I think he means that people not knowing music theory and continuing to brush it off as something you do not need at all often leads to predictible and repetitive music. The point of learning music theory is knowing what people's ears expect and the patterns that usually work and deciding to avoid it cool ways to make progressions more interesting. Im not saying these producers are predictible at all, but I feel like music theory definetly does nothing but benefit the listeners.
