Just curious, what is a low population of elk? Just googling I’m seeing 125,000 elk in Idaho today I’m cuties what it was in early 2000s. Are we talking like 100,000 elk or 20,000? Can’t believe we have 1,000 here in PA now. Can’t imagine them expanding east in PA

Help control the population. The animals that are here now didn't even know what a wolf was when they were reintroduced. They have decimated animal populations because of that. Of course, all of it is human fault, but reintroducing wolves was not the answer. They should have kept them contained.

What I see also again the AR 15 or AR 10 with quick release scope then keep open sites with you to fast change from scope to open sites would be very valued. I have my 4 AR 15 uppers set up for quick change scope to open sites and back again and the same for the AR 10 I have with 3 uppers can be changed fast from scope to open sites and back again. I wonder the toughness of these wolfs? how hard are they to kill for judging the smallest sized rifles to use? I would give a try for wolves with my AR 15 in 6mm x45 because I load up to 100 grain bullets in it and for my AR 10 out of 3 caliber uppers, I would use the 6 mm -284 win for light recoil to stay on target after firing. I wish someone would make a video where to start looking for wolf's what part of the state and share that info. The more wolf's killed the better for managing the wolf's.
A quick google search will turn up several maps showing where many of the packs' ranges are as well as which counties have had the most wolf damage (to both wildlife and livestock). I would recommend going to those counties and locate the wolves, then move in and set up on them. Concerning an AR set-up. I agree I wish more guys would use AR's for wolf hunting as I believe this guy could have easily killed several more. However, I would disagree about removing the scope in the field while hunting. I understand changing the scope between uppers however there is no need to "fast change" as you put it while hunting. Instead consider using and offset sight mount and then you can simply and quickly tilt your rifle inward and use iron sights or a red dot. This makes the transition super quick. Anyway, good luck to you in the future.
