Where to start. You two are just special. Your land is an incredible ecosystem. Love the way you share a bit of that in each episode. I was always impressed with how you built the cabin with hand tools, but now the way you are creating the amenities to make life easier and more enjoyable is just amazing. I know I use that word a lot, but it always fits. The simple elegance of the towel rack, but that love seat/bench/chair is off the charts. What a great job you did on it and it will last from now on. I always enjoy your vids. Coffee, Nick and Maela. Way good!

As always, thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot! It’s a pleasure to see your name appear week after week :) glad you enjoyed the video! Take care and we hope all is good for you!
I was showing my husband your work. It’s amazing the precise craftsmanship the 2 of you have! Love the bench, it’s too fancy to be called a bench it should be the the double lounging chair! It is gorgeous

Thank you so much :) we appreciate the kind words! Take care and stay safe!
I can’t believe how far you have both come regarding your home. It has everything now, very comfortable for you. As you said it just needs a vegetable garden, well a bigger one anyway. I started watching from the first few episodes, being in awe of your strength and determination to make this without power tools. Through injury and very cold weather, to enjoying your first Xmas. Well done and thanks for sharing this ongoing journey
The table on your porch that you made is so beautiful. You are using it to saw boards, etc. You should put some kind of cover on it so you don't ruin the surface. Maybe with your extra lumber you could make a couple of sawhorses. I really enjoy your videos.
This new world you’re building makes me so happy! It’s wonderful to see two young people working together with respect and harmony. It’s a real love story I think and I’m very happy for you 😉👋👵🥰

Thanks, neighbor!! Always happy to read you :) hope all is well in your part of Canada ;)
COMPLIMENTI.
Amazing such nice couple building their own cabin .This is awesome,Thank for sharing it I was watching you guys from the begging to the end . I want to have a cabin like that 😍

Well done on the great job you did with the cabin so it wasnt affected by the flooding. Your double chair is beautiful you could make a living making furniture you are that good x
Found your videos a few days ago. I am totally enjoying watching them. The work you've done is incredible. Be very proud of yourselves. You have more than earned it. You guys are an awesome pair. Will keep watching.
Love the tiny tomatoes! And watching the beaver on the pond. The porch bench looks comfy, although some sanding and staining will make it more beautiful! And some pretty print material for padding on the seats will be the finishing touch!

We listened to you and got some nice padding on the seats :) thanks!
Enjoy your meal! Today we're also having homemade basil pesto with spaghetti. I'm always happy for you when you finish building something. The bench turned out great!

Thanks, Manuel! Nothing like eating food directly from your garden to your plate :)
Out standing video, love how you too work together and enjoy each other company. Also you taught me a new way to cut curves when needed with a chisel. My ,02 thou, when you saw on the table try clamping the table to the wall, I don't think the table will move as much. Sorry to see all the rain on your property, but great idea about putting the cabin up high to safe guard from the rain or snow run off. The seat for two is perfect size on the porch. Have fun and enjoy the cabin to the fullest, please keep safe from the wild life.

Thanks, Phil! We learned to do those curves by doing all the notches on the logs for the walls.. had to do a lot of those ahaha as for the table, you’re right, that might help! We need to build a workshop, eventually and fix that problem for good !
What an inpress two-seater sofa you have made. Really great and done by hand. my father was a furniture maker in the 60s/70s and also made many pieces of furniture in this way. So nice to see and follow you.✌❤❤🤗

That seal of approval, given by the kid of an old fashion furniture maker means a lot ;) thank you very much :)
So good to see you again! Wow, that was a lot of water. I always love how you start a video. Making me guess what you're building next. The love seat looks awesome, and I hope you will spend lots of time enjoying it. Thanks for another great episode! Be well!
Hey yall, very cool love seat. I live in the city so I can't really take advantage of things like hydro electric, or water powered saw mill, or even geothermal HVAC. I wish more people who had rural land would take advantage of all these things. I guess I got really lucky, because Debby only produced a slight drizzle for 2 hours in central Michigan. I am so glad you faired well through it. It looks yummy, I only eat rotini, ramen and lasagna pasta. I just made Lasagna = 9 boiled noodles - 1lb. ground turkey & 2 beer brats blended & cooked - sliced black olives - small curd cottage cheese - mozzarella cheese - meat flavored Ragu. 3 layers in a 9" x 13" Pyrex - baked 30 minutes @ 350.

