Guitarist/Songwriter/Samurai
Born in the Manitoba prefecture of Canada, samuraiguitarist, Steve-san Onotera, honed his discipline under the study of the country's most powerful musical sensei.
i think i'll go with
1 - Guitar George (He know's all the fancy chords)
2 - Harry ( He's got a daytime job)
How’s Harry these days? Is he doing alright?
Mind, it's strictly rhythm with George, he doesn't want to make it cry or sing
He can only afford an old guitar
toxic what about big man Marty Schwartz
@@shivagautamachristchan9710 best guitar teacher in youtube
I wouldn't be a guitarist/songwriter/musician without George Harrison. I love his Slide playing, his strumming patterns, his use of augmented and diminished chords, and just his general songwriting. I'm 17 with my first album on the way, and I basically have to give him credit for everything on it :)
IMO I think that he was the best Beatle and made some of the greatest music after they split up. A master song writer.

this a human guitar player list, Lil wayne and Nick Jonas are gods
Me And I Taylor Swift is a metal guitar god as well
GCJ is a living legend
Kenneth Wilson nah tbh he ain't even top ten of the generation.
I agree. He's really not that much technically better than many other blues guitarists and his songwriting is redundant and shows no real skill. It kind of just follows the same old 12 bar blues again and again.
Tom Morello
David Gilmour
Mark Morton
Jimi Hendrix
John Frusciante
Dimebag Darrell
John Petrucci
Mark Knoplfer
Jimmy Page
Joe Duplantier
Joan Brunet Verdaguer let's go dimebag

Ah yes
John Frusciante
Paul Gilbert
George Thorogood
@fjf sjdnx He might be able to, but he never did with when he was with The Beatles. He plays drums.
John paul jones
Mark Knopfler, hell yeah. From the way he rocks to the most beautiful ballads (Romeo & Juliet) he is an amazing writer and guitarist.
Dragonsneeze The most underrated too.
Dragonsneeze ye, I'd consider him the most talented guitarrist of today
Dragonsneeze Criminally underrated, but I love him

I love Music
Epic Music Movie doesn't everyone?
Epic Music Movie Who doesn't?
I don't I just like the hours ;-)
Do you like Kurt Cobain
How can u not? Kurt is the MAN. He will take you on a ride playing 3 or 4 chords. The art of simple music is not easy.....And Nirvana delivers in spades.
Top Ten is really difficult but off the top of my head
Jeff Beck
Django Reinhardt
Wes Montgomery
Jimi Hendrix
Duane Allman
Eddie Van Halen
Marcin Dylla
Robert Johnson
John McLaughlin
Allan Holdsworth
Many more I love listening to. I think a Top Ten for a few different styles might work!
MrCro Mega Django has got to be the best of all time.
Finally a list with Jeff Beck and Duane allman
Some of my favorites. In no particular order.
Jimmy Page
Brian May
Kirk Hammett
James Hettfield
George Harrison
The Edge
Mike McCready
Dave Keuning
James Hetfield is one of the best rhythm guitarists out there
I think Johnny Marr from the Smiths is very underrated.
He makes playing look effortless, it looks like he is doing nothing but out of his amp comes this amazing music.
Couldn't help but notice a lack of Django Reinhardt , other than that, solid list
Burt Bunt
lol did you, like me, got to that conclusion because of certain parts of the background song?
Really seems to have a limited knowledge of rock. Steve Hillage, John McLaughlin, All Do Meola, Peter Green, Montrose, Paco DeLucia Alan Holdsworth, Ethridge. People forget popular isn't best.
I've always wondered if he is related to El Rhino.
I thought the exact same thing.
1. Matt Bellamy

5. Jimmy Page
6. Tony Iommi
7. Jimi Hendrix
8. Assorted Classical Compositions
9. Angus Young
10. John Frusciante
Rate my list baby.
Finally, Matt Bellamy!
Gilmore is my favorite guitarist
Brian May was the reason I started to play guitar, I saw Queen live in 1980 and while I am sure everyone spent the concert watching Freddie Mercury, I spent the show just in awe of Brian, and his 3 part harmony was mind blowing.. and the fact he built his own guitar with his dad just amazes me.
That is an amazing story!

