Today we will be testing out the amazing Eventide Omnipressor plugin! This was my first time using this plugin, but I do know and love the hardware. The hardware is pretty legendary. If you go to a studio and you see an Omnipressor, you get excited!
Below is the description Eventide has on their site about this great plugin:
“Introduced in the early 1970s, the Omnipressor® was the first dynamics effects processor of any kind. Originally invented by Eventide’s founder, Richard Factor (and later redesigned for production by John Paul), the Omnipresssor made a host of effects possible. It featured variable control of all aspects of dynamic modification. It also introduced the notion of the ‘side chain’ and foretold techniques that today we take for granted like ‘look ahead’ processing."
As you can see, the Omnipressor is a legendary piece of equipment, and after trying out the plugin, I can tell you the plugin is amazing as well! The sound you can create with this plugin is incredible. I used it on a very boring recording of myself drumming, and it made my drumming sound so much better and more exciting.
A lot of you ask me what I would use to randomize, and this is a great plugin to use for that. This plugin will take your programmed drum sounds and roughen them up and turn them into something that sounds truly great. This plugin does something that no other plugin does!
Watch the full video below to see the plugin in action! If you want a chance to win your very own Omnipressor plugin, make sure you scroll up to enter!

Valley People Dyna-mite from Softube
@@Am6-9 fantastic!
@@TheSlickoify marvellous idea! The Dyna-Mite is amazing!!
Produce Like A Pro a lot of the SoundToys Stuff is great for mangling your audio. Bought their whole bundle with their academic pricing option.
I heard 21 pilots used this omnipressor so that’s pretty cool.
If you’re on FL Studio, I’m pretty sure you can get similar results with Maximus
I've been using this for awhile now and it's one of those Holy Cow tools that just messes everything up in the best of ways. An absolute kick in the shorts. Inspiring. I hope three of you nice folks win it and enjoy it as much as I have! Dig it!
The possibilities are just endless! Great sound, great history, great future! I definetely want one of those! 🍻 I got your courses and this 5x video per week is priceless! Thanks for another marvellous video Warren!
thanks for yet another video, Warren 😍 and there's less than 12 hrs left for the AES Giveaway 😮 damn i wish i get either the headphones or the mic 😍 anyways, excited to see who wins, good luck to everybody ❤️
From "Streets of Philadelphia" to "Lets dance" in the turn of a knob. There is some Bob Clearmountain in this Omnipressor. Great stuff!
Christian Gillmann haha yes, indeed!!
Love this thing. Eventide had it on a discount recently and I manage to grab it. Only dropped it on a guitar so far and it just sounds brilliant. No idea what it’s actually doing but managed to get a pretty unique sound really quickly. Classic Eventide!
I've been meaning to demo this one. Thanks for featuring it! Entered to win :)
Toby Ellis thanks ever so much my friend!!
Fantastic Warren, another great introduction for us to ponder.
You are very kind my friend! I really appreciate it!
Insane what this does for bass and how it can trash those drums! So much fun!
Eric Gonzalez thanks ever so much! I agree! Amazing!!
I've just bought it after trying the 30 day demo, I love it.
Amazing! Yes, me too! Big fan of the plug in and the hardware!!
Nice plugin with some useful and unusual benefits for a single plugin. Another entertaining and informative video Warren! Pretty cool plugin. If I don't win I'll probably buy it just to have it in my 'bag of tricks'. Cheers!
I really like your excitement for this plugin! Your passion for music really does shine
Hi Jethro Durrant thans ever so much! Yes, I love this plug in!!
Cool!!!
Hi Jethro Durrant you are very kind!
Your videos are very intuitive and informative. Love to watch your videos as I learn and have fun at the same time ! Thank-you for the giveaway as that is a extra plus ! Plus reading all the comments leave me with a open mind !
Thanks! i feel more pro just learning from you.
Hi f x you’re very kind my friend!
everything from Eventide is simply godlike
They are pretty darn amazing indeed
I like sound of compressed into expander that's sidechained with uncompressed sound.
Attenuation limit, gain limit can make expander and compressor more subtle.
Awesome demo and track!
Thanks ever so much
That is a great plugin! I'd love to have the original hardware!
Yes, wonderful plug in!
I have one
I don't know if Pro Tools has the feature (you'd think it would in 2019), but when I A/B in Cubase there is an A/B button on the plugin window. For compressor comparison, I copy the settings with 1 click, remove the threshold so there's no compression and then match the output volume and I can 1 click toggle to compare A/B. Bypassing has misleading volume differences for the non-extreme examples.
Ohhhhh, how cool! It’s a very interesting plugin. Me thinks this could work wonders on a drum bus in parallel crush 😎🥁🎤🎼
Martin Winterstein-Smith agreed! 100% my friend!!
