Yes, when I was in school in 1991 many of us carried knives. Not to threaten people with but if someone is going to hold me up with a knife to take my £1 lunch money I could defend myself. I would have never worried about a 10 year jail sentence when my life was at steak. You can’t defend yourself against a weapon if you don’t have one yourself.

Crime is a business to the Gov, basic economics. Without criminals they lose money and their elite mates wont have jobs as judges etc.. crime is very profitable for the Gov.

There have always been rich and poor, people had far less in the 60s when I was a youngster but there was discipline taught in and out of the home, respect for authority and social cohesion, word would soon get around, without all the media we have today ( black and white tvs ) and people looked out for and helped one another. Nowadays cheating and stealing goes unpunished in many cases, crime is rife in many areas and our traditional British values of honesty, hard work and fair play have been undermined.

This does happen. There was a case in Germany or possibly Sweden. A woman was raped but she didn't report it because her attacker was a black immigrant and she was worried about getting him in trouble and causing bad feelings towards immigrants
I was born in Rhodesia which has more poverty than most other countries and crime was on the rise when i lived there.Try stealing from a shop or store and see the consequences. They arent nice.

I have worked all my life and paid plenty of tax i found myself on job seekers allowance i was treated so badly by the job centre i can understand how a good person would be made to feel bitter and turn to crime (i never did) the benefit system is one of the reasons for rising crime.

I think we should be thinking about legalising weapons, not making them more illegal. The issue is that the people breaking the laws don't care about the law, if the average citizen was allowed to carry a knife, or gun, criminals wouldn't be so quick to act, as they wouldn't be so sure that their weapon is an advantage.
So all that will do is encourage people to get guns just in case someone has a bigger knife than them and so it not only will continue, but it escalates!

@MAZ732 it works for citizens in America, how many lives have been saved because good civilians had the ability to conceal and carry, look at texas for example low crime rate you need a licence but people generally don't fuck around and find out, I'd apply for a gun licence straight away because if 3 men burst into your house with machetes your gonna have little chance of anything going your way a firearm will put the advantage in your hands and you may just save yourself and your family from becoming victims no respawn with it, I think its a brilliant idea, you will need mental health screening and gun training and to know your right with a gun it would save lives and even reduce crime the only people who have guns now are the criminals what chance does any law abiding citizens have can't even carry a tazer or anything it's so backwards

Some countries use caning as means of punishment for some crimes. Make the penalties for crimes more harsh and increase money for education. I'm old and I know many younger people whose education from the same schools and, more or less, the same courses was not as good as mine. That is due to a drop in standards so that everyone can graduate from an academic preparatory program, at least it seems like that.

The problem we have is they use the fewer examples of positive multiculturism in England (and more specifically London) to call anyone highlighting the obvious/facts a 'racist'. Just blaming wealth inequality misses the point. It's a cultural issue. In some cultures, poor kids are taught that studying, working hard and staying out of trouble will lead them to a better place. Unfortunately youth culture in certain parts of the UK is focussed on glamorising status symbols and luxury items that are completely out of reach for them and mocking anyone who doesn't have them. This leads youngsters to the conclusion they need to turn to crime to obtain that lifestyle. As a consequence criminality becomes a part of that culture, entwined with the persuit of success. If you're not involved in crime you're seen as unsuccessful.

Norwich used to be one of the safest cities in the UK but not any more. I agree about no legal and social circumstances for bad actions.