4. alvin lee
5. jimi hendrix
6. elmore james
7. bb king

+jordan mitchell me too
Matteo Pala im happy that slash is atleast on someones top 10 list here because he and jimi hendrix are my favorite guitarists
Man, almost the same as mine. Guthrie would replace Mark Tremonti but alter bridge is my second favourite band after led zep so my top 11 would be those plus Guthrie
John Frusciante is the reason I play guitar
Shahar Pikman same man. No one else sounds like him
Shahar Pikman same
Amen brother!
Wish I'd had to chance to see him live. BTW guys, I'm a girl :)
Shahar Pikman kk I'm a 13 year old boy I don't carw
John Squire of The Stone Roses. Love how his guitar work was just icing on the cake 🎂👌
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Tony Iommi
3. Angus Young
4. Stephen Egerton (Descendents, All, Flag)
5. Ron Asheton (Stooges)
6. John Dwyer (Thee Oh Sees, Coachwhips, etc.)
7. Ty Segall (solo, Fuzz, etc.)
8. Alex Lifeson (Rush)
9. Buzz Osborne (Melvins)
10. Greg Sage (Wipers)
not in any order after the first three. I was going to say Greg Ginn of Black Flag but chose Stephen from Descendents instead since Ginn's music and playing have frankly sucked since 1986 while Stephen has continued to develop and put out great music with Descendents and All over the years. they have similar styles and Stephen can play like Ginn (hence him being a member of Flag) but he's also a more technical player imo and has a unique style of his own. I think his guitar work on the Descendents album All is a good example of that. I love both bands and they've had a huge impact on me in many ways but Greg Ginn's playing hasn't really changed if anything I might argue it's gotten worse post Black Flag.
Dude have you heard Henry Rollins early solo work? I didnt expect his first 4 solo works to sound as fantastic as they were. I loved black flag, but was scared henry rollins solo work would suck so i never checked it out and then like 10 years after getting into black flag, Henry's early works were just amazing dude. Its like a mix of black flag and fugazi/bauhaus or at the drive-in or something. Its friggin sick
if you notice 2 out of the top three play sg's i guess they rule
@@dudeman5303 I've heard rollins band over the years and I like some songs
@@Thefvkingoat Hendrix, Iommi, Young, Dwyer, and Sage all play SGs. I love SGs I have an epiphone and its my favorite guitar. some of the others on my list Im sure have played SGs at some point or another even if it was just for a gig or a track in the studio.
@@whatidoissecret28 i have an epiphone aswell also my favorie guitar
Jeff Beck
George Harrison
Jimi Hendrix
Eric Clapton
BB King
Robert Johnson
Bob Dylan

semiLivedj Amen to that
Allan K kurt cobain

You deserve at least a honorable mention.
Shredder dude it's really easy to see that you've just botted likes and replied to yourself with another account don't try that shit bro

You did I checked out your videos and you're not good yet
1. Randy Rhoads
2. Brian May
3. Eric Johnson
4. Dave Mustaine
5. David Gilmour
6. Steve Vai
7. Jimmy Page
8. John Frusciante
9. All three guitarists in Iron Maiden
10. Samuraiguitarist
I Agree but it could use some Clapton
In my opinion, I'd change out Steve Vai for EVH. I know, cliche, but you can't beat him.
1. Brian may
2. Slash
3. Kurt cobain
4. Tony iomi
5. Angus young
yup my list includes these people. I would put Brian on top.
Kurt, really? He is extremely mediocre

