49 years old my fave trick- fs grinds. So you advise to learn how to pump into a slash- as opposed to dropping in kamikaze with speed at it….I started noticing that recently! The best lapped fs slashes I get I’m actually going SLOWER at them…there’s a lot of little walls I pump at loose rather than fast 😎

I always come back to your videos on fundamentals to absorb tips and get inspiration. This time I was mesmerized by your FS slash to fakie, and the FS slash front revert. You said they're for advanced (not my case at all) but I'll definitely give them a try next time. cheers!

This is unbelievably helpful: frontside *straight after dropping in* on a halfpipe filled me with a lot of fear as couldn't regulate the mind and balance when I hit the coping so am checking foot positioning, and shoulders/head. Big goal is: frontside air. Thanks JB!

*edit: haha that’s awesome he even mentions grabbing the nose for style points. 🤣 I love doing that shit.”
Learned f/s slashs by total accident on a mini-ramp then by total accident again in a bowl my first time skating a bowl. Then did them so often I could do them on anything. There was this mini ramp that was almost 5ft of pure vertical wall with pool coping. That was a tricky one to attempt. I literally had to throw my back truck up the wall to where my board may have possibly been over my eye-level shit was kinda scary. Got to the point that I just naturally began standing up and learning f/s grinds. One day I was just fucking around and just grab the nose of my board, so I guess it’s be a f/s grind-nose grab? I’d literally never seen anyone do it locally and no one was so everyone else in the park kinda saw it some sort of signature trick.
Just born out of fucking around and doing it ironically. I pulled on my nose a little too hard one day and lifted my back truck off the coping by an inch on accident and almost ate shit. Then just fucking around again I decided one day, “let’s just see if you can crail grab a f/s grind. Fuck it why not.”
Spoilers: It did not end well.

Thin riser pads are crucial for proper wheel clearance and avoid wheel bite, especially decent size diameter wheels 58-64mm are essential for carving, turning, riding skatepark transition, vertical etc.

In the late 1970s Kryptonics made wheels in 3 sizes 60, 65 &70 mm diameter and available in 3 durometers 85, 90-2 and 97. Freestyle wheels became smaller 55-60 and smaller in the 1990s, downhill wheels now 70+... 66mm OJ Bullets snd 67mm Powell TBones were the norm for vert ramps since the geometry of the wheels affected one’s ability to go higher and faster. I haven’t bought anything smaller than 60mm in many years. Powell SPF/Skate Park Formula is the fastest I have ridden on smooth surfaces ever, slide great, don’t flat spot and last long time.
