@@stuartdarlington4739 Now Manc's sell their former council houses to each other for £500k and worry where they will get their artisan bread and designer coffee from.
@Gaz Walker First, please do not patronise me. So you are saying that public sector workers are working for the same or lower standard of living as say 100 years ago? Same 'dirty work for less'? Could you please clarify your point.
Thank you for sharing these recordings. We live in glorious times where we can time travel and hear all the old records that never made it to our local shops at the time.
Wonderful, memories of The Eagle an Child Folk club, Whitefield, Manchester Sunday nights, Wednesday eves the mason arms, whitefield, Monday somewhere in Bury, mixed sound for the Oldham Tinkers two times, Elizabethan Suite, Radcliffe being one, fab chaps. Cheers from NZ fellow Northern folkies, this album is fab! Many cheers
True folk songs from a different era, I 'm not sure they are still relevant though. Nevertheless a reflection of the history of Lancashire that we should be aware of.
used to listen to this every day going to school about 5 years ago now. It was a new school, I'd been booted out my old one. Hated every second of it. No friends, nobody shared my humour or interests, different codes of conduct among the social setting of the students. All I had was the music i liked on my phone to ground me. This one some of that music. For some reason i didn't listen to it much afterwards, but 5 years later it pops up in my recommendations. Funny how folk tunes from Lancashire can make a 20-year-old American nostalgic.
+Nigel Foley I uploaded another record called 'Owdham Edge - Popular Song and Verse from Lancashire' which is similair to this one, and also a record by Harry Boardman, one of the singers on this record
Jessica Brandsma, I see you like folk music. If you want to hear more folk music, then look in my playlist~ Frey's favourites; I add songs randomly. Some of your records (such as this Lancashire one & the Ranting Lads/High Level Ranters one) are in my playlist.
Somewhere I have I have an LP with Harry Boardman and others entitled New Voices. Many years ago I went to Harry Boardman's club with a boyfriend who had a car which was great!
boar i never knew you had to be from the area the music come from or be related to the band thanks alot i will now give away 99pc of my cds i never knew there was there was these rules i must be more careful ln the future
Tyrants of England - still running the race. The class struggle long forgotten by the masses - but still felt by many Lancastrians.

The song still holds up for our governments who swear our allegiances to Israel.

Hop Hop Hop brings back so many memories of my dad singing bits of this song. I never knew where it came from until now.
I have kept the original vinyl and will probably sing The Rawtenstall Annual Fair at the pub later. Not completely understood in Somerset.