aww i hoped id see mark on some of these
Love Tommy Emmanuel
mark knopfleer should be n. 1
eric johnson, Ill never look at a guitar the same way again, cliffs of dover, manhattan, srv all wonderful songs I could go on forever, the only artist to have 3 guitar instrumentals in the top ten billboards at the same time, true virtuoso, the master of tone
David Gilmour is my all time favorite. He puts so much emotion into his solos. Example: On The Turning Away, Coming Back to Life, Comfortably Numb, Have A Cigar, etc.
I have to mention Ritchie Blackmore - he's always left off in this kind of lists and I have no idea why!
He is The Guitarist that melded Blues and Classical music into hard rock heaven.
The dude basically reinvented sweep picking (like in the ending solo of April).
Brian May said he literally hadn't seen anyone do what Blackmore was doing in the end of the 60s and the 70s
Peter DD ,Ritchie blackmore is God of Gods.
How about Randy Holden. I notice he keeps taking down my favorite guitarist.
Ritchie Blackmore , definitely amoung the best.
The grandfather to neoclassical shred
Tommy Emmanuel. The first time I saw him, I was floored. Now, every time I see him play, I'm still floored.
I'm late but here is my list:
1. Gary Moore
2. Tony Emanuel
3. Steve Vai
4. Slash
5. Jimi Hendrix
6. Mark Knopfler
7. Neal Schon
8. The three guitars from Iron Maiden (because they have to be together)
9. Rhandy Rhoads
10. Steve Ray Vaughn
Here are some of my favorites:
Django Reinhardt
Albert King
BB King
Freddie King
Robert Johnson
T-Bone Walker
Muddy Waters
Buckethead
John Lennon
George Harrison
Paul McCartney
Chuck Berry
John Collins
Wes Montgomery
Jimmy Page

Willie McTell
Lonnie Johnson
Duke Ellington
Buster Benton
Lead Belly
Stevie Ray Vaughn
John Mayer
Johnny A.
Brad Paisley
Derek Trucks
Pat Metheny
John Scofield
Chet Atkins
Oz Noy
John Frusciante
Mark Knopfler.
"Not to mention his songwriting, which is often overlooked by his guitar playing." THANK YOU!
I know you aren't into metal, but you should give some early Judas Priest a listen, particularly the Sad Wings of Destiny and Stained Class albums, Glenn Tipton was very blues influenced guitarist so you may like his twist on incorporating blues into metal.
Also they made an excellent pick with richie faulkner to follow up kk downing. awesome guitar player
Yeah, I think when people suggest Judas Priest they too often point to their bigger selling albums such as British Steel and Screaming for Vengeance, I much prefer the atmosphere of the earlier albums and find that Sad Wings and Stained Class are pretty brilliant the whole way through wheras later albums (maybe with the exception of Painkiller) I find have more filler songs or songs that are a bit too cheesy.
+jiantjingerjohn - The solo in Beyond the Realms of Death off Stained Class is still to this day one bad ass piece of guitar work. Amazing solo.
I'm actually trying to learn it at the moment, I've been working on it for a while, but I'm not too dedicated to practice what with work and kids...and video games...that all get in the way of learning. But I can play through both Glenn and KK's solos with about 95% accuracy now, I just need to focus on bringing it all up to scratch.
The song I'd really like to be able to play though is Stained Class though...but it's way beyond my skill level at the moment.
That was a good list. My favorites differ in some areas but I can understand your choices. I personally prefer Johnny Winter to SRV in blues but that's probably because I'm in my 60s and was listening to him decades before SRV ever released an album. I also place Al Di Meola as number one in jazz but that may be more fusion than true jazz.
My Top 5 (not in a particular order)
5: Eddie Van Halen
4: Kurt Cobain
3: Kirk Hammett
2: Angus Young
1: Jimi Hendrix
My top 10!

George Beanson is the most underrated guitarist of all time
Phony he has a perfect timing, plays always with feel and he wrote wonderful songs, for me he is the perfect Jazz-blues player!
yeah man totaly agree. i love it when sometimes he is singing his guitar solos , thats epic as hell ... and those first jazz albums are out of this world

Matteo Mancuso best list on this video so far.. :D
Where is all the love for Johnny Marr?
Mikael Hållander yes yes yes yes. Favourite guitarist of all time

metalhead guitarists(which is the most common type) often dont appreciate marr's style
My top ten + 2, in not particular order:

George Lynch
Rik Emmett (Triumph)
Eddie Van Halen
Yngwie Malmsteen
Gary Moore
Michael Schenker
Randy Rhoads
Akio Shimizu (Anthem)

Jason Bieler (Saigon Kick)

