And yet smith is giving him a similar level of snark as he is with other characters. It's no different to lex luthor giving respect for wonderwoman/amazons in the suicide squad game. Even if it's basically out of character for him.

Agent smith‘s interactions with iron giant makes me think of what whould happen if they whould actually meet in canon: I can imagin mr smith being interested in iron giant and view him as a worthy opponent/ a equal(in his own twisted ways) but whould think that iron giant‘s attachments to the humans whould hold him back from his true potential and whould try something to turn him into his side(maybe by manipulation or straight up brainwashing)
