    These plugins makes NINA more amazing than it already was! I can't wait until I can image again here in Sweden!

    I have a ZWO EFW (2") on back order, so this is going to come in handy. I only have an OSC, so my filter selection is going to be Clr, LPro, LEnh, LExtr.

    N.I.N.A really has come a long way very quickly. It’s now my sequencer of choice. Great to see these new plug-ins. I’m just getting ready to setup my gear after a summer break. Cant wait to try these out hopefully in my new observatory which is nearly finished. Well explained as always. Many thanks for posting. Clear skies.

    Thanks for all your videos. Should guiding be on or off when we autofocus ??

    I noticed it had relative offsets switch. I suspect it might be a better idea and I'm guessing, once you have the current focus for the setup under current weather conditions (ie. expansion/contraction of the OTA etc), then you just offset the other filters from that current measurement. If it's about offsets and you also set up a filter to offset from, then I don't really know why it would record absolute focus positions unless the intent is to jump straight to a focus position. If so, the position would only be needed to be recorded for the selected filter (ie. Lum in your case)

      I wondered about that as well. I'd think relative offset would be the way to go. I would have expected a value of zero for Lum and then each of the remaining filters would be a +- offset from the reference filter?

    That's pretty cool, thank you for sharing!

    Very good, speeds things up a great deal. I had to set 3s exposures for RGB Clear and Lum, 15s for H S and O. Can you tell me what the "Use Relative Offsets" does? Is it better to have that on or off?

      Relative offsets are the steps between each filters focus point. You can use that instead of refocusing on every filter change. I tried it a few times without good results. What I find better is to not use it and just set the actual focus points for each filter, set it to refocus on filter change and refocus every 30min. That has worked great for me. Good luck! If you're happy with my help consider a tip! visibledark.ca/add-a-tip/

    Thanks for another great video. I have a five position wheel, LRGB plus D. D is my Dark (opaque) filter. Pretty sure it will never reach focus on that one. :-) Any thoughts on how to work around this filter. Perhaps temporarily set up as four position wheel, then change back to five? Could use the results and calculate the relative off-sets and manually input them into NINA with Lum as zero.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Shawn. Would you make another video about how to incorporate offsets into a sequence? How to autofocus then switch filters using an offset? I currently select the filter I want to use and then run an autofocus for that filter. Thanks

    Hello, what are Offsets? I know it from Camera offset, but its not what you speak about, isnt it?
    Do you speak about an elecrtronic focusser?

    Shawn, I've never used offsets but am very interested in giving it a try. How does it compensate for the backlash that most focusers have? I'm guessing you need to have the proper backlash settings done first before attempting this.

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro 3 роки тому

      Yes you would need to have your backlash set up properly in NINA before calculating your offsets.

    Hello, what is it good for? Don´t I have to focus in each session again because conditions are changing, seeing etc. So focussing needs to be done anyway, doesn´t it? So why to determine the offset for each filter when re-focussing is needed anyway for each session. Sorry perhaps I did not get here something. CS

    Hi …would the offsets calculated with the plug-in Dark Customs in Nina be able to be manually put into the filter offsets section in SGPRO….and would it work?

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro 3 роки тому

      Interesting question. I don't know though. I would think inputting the relative offsets that NINA arrived it into SGP might work. Give it a try and let me know! I'm curious.

    Would you be able to use this with manual filter wheel or filter drawer? Or is it just for EFW?

    I'm not using NINA but does dark filter offset work for all filter changes or only darks? If all, the name is a little confusing.

    • @VisibledarkAstro
      @VisibledarkAstro 3 роки тому +1

      The name isn't the best I agree. When I first saw the name I thought it had something to do with dark frames. But it calculates the offsets for you for all filters. Then NINA knows how many steps to make between each filter to focus whatever filter you switch to. Once the offsets are calculated and locked in, you can just do an autofocus with the lum filter before your nights imaging session and NINA will then be able to auto focus all filters based on the known offsets. Hope this helps!
