. I'm thinking about making a winter trip to get them this year but no solid plans yet. Looking forward to VA's ponies.