Bought this today as there's an offer on on Eventide's site. Cost me 39 dollars and I came back here to steal warrens parallel drum compression tricks.
Fantastic!! Thanks for sharing
@@Producelikeapro Anytime mate. Hope some other can benefit from the LOW pricing. I'm looking to use it on some SD3 drums in parallel.
Trying to make things dirtier than Dick Emery's imagination.
@@MartinvonBargenvery cool! Thanks for sharing
cheers warren, another great vid
Hi Richard James yanks ever so much my friend!!
It'd be interesting to use the reverse dynamic and adjust the panning. I think you could move that extra sizzle you get from the high hat and cymbals in funky and fun ways.
wow i really want one of these!
Yes, amazing times Robert!!
A very nice plugin.
Hi Edwin Crain thanks ever so much! Agreed!!
Wow around 9 mins in the video. Love the slapbackish compression wowww.
Hi Danielle Kerley yes!! It sounds fantastic
That is a really cool piece of gear.
Sean Kerns thanks! Agreed 109%!
Thanks good information
Thanks ever so much
I have a hardware omnipressor that I've never tried. Any recommendations on what sources it would be good to track with? Or is it mostly good for these crazy effect sounds?
Hi Josh Lovett it’s amazing on room mics when tracking! You can really shape them!
GREAT TOOL THAT IS
Eventide Omnipressor is a fantastic hardware & plugin utility to reach for when you're ready to put on your Sylvia Massy or Tchad Blake hat and explore for unique sounds! Eventide also includes the Omnipressor's compressor only functionality in their very capable Ultrachannel channel strip that we use and would love to see Warren give a proper demo! Highly recommended! - chaz
TY
Hi NF Music Designer you’re very welcome!!
Wow! I have the eventide ultra channel strip, which has an omnipressor section but I don't think it has all of these features. I need this
Hi paul john yes, I’m very impressed indeed!!
That side chain right there seems like would be handy, but wait I'm
forgetting it's probably in the box.
Hi Audrey Sims it’s a great function to say the least!
I already envy the winners, make good music guys
it's crazy 👍
Yes! I love it!!
I'm using this plugin for bus 808
NF Music Designer thanks for sharing!!
I think it’s funny that this has 18k views! I’m a guitarist and follow guitar channels and no guitarist gives a single crap about compressors. Just yesterday I watched Ryan over on 60 Cycle Hum review a bunch of pedals, and his assessment of the compressor pedal was: “I mean, it compresses. Not that interesting. Who wants to watch someone demo a compressor? Next pedal!”
Lolololololol
Praying to the gods I win this, I love this comp and I'm skinned hahahah
The Ciderholics haha I hear you! I’m blessed that I get to try these great plug ins! I couldn’t buy them all! Geez!
Warren! I think you mean rocking horse schnizzle haha!
Oops! Busted!! Thanks Roy!
@@Producelikeapro Haha!
Roy Glennie haha indeed!
Great plugin!
If I win the giveaway, can it be instantiated with the one already in my plugins for stereo use :-D
John Chase haha I’m sure you can use two copies of the one you already have! Although I’m sure you’re just informing us you already own it!
Sounds pretty cool but why don't I ever see it used more compared to other compressors? Like as in ever?
Limited budget, can't buy every plugin in the world. It's on my wishlist, but not high priority.
Used NI Drum Lab in the past
Andy Macc wonderful !!
Such wrongness! I love it! Thank you Warren!
Haha I hear you my friend!
That thing sounds so good! What is the song you used?
Hi Jürgen Schuler robert Jon and the wreck!
@@Producelikeapro Thanks! Awesome song!
with plasure
What a weird device and plugin and I mean that in the most positive way,
Peter Brandt haha I hear you! It’s fantastic!!
@@Producelikeapro Speaking of weird but great plugins. Although I still dislike this kind of "paper look", the plugins by Unfiltered Audio are insane. No compressors though, but really fresh modulation, pitch and delay sounds.
No replacement for OuterSpace or HDelay, or whatever delay you love, but for soundscapes, or some wrongness.
Hi Peter Brandt thanks ever so much for the tip!!
Valley people dynamite!
Hi Bruno Tolić great unit!!
Like to mess with sound for sure... Baby Audio just came out with a new plug, I just bought it and it's "very analog" in a nasty sort of way... great for ear candy and such.
Magik
Thanks
So 2 rongs do make a Wright! :D
Justin Fisher haha yes, indeed!!
For bass, great! Drums, noooo!
Haha I love it on everything! Haha
Maybe get a better understanding of the plugin?
It takes a right person to review such a wrong plugin :) We should wrongify and randomize more often!
Michal Ochedowski aw shucks! Thanks ever so much my friend!
WHAT SORCERY IS THIS
Kieran Niemand haha agreed! Crazy good!
@@Producelikeapro but you need two! ^_^
Useless demo