Excellent list! I wouldn't change a thing.
I love that you have a "favorite note of all time" by Jimi Hendrix at the 3 minute 40 second mark of "All Along the Watchtower".
That's an awesome thing to keep track of. :)
Ben Aaron omigod yesssssssss I'm in my 60s and still freak out in my car when that comes on
Not even an honourable mention for Lil Wayne or Nick Jonas? Yeah, not the best definitely, but these guys can play! I'd sell my kidney to see them perform a duet.
Lord Stinson where’s Stevie T when ya need him
They inspire my to be better
WINK to the F and WINK

I am not guilty of spelling it out.
Lil Wayne? Seriously? 👎

7. B.B. King
8. Buddy Guy
9. Elmore James
10. Jeff Beck
My favourites
Brian May is my favorite. To build your own guitar and still be playing it 50 years later, awesome!
Honestly Continuum is the reason I wanted to play guitar. And even as I grow older and collect other influences, I always go back to that album every once in a while and find small little things that I missed that spark my creativity.
Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead and Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth are two guitar players that changed my life. Listening to those two bands really opened my eyes to the range of possibilities that music had to offer.
Wow good choice.
No order:
Andy Powell/Ted Turner twin lead
Satriani
Johnny Marr
Brian Stoltz
Nile Rogers
Peter Frampton
Prince
Alex Lifeson
Steve Morse
Nuno Bettencourt
Francis Dunnery
Mr Moz finally someone who acknowledges Alex Lifeson and Prince
Phil Keaggy
Eric Johnson
All those previously mentioned.
Thanks for what you do.
Jimmy Page
Jimi Hendrix
Johnny Marr
Bernard Butler
Graham Coxon
David Gilmour
George Harrison
Mick Ronson
Kevin Shields
Thurston Moore
OMG, SOMEBODY THAT LISTENS TO SUEDE
Ryan Lam glad to see Mick Ronson popping up on these lists. Not enough Edie Hazel though.
I'll throw out an oddball with King Buzzo of Melvins "fame", among other projects. His playing rarely flashy, but always feels "right" in the song, is often unconventional, and he's not afraid to play something for a laugh.
10. Ritchie Blackmore
9. Mick Taylor
8. Jimmy Page
7. Eric Clapton
6. David Gilmour
5. Stevie Ray Vaughan
4. Peter Green
3. Jimi Hendrix
2. Jeff Beck
1. Robert Johnson
Thank you for recommending Songlines. What an album! I can't believe I've never got into Derek Trucks before, I listened to it 4 times in one day and I don't plan to stop. He's quickly becoming one of my favourite slide players along with Duane Allman. Is there anything else by Derek that is a must have, I've heard that some of the earlier stuff isn't quite as good, so is anything up to the same standard as Songlines? Are the Tedeschi Trucks Band worth getting into? (I don't like her vocal, but the band are solid)
Thoughts on Brian May?
The Conservative Dragon my favourite of all time and the reason I play guitar
Marco Duò He's the reason I started playing
me too, I just started building a guitar in an effort to be more like him.
The Conservative Dragon I'll still play with a quarter if i need a pick but don't have one on me, all because of Brian May. I'm largely a bass player, but i always loved Queen, and Brian May is probably more underappreciated than Alex Lifeson from Rush, who is another super-underappreciated guitarist
mine too. respect on you for building a guitar man, i just went for the easy way and bought a red special last year, its pretty awesome though
r/Guitar in a nutshell
lmao this is true
A lot of my favourites on here and in the comments but one person I don't see mentioned is Mick Ronson. Love his tenure with Bowie in The Spider from Mars. Also did some amazing stuff on Lou Reed's Transformer.
Nile Rodgers also deserves a shoutout. Instantly recognisable and gets everybody grooving.
Buckethead is definitely my favorite guitarist. A lot of his more popular tracks, like Jordan and We Can Rebuild Him, show off his more hectic playing, which I love as well, but when you dig deeper into his giant repetoire, you can find so many different styles. From bluegrass to heavy metal, to solo acoustic music and much more. I recommend the Electric Tears album and the Elephant Man's Alarm Clock album.
My favorites in no particular order
1- jimmy page
2- SRV
3- Michael Shenker
4- John Fogerty (extremely underrated)
5- Ritchie Blackmore
6- Tonny Iommi
7- Zakk Wylde
8- Dimebag Darrell
9- Adrian Smith
10- Jimi Hendrix
John Fogerty is underrated as guitarrist AND as singer!
Fogerty is a helluva songwriter. Guitarist? Meh...
HOLY CRAP IM NOT THE ONLY FOGERTY FAN
For me my #1 favorite guitar player is Frank Zappa given his extreme latitude of phrasing ,his insanely complex chicken picking style I've not seen any other player replicate it ,I'm also a huge fan of Frank's use of triple picking ,hammer on s & massive amount of pull offs within his extended solos as long as 17 minutes without ever repeating himself in the soloing .
100% agree with you about Continuum
awesome video as always brother
Here's mine (in chronological order, earliest to most recent):
1) Mick Ronson (Bowie's Ziggy Stardust band)
2) Johnny Marr (The Smiths)
3) Brian Setzer (Stray Cats)
4) Billy Duffy (The Cult)
5) Nile Rodgers (Chic)
6) Les Paul
7) Nile Marr (Man Made)
8) Guy Piccioto (Fugazi)
9) Bernard Butler (Suede)
10) Matt Ashman (Bow Wow Wow, Adam & the Ants)
All based on unbelievable songwriting & feel, I don't claim any of them to be technical geniuses and they don't have to be :)
Nile Rodgers
YEAH!
Desmond Teague mick ronson is so underrated.
Even SRV appreciated JiMi! He put his own stamp on Voodoo Chile and other Hendrix tunes.
"He played my favourite note of all time at the 3:40 mark in all along the watchtower" well played sir!
I totally agree on with you on the best note being the 3:40 mark of All Along the Watchtower!
Jimi Hendrix
Zakk Wylde
Mark Knopfler
Paul Gilbert
Jimmy Page
Yngwie Malmsteen
Eric Clapton
David Gilmour
Ritchie Blackmore
Angus Young (Because he is the reason I have started playing the guitar)

