Bread-maker Trouble shooting and repair

- At my house we use our bread-maker 3 or 4 times a week. When it broke down, I had to look at it and see if it was worth fixing. This is what I found.
The synchronous belt (timing belt) I sourced from beltpalace.com/
Music: High Octane from Bensound.com

I still have this bread maker since 1996. Made a loaf today. Works perfect!
@@jennbee6758 Awesome. I love fresh baked bread!
This helped! I discovered the belt of my $5 Goodwill-find bread maker fell off. I had only made 1 loaf so far.
Thank you for your video.
Thank you, you've saved me money and given my trusted breadmaker a new lease of life 😂
I have used my Oster 5821 bread maker regularly for over 20 years. Recently, I have found black powdery "stuff" underneath the bread maker, and more recently, the bread maker just isn't working properly. I think your video may solve the problem. I just ordered a replacement belt. When it comes in and I get the new belt on, I'll let you know how it turns out. Meanwhile, THANK YOU for creating this post! I hate to throw away anything that can be fixed. Your video gives me hope that I won't have to toss out my tried and true Oster. 🙂
Good luck. The black stuff accumulating under the pan is parts of the mixer shaft seal. That part is also usually replaceable. When the seal wears out it will leak. To test for leaks, remove the pan and put water in it and let it sit. You will know if the seal needs replacing as well.
Buddy. The intro and outro music is way too loud. Otherwise, how did the belt replacement go? My 25yr0 (at least) Breadman 2lb loaf machine is showing signs of wear. The buttons have to be bloody squished hard to get them to work. Hoping to get that button pad apart one day and clean the contacts.
OMG I have that exact same bread machine. However I retired mine before the belt went bad because I really didn’t like the way it made bread 🤭 Cool video about the mm stretch in the belt! Info will be handy I other application 👍🏻
thanks for the easy fix, this was the problem I was having
Same for me. Worked yesterday, spins with a funny noise today.

Good to know. Beats throwing it out like we're used to do. Nowadays its easier to throw away than fix it.
Taking a look costs nothing. If it was an expensive repair like a heater element or plc panel, I would likely trash it.....or send it to Coop over at Wonder Why Farms. I understand he retires them there!
🇨🇦 Your machine looks like mine. Regal K6760. I just dusted mine off after sitting on a shelf for probably 15 years or so. When I cleaned it up and plugged it in the 0:00 on the timer display works but no lights display or nothing happens when I press any other buttons on the panel. I have unplugged it a couple times. No results. Any suggestions? Do you think it’s worth fixing?
Did it work when you put the new belt on? My machine is the same model but I think the problem is not the belt but actually the gear around the motor breaking off, making the belt longer than it needs to be by default
So the belt worked for a few loaves. Then the gear broke in half. The gear must have been cracked already, and a tighter belt finished it off. The follow up video to this is a shiny new breadmaker! Turns out the model I have is so old, I am unable to source a replacement gear. I haven't had any luck with subsequent breadmakers as I use it 4 times a week and they break down every 6 months like clockwork. Sorry about your broken gear. I make bread by hand now and bake it in the oven.
@@oddjobsremigauthier thanks for your response, saved me trying a new belt
How do you fix the shaft on the bread pan where the shaft is welded to the wingnut doohickey? My shaft keeps falling out, and the only explanation I have is that a 2 cent nylon washer broke. I got some replacement washers with a "seal kit" that also had snap rings, but my shaft does not use snap rings. My question is how to get the shaft to now STAY IN, and what type of NYLON washer will work. Very frustrating that a 200 machine fails on a 2 cent nylon washer. Any ideas?
I replaced my belt after it didn't spin or mix when I pressed start. And it still won't work. I press start and there's no sound and it won't mix. Any idea of what I should do next? Thanks for the video
is this the right part?
564-3M-09 Synchronous Timing belt. 9MM Wide.
Thanks and I'm sure that is the problem with my bread machine that barely mixes. I'm going to take it apart tomorrow and look at the belt. It's about 20 years old so I'm sure that is the problem.
My bread maker paddle wont spin. I took it apart belt looks good not sure whats wrong
Is there any service for black n decker bread maker in Vancouver. I need a new belt.
Although fuse is checked and power too I have no power. Any ideas please.?
I took mine apart I have a regal. The panel and everything removed the same. My belt is definitely dead!! My next problem is my pan is siezed. Any suggestions for that? I can remove the dough paddle but that wingnut doohickey doesn't rotate. Also note the seal on mine doesn't leak like many do complain about. I'm at a loss.
Here is a test for you to run. First, take off the belt. Then try and spin the wing nut doohickey. If it doesn't turn freely, then you will need to replace the bearings and bushings. If it does turn, then the drive motor is seized. I am no expert, but a reputable appliance repair shop should be able to replace either of those items. Hope that helps.
@@oddjobsremigauthier belt is ripped. Everytime in that area turns. Belt is on by a thread. The pan itself is siezed up and doesn't spin.
I just inherited my mother’s bread machine , but only 1 button will work , is there an easy fix with this ? Please 🙏🏾 help !
I am not an appliance repair professional, however, if it is the belt that has failed, removing the bottom cover will, at the very least, expose the belt, which will have a number on it that the manufacturer can use to sell you a replacement. They might also be able to help you go through the installation process. Most manufacturers provide great how to videos on thier websites. I hope this helps.
Thanks
How to change belt for mb 260 please,,❤
Thanks for this video! Saved me.
I used the Toastmaster TB15 for the first time and the crust of the white bread was very hard. Did I do something wrong?
I have found that the longer you let the bread cool before removing it from the breadmaker, the softer the bread crust is. That is my best advice.
Thanks, I'll give that a try. @@oddjobsremigauthier
I wash water inside the machine bec the dough it's make over flow.. I wash yesterday now is not working what I do please how to fix it need to dry
Have a Breadman Ultimate Plus. Used it to make bread. Waited 3 hrs then plugged in to make more bread.

My Breadman bread maker just all of a sudden started squealing & smoking any idea what it may be plz?
That sounds bad.
My daughter has a friend named Adam Gauthier. Indianapolis. Any relation?
My Panasonic SD 253 which I love and have had for years. Put my ingredients in tonight and plugged it in. The red light is coming on but none of the function buttons will work. Any Ideas what could be wrong
I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. If you can still find a small appliance repair shop, they may be some help.
Thank you so much 💓
Thanks.
Sir iam from India, my bread maker is not stopping spinning. Help me to control spinning problem
