My favorite would-have-been last words are from a pilot in the (thankfully non-lethal) Dover AFB C-5 crash, said mere seconds before impact. “Guys, I’m concerned.” The pilot who said this was, for the record, the idiot who got them into the crash in the first place. Everyone lived, and as such it’s become one of my favorite vocal stims.
Best last words I ever heard of was a two seater fighter pilot who came out of a cloud bank and flew straight into a mountainside. Over the radio his last words were: 'Oh hell.... point your toes Ed, we're going in deep.' It may have been made up, but honestly it's exactly the kind of thing pilots say, except mostly they would swear slightly more luridly than a mere 'oh hell. I have always imagined the whole sentence was spoken drily, with resignation and a sort of long suffering inflection.
Guys, I'm here to temporarily escape the terrible reality of American politics by listening to the terrible reality of British politics, which is entertaining because it does not materially impact my life in a direct and undeniable way. How am I supposed to manage that when you talk about American politics instead?

November is correct about the West Wing plot. The later seasons depict the presidential race between Democrat Matt Santos v. Republican Arnold Vinick. Vinick is presented as a Republican who is running for the "right reasons" who is better on foreign policy. Matt Santos upon winning the election makes Vinick his Secretary of State based on that foreign policy skill and Santos's virtue of wanting the best for the country no matter what their background. I saw reporting Badenoch has a group chat full of psychos who say things such as Sunak not being sufficiently British because of "his ancestral heritage", and according to someone on her time she frequently consults with this group chat of supporters before adding things to her policy plan. Which is very insane. Especially considering her own heritage, that she's fine with those guys supporting her.
Re: Sue Gray - she lived in Newry (County Down), and her husband is from County Down. Divis Tower is right on Divis Street, just about in West Belfast - I do wonder if Nova has recently visited Northern Ireland, because while I'll agree that Newry is certainly quite a Republican stronghold city... it's also a very different way of life compared to Belfast, both in terms of economics, and also the much more rural way of life in County Down, rather than in Belfast, County Antrim. This has been me being pedantic about Northern Ireland things.
@@postoctobrist Growing up, I really only saw the likes of the Grosvenor Road, and facilities next to the Westlink being used as watch facilities by the Army/RUC. My late father was once a primary school teacher, who taught close to the Shankill Road - the roof of that school was used by the Army as a watch facility, which of course the Loyalists were... not quite ok with, but it meant that the IRA wouldn't be willing to kill the human shield school pupils. The Shankill still lives in a bizarre siege mentality, at least in terms of electoral politics, given it's really a Two Horse Race between Sinn Féin and People Before Profit for the Assembly, Westminster and Council. The DUP lost their only MLA for West Belfast when they went down from 6 per constituency to 5, as part of a downsizing of the Assembly. Of course, these days, almost everything apart from I guess the Peace Walls have been dismantled. The Grosvenor Road Police Station is still there, but the adjacent Army facility is long gone, replaced by a parking lot, just opposite the recently opened Grand Central Station. It's so very easy to give yourself Mandela Effect given how much of the police state is just gone and redeveloped.
Gods above I hate vibes discourse. In the entire time since Harris swapped in, the presidential race hasn't moved meaningfully away from "they both have about a 50% shot," and the rest is just noise.
It's a show for people who think opinions are for idiots and are incapable of recognising the inherent irony in that belief. There's the occasional time when it's actually worthwhile but the majority of it is a bunch of bullshit that inevitably ends with an endorsement of radical centrism.
Trey and Matt, by their admission, "don't like conservatives but really really hate liberals". Their ideology is simply in favor of the status quo against all moral busybodies that challenge it, whether it would be concern with satanic messages in media or with the global warming (an issue they ate crow on after the damage was done). It's often easy to take the libertarian position on issues: "I just don't want people to be forced to do stuff, I'm not against gay marriage, the government should not be deciding who gets married". Okay but what if I fire you for being gay? What then? Should they be punished for doing that? That sounds like the government forces them to not fire you and would be therefore just as bad as homophobia! The only time south park is right is accidentally, when the correct position to take is that of irreverence.