Have just started really listening to music and artists apart from green day for like 3 years and these are by far the ten guitarists who inspire me the most
Some of my favorite guitarists that have influenced my playing are my older brothers Rick and Rob, Joe Satriani, SRV, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Jerry Cantrell, Chris Cornel, Jim Root, Oli Herbert, Mark Morton, Willie Adler, Mark Tremonti, Tom Schultz, Buck Dahrma, the guitarists from Xandria, nightwish, within temptation, epica, krypteria, and nemesea.
I haven't seen comments mentioning him, but Jerry Garcia is a legend whose solos still stand alone as some of the most unique and tasty in rock, imo.
Ryan Hargis as famous as jerry is he's passed off as a guitarist of a really famous band and not a legendary guitarist of a legendary band. I may be a biased dead head tho 😂
I completely agree
I scrolled through so many comments and I'm so happy to see someone finally acknowledged Jerry

One of my favorite guitar player recently is stephen carpenter from deftones
I really think that they are an underrated band, and stephens sound is so versatile, as seen in songs like hole in the earth, beauty school, goon squad or hearts/wires.
1) Gary Moore: Passionate and talented. Nobody has moved me the way he just did. The first time I heard Still got the blues it changed me forever.
2) Slash: Melodic genius with outstanding improvising flow and killer groove.
3) Ritchie Blackmore: Solid and precise 70s corner stone player who has great songwriting skills.
4) Carlos Santana: Very essential instrumental songwriting before the 80s guys. Sweetness using just few notes.
5) Gustavo Cerati: Amazing rhythm guitar, chords and Riffs. The best latinamerican singer/songwriter who ever lived.
6) John Norum and 7) Kee Marcello (Europe) : Some of the few shredders how never bored me the hell out, always enhancing the songs with strong Rock and Pop sensibility.
8) Eric Johnson: Chords as beautiful as his licks. Smooth and almost impossible to play.
9) Joe Satriani: Catchy and fun only guitar tunes. A blues hard rock guy who introduced a new flavor into guitar soloing.
10) Brian May: Queen.... Nuff said. He was my first guitar hero.
Other influences: Jimmy Page, Neal Schon, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Foreigner, ZZ Top, Steve Lukather, George Benson, Mark Knopfler, Pat Metheny, Greg Howe, Uli Jon Roth, Mike Einziger....
I'll second Gary moore, I don't understand why he doesn't get more credit..... No2 now satriani, no3, Steve lukeather, no4, Mark knopfler, no5, Albert king.. That's .y top 5 !!!!
And Gary Moore was an insane shredder too! I'm quite surprised you've mentioned Gustavo Cerati from Soda Stereo, are you Argentine by any chance?
May I suggest Rory Gallagher he was Jimi hendrix's favorite probably the most underrated guitarists who ever lived
Top 3 of mine
3.eddie van halen