You’re absolutely right! So many cool technologies are under utilized. We definitely want to use some hydroelectric power in the future, especially at the sugar shack, since it’s right next to the creek and we would be using it during the spring (which is peek flowing time). Didn’t know Debby went all the way to Michigan too! Glad you guys didn’t get too affected by it 😅 That lasagna sounds delicious, and hopefully it was ;) take care!
such a wonderful way to live not trying to tell you what to do but your skills could make a water wheel it could produce power but I feel sure you think of these things

Wanna be careful standing so close to torrential streams and rivers right after a storm. I've seen flash flooding 6 feet high come through in just seconds taking large boulders and trees, it's like a train you don't hear coming. Another great video! thanks to the both of you, be safe!

That’s crazy! We never saw flash flooding, so that did not cross our minds at all! We’ll be more careful in the future, thanks for the reminder :)
Great video again as always Guys. I enjoy watching you two on your journey and living vicariously through your experiences. I am an old man now but this is something I always dreamed of doing but life had other plans. The bench looks great, did you come up with the plans yourself?
2 місяці тому
Thanks, that means a lot to us :) Nick found some already made plans online, but only for a one person seat. So he changed it a little, but the base stayed the same!
Bonjour à vous merci pour une nouvelle vidéo ❤😂✌je regarde vos vidéos depuis le début, vous avez bien avancé sur sur votre chalet merci à la prochaine vidéos

Uh! We did find that they didn’t have the same texture as a zucchini, so you’re probably right! But the seeds package do say "yellow zucchini". Maybe it’s just marketing. We definitely like the green zucchini better ;)
Where did you get the Velcro screening for your porch?
2 місяці тому
For the door, we got those with amazon. For the big windows, we sew them to bug screening that we bought at an hardware store. They sold just a big roll of velcro there!
i just meant that you guys took all the time and trouble to use hand tools making your cabin then you whip out a motorized ninja for pesto. i have cooked professionally all my life. when at work there is never time for a mortar and pestle so you throw everything into a robot coupe( a souped up food processor) . since my life has slowed down, i use a mortar and pestle whenever i can. its kind of meditative. definitely slows you down. some people say it tastes better, i am not so sure. use whatever makes you happy.

Did all the water overflow the lake/pond?
Hey Jeff! Nice to hear from you again :) the pond did amazing in all the flooding. Those beavers really know what they’re doing!
🤣 funny

Now you have to make a small table for the chair to put things on like that pot or drinks. U.S.A. CALIFORNIA to be exact.
Hello, the house is very nice.

Unless there are yellow zucchinis, as far as I know, that's yellow squash. That's what they are called in North Dakota, anyhow.

We’ve heard about that trick, but still haven’t tried it!! We’ll have to change that. Thanks for the reminder :)

Good job, but eating out of the pot is kinda nasty!
you need to make a wooden mortar and pestle. something very weird about you guys using a ninja to make pesto
Is it? Do you find it changes the taste? Makes it less potent maybe!
i just meant that you guys took all the time and trouble to use hand tools making your cabin then you whip out a motorized ninja for pesto. i have cooked professionally all my life. when at work there is never time for a mortar and pestle so you throw everything into a robot coupe( a souped up food processor) . since my life has slowed down, i use a mortar and pestle whenever i can. its kind of meditative. definitely slows you down. some people say it tastes better, i am not so sure. use whatever makes you happy.
Well, I think the UA-cam rules should be changed. ONE thumb is simply not enough for you.
That’s too kind ahaha
Are you guys married
Awesome!
