It is one of my favorite decor pieces now
Elizabeth... with the IOD transfers, it is recommended to seal in your chalk paint first before applying the transfer with a clear top coat (not WAX! lol) and then of course seal in the transfer again with either a wax or top coat. Next time try sealing your chalk paint with a top coat first before applying the transfer and you will notice a huge difference in on how easy they apply and how you won't have to rub so hard, even on a very uneven surface. Pro Tip 😁❣️ And the English Toile transfer is by far my most favorite 😍 ❤️
Hi Amber, thanks for the tips and yep I did seal it before hand with a water-based poly acrylic. I was probably not using the tool as effectively as I could have lol

What a creative idea to do book ends. Thanks for this. I personally could not stick to such a limited colour palette where I have to paint everything, which does not fit into these. I am too lazy for that. :)

Yes, the color scheme gives the rooms and objects a very anemic, washed-out look. I like the book ends, though!!!

I know what you mean about painting a Bible… but like you mentioned, people cover them with covers from Stores. Our Youth Pastor has covered his with Duct Tape because the cover was coming apart. The Bible goes everywhere with him and he is a contractor by day. So Duct Tape works ! I have a hard time when people take the pages OUT and use as crafts…😢

Love the Bible - you did a great job ! If I could make one tiny suggestion … your voice is so soft & soothing, but then you quit talking & the music is so loud - one of my pet peeves, I guess - lol - I keep adjusting my volume back & forth during the whole video - but other than that, I’m really enjoying you channel !

Your music choices are perfect, just way too loud. The verse at the end was so good for our straying hearts in this age, thank you so much. The book ends are Canterbury cottage worthy 🤓. The Bible hesitation was funny- I was talking to you, God loves to see us handle his word even with paint- then you pulled the verse out as proff😘. Perfect presentation. Elizabeth

Not a criticism, just a comment: 'toile' is pronounced 'twowl'.. hope you're not offended, it's from the French for 'cloth'.
Why settle for natural patina when one can always paint the object and create artificial patina? Hmm.

Yes a Bible should be respected and treated with reverence. But, I don't think painting it shows any disrespect to it. In fact there are artistic Bibles made for writing, journaling, and artwork. The Bible is God's Love Letters to us, we should create etc. as our love letters back to Him. It's a relationship.
You said it perfectly and I actually do have a journaling bible as well that I do art all over - that never bothered me lol!
I don't think it was disrespectful to paint the old bible. I think it was disrespectful to do such a bad job. If you couldn't make it look good, you should have left it for someone who wouldn't mind the red. The white would have been so much lovelier if it had been yellowed just a little, like a cream color. Oh, and you didn't even finish that part. You left the edges and the little bit on the inside that still showed the red. Tacky! I thought it might be OK if you left the lettering alone, but you went and painted it black. There again, you couldn't do an impeccable job. Totally disrespectful! You made a beautiful old bible ugly.
I wanted to maintain the age of the Bible and like it had been loved and read daily...not perfect and pristine like it had never been touched. I left those tattered signs of use intentionally... I also DID NOT paint the lettering. It is my bible now and I LOVE IT!