1. Lil wayne
I’d say the most influential to me learning to play were Clapton, Mayer, Hendrix, beck, Albert king, Stevie ray, and Rory. All those guys still to this day make me wanna pick up my guitar and play every time I hear them. Mayer was big for me since he was the only current artist when I began playing.
Excellent video -- articulate and informed from the musician's POV. Question: what are your thoughts on Steve Morse, Rory Gallagher, and the criminally underrated (if not outright forgotten) Roy Buchanan?
I think that a sober SRV is the best guitarist that’s ever lived
I saw him decidedly unsober in ??1986?? (just before he went into rehab) and, well, he was not the best and he was not sober.
In no particular order:

Jimmy Page
David Gilmour
Peter Green
Danny Kirwan
Hubert Sumlin
Robert Johnson
Mark Knopfler
Neal Schon
Bert Jansch
Jeff Beck
Special mention: Chris Stafford (not quite nationally known; he's in the Grammy-nominated Feufollet. My favorite part of Festival International is always watching the blood drain from the faces of musicians from around the world as they notice how good he is.)
Also, what are your thoughts on Red Volkaert? I've noticed that there are no videos on UA-cam that actually show how good he is. Definitely one of the best.
One of my favorite guitarists is Brent Mason that guy is amazing
I didn't take guitar seriously until I heard B.B. King.
Everyone has their own opinion. Here's mine in not particular order:
10) John Petrucci
9) Marty Friedman
8) Randy Rhoads
7) Eddie Van Halen
6) Paul Gilbert
5) Yngwie Malmsteen(I hv no idea if the spelling was right)
4) Steve Vai
3) Buckethead
2) Synyster Gates
1) Dimebag Darrell
A country fan I see, nice.
for shred guitar I would make a list VERY close to this one, only on the other direction! (and without synester gates)
I absolutely love this list and it made it even better with Dimebag at #1. I had casually listened to metal for years, but the moment "I got it" was the moment I first heard Mouth For War. Floored me. My all-time favorite metal song.
RatHead Master lol syn at number 2
is this sarcastic?
Prince was also one of the greatest electric guitarists of all times. His solo on "while my guitar gently weeps" is the heavy metal solo you were looking for on your "djently weeps" video about metal.
I saw him do a gig once where he played nearly everything from guitar, piano, bass and much much more, he is amazing on anything he touched.
1-Pat Metheny
2-David Gilmour
3-Mark Knopfler
4-John Mayer
5-Mark Lettieri
6:45 ITS CALIFORNICATION NOT CALIFORNIACATION
GET THE PITCHFORKS OUT BOYS
You joke about it, but you don't understand how much this annoys me. It's when a little kid tells you to "listen to Californiacation" that brings a chill of pain down my spine
Bruh, chill.
My new list
Honerable Mentions. Paul Gilbert.
John pettrucii. Jason Richardson. Jake e lee
10. Jimmy page
9. Eddie van halen
8. Jason Becker
7. Tomy iommi
6. Zakk Wylde
5.kurt Cobain (favorite mussican)
4. Kirk and James from mettalica
3. Synester gates
2. Dimebag Darrel
1. Randy Rhoades
Brian May, Carlos Santana, Gary Moore, Johnny Winter for pure lead playing (may for composition as well), Knopfler of course, and Chet Atkins playing "Vincent" is what made 8 yr old me want to do this thing some 42 years ago.
My top five:
1. Jimmy Page
2. George Harrison
3. Alex Lifeson
4. Steve Howe
5. Pete Townshend
Finn 4415
George Harrison has phenomenonal technique
Finn 4415 nice Alex lifeson is definitely up there for me too
Alex lifeson - thank you.
Songwriting completely trumps technical ability in my book, so these are the guitarists I enjoy the most:
1. Johnny Marr (The Smiths, Modest Mouse)
2. Josh Homme (Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age)
3. Elliott Smith
4. Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse)
5. Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead)
6. Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine)
7. Albert Hammond Jr. (The Strokes)
8. Mike Stroud (Ratatat)
9. Kurt Vile
10. Dave Konopka/Ian Williams (Battles)
Last I heard Kevin was trapped under his pedalboard. They may have to amputate just to get him out. :)
Awesome to see another fan of Johnny Marr. The smiths are possibly my favourite band of all time and Marr contributed to that massively. He’s got such an inimitable style, somehow he managed to get his guitar to sound like an entire orchestra. I’ll never forget the first time I heard “how soon is now” that song changed my world on guitar. Plus a lot of his stuff is really fucking hard to play.
Totally agree-might add Jason Isbell or Aaron Tasjan
A little different, but my favourites in no particular order are:
1. Scott Ian (The reason I started playing guitar back in 1992, Anthrax guitarist if you didn't know)
2. Tony Iommi (Dio era Black Sabbath was my thing, as well as Tony Martin... Took me ages to get into Ozzy)
3. Joe Duplantier (Gojira's guitarist and vocalist, got me back into guitar, tuning down to D Standard and Dropped C)
4. Claudio Sanchez (Incredible guitarist and vocalist, created the whole Coheed and Cambria concept and the Amory Wars Story, inspirational storyteller and musician)
5. Richard Z Kruspe (Rammstein, super groovy industrial metal)
6. Roland Grapow (Ex Helloween and Masterplan virtuoso, can play very heavy and also like Malmsteen, incredible)
7. Matz Bjorkman (Candlemass's rhythm guitarist, the original doom metal band from Sweden, awesome)
8. Kai Hansen (Ex Helloween and Gamma Ray guitarist and singer, loved his early stuff, I was in awe of him in my younger days)
9. Shoji Meguro (Mostly a composer of Persona game music, but plays guitar in the Persona Music Live band, I love him, he inspires me to play his music, The Almighty - Boss Battle from Persona 4)
10. Dave Murray (Iron Maiden - what more is there to say)
Being from Texas and right outside Dallas SRV was just ingrained in me from birth. He is my favorite of all time but one guy I grew up watching because of my dad but there was nothing he couldn’t play amazing and that was Roy Clark.
Here’s my opinion in no particular order:
Jimmy Page
Mick Ronson(David Bowie’s guitarist)
Randy Rhodes
Jimi Hendrix
B.B King
Slash
David Gilmor
Eddie Van Halen
Robert Johnson
Eric Clapton
Randy rhoads
George Harrison
Jack White
Jimmy Page
Ronnie Wood
Lindsey Buckingham
Eric Clapton
Chuck Berry
Brian Setzer
Tom Morello is my favourite guitarist. He’s endlessly inventive and his range is incredible. From the jingling melodies of Doesn’t Remind Me to the sheer fury of Know Your Enemy, he’s incredible.
Hey canadian fellow! I think you have a great understanding of music and of the role of the musician in a band. I have a lot of classic idols as Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello but my favourite guitarist nowaday is Matt Bellamy. He's such an underrated genius. I just wanted to ask you if you will come with a video that would talk about him or that will includes him. I'm very curious about your opinion on his musical approach since his talent is a huge controversy among the musicians and listeners of our days. If you need some suggestions to base your opinion on I would say listen to Eternally Missed (solo), Animals, Exo-Politics (Instrumental/only guitar to have a better a look on the song since every sounds is blend so harmonically as some parts). Anyway keep up the good jobs! I just discovered your channel and I love the humour and the education that you manage to mix to make your videos entertaining!
My favorite guitarist are
1. SRV
2. Jimi Hendrix
3. Eric Clapton
4. Carlos Santana
5. Johnny winter
6. Buddy Guy
7. BB King
8 John Frusciante
9. Jeff Beck
10. Brain May
11. And John Mayer
