This is the vidoe of the Mandarin Baptist Church of Los Angeles' English Choir singing the song "Here I Am, Lord" on Missions Conference Sunday, March 19, 2006. Enjoy!
I'm by no means a religious man, but for some reason, I do like religious music and this piece is one of them I do enjoy. With that said, this choir did a wonderful job. Bravo!
and why not!! baptists send a lot of missionaries to the whole world to evangelize and spread the gospel of the lord Jesus Christ.. The true essence of the song is the action itself..
I just happened to be on the Dan Schutte website last night and this was touted as his most famous song. I wasn't trying to be a smart alec or anything. God Bless!

@ChristineInVanAlstyn I understand your position. I had many doubts in my past. But take caution from what is being said. Read the Bible with this in mind. God never ceases to love us. But, he has zero tolerance for sin. We are already condemned. All he requires is that we admit our sinfulness and accept the terrible price of His grace given to us by the death of Christ Jesus and the glory of His resurrection. In that way we obey the command to love Him with all our heart, mind & soul.
all religion is man made!!all early civilizations created them as myths, as a way to try to understand the world & themselves at a time when knowledge & self awareness were in their infancy. Many of these myths are beautiful examples of early man seeking understanding. We see creation myths or religion in middle east, europe, south & north america, asia, australia, africa etc. this tells us a lot about man and his need to feel safe in the face of certain death and nothing about some imagined deity! xxx
1staccs & everybody, The word "catholic" when spelled with a lower-case "c" means ecumenical or universal; as in catholic faith = universal Christian Church. However, when spelled with a large-case "C," the the word "Catholic" takes on a whole different meaning -- as in the Catholic Church and later the Roman Catholic Church; certainly not universal. As, not in fellowship with other Christian churches - even though all profess faith in Christ.
1staccs, Redeemed? By who? Those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior ARE redeemed -- that happened when He said, "It is finished." Christ's death paid the sin offering of everyone from Adam to the last person who is born just before the Last Trumpet sounds. Now, if a person chooses not to believe in Jesus Christ, then they are damned. John 3:36; Mark 16:16.
That would seem to be in contrast with a number of beautiful passages wherein Christ speaks of actions of decency and love being the most important thing. Pretty sure you are off base there, damning everyone who may not accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. And it isn't up to you anyway. Wouldn't it be lovely if people focused as much energy on being kind and decent to each other, rather than deciding who is going to hell because they differ in how they express themselves as a Child of God?
Jesus doesn't belong to the Catholic Church. Jesus came to earth to redeem ALL, not just those of certain denominations--which didn't exist at the time, BTW. Following your logic we Christians took God from the Jewish people. After all they had him first, right? You need to think before you spout nonsense.

What is a Baptists Church doing by singing a Catholic hymn?
No, He wasn't, Jesus was referring to Peter's statement of faith because moments later Peter is called "Satan."
There is nothing controversial about the hymn so what's the problem. Praise God.

Tempo is WAAAYYY too slow.
Um, most churches sing the same hymns. It's not uncommon at all.
